ABD Backstage Magic 2/20 - 2/25/11 *** Close to Selling Out***

Is there still room? I'm very tempted to go ... I'm thinking of going to Los Angeles from the 17th to 20th for a Doctor Who convention anyway so adding another week to my vacation would be easy.

Oh dear.... this is quite pricey but a lifetime dream!! (It's pricey because I'm going on the Med cruise in June and it's payment is due in Feb if I don't do it earlier....that and combining it with airfare to Europe will be hard. I'd feel really guilty.... guilty pleasure??!!!)

So undecided...:confused3 yet excited at the same time at the prospect.

One question ... I'm reading that the pickup from LAX is at 1:00 pm. My main reason for going to Los Angeles has me still at the event until at least 4 or 5 pm (I'll be at the Mariott LAX). I can probably duck out earlier but not as early as 1 pm. Is it possible to find my own way to the hotel and meet up with the tour at dinner or are there things to do before dinner? Are there any ... ummm ... magical moments between LAX and dinner? :rotfl:

We were on the 4/2010 ABD DIS tour and the only things happening before the first night meet and greet/dinner we NON ABD activites.

I think the 1 PM cut off for the transfer shuttle is so that ADB can be assured that they get you to the hotel in time from their end.

Kevin can confirm that it may be possible for you to find your own way to the hotel.

Must say that if you can swing this trip, you will not regret it, we enjoyed it so much the first time we signed up again for this trip!

ABD requests that you be on the ground by 1:00pm when using transfers so that can collect you and get you to the Hollywood Renaissance in time to check in and have time to get ready for the Welcome Dinner.

If you want to use ABD transfers, you would need to get to LAX prior to 1:00pm.

The ABD Guides meet you in the lobby on the first day and provide you with your keys and ask which lunch entree you'd like for the next day's visit to the Henson Studios.

It's possible for you to arrange your own transportation and arrive at the hotel later than that.

I'm sure we could make arrangements to have your room keys waiting for you and you could give the guides your lunch info at the Welcome Dinner.

Sending Carol and Michael positive energy!!!!:wizard:

Sorry guys I've been MIA for a while, but life gets hectic...:headache:

Just wanted to touch base and say hello to everyone! I was listening to an old podcast and heard whispers that some spots opened up on this trip due to cancellations. I looked at the list on the front page and didn't notice any major changes...did I miss something in my hiatus?

Just as an FYI, we (me and Mr. Puffpatty) are booked on PCC2.0 as well...I guess this means that we'll get a chance to meet up with Mike (hi!). Anyone else cruising with us? We'll be spending a few days in the world prior to the cruise and we just booked our tix to the MVMCP for 12/9 (our 1st) and I'm super excited! We are last minute planners so we are just trying to get a hold of all the details for the December trip and then we'll start looking for airfare for California. We've been slightly preoccupied with preparing to host our first Thanksgiving for all of our parents (his parents, my mom, her DH & my dad and his 3rd wife). Let me tell you how much fun the holiday stress has been (note: sarcasm).

Today I got my Disney fix by going to the opening of the Disney Store in Times Square. It was fun and I was able to collect several pairs of mickey ears as they were handing them out all over! I work down the block from the store so I'm so excited that I can get a little taste of the magic whenever I leave for my lunch hour. It's the little things in life, I suppose...didn't buy anything but I'm taking notes for black friday.

Ok, off to bed...hope everyone is well!

Well, unfortunately, I won't be going with you guys. :sad1:

I looked at the ABD costs, what I'm paying for the cruise, hotel and airfare and decided that although I could afford it, I couldn't do it without feeling a lot of guilt. <sigh>

If this is offered in 2012, I would seriously consider it but the timing is all wrong for next year (although, in retrospect, it's great timing since I'm in LA already but .... financial timing is bad.)

Have fun guys.

Happy Thanksgiving!!!

What a lot we have to look forward to!!

Oy ... I am about to explode. There was so much turkey, stuffing and yams ... and did I mention the desserts????

I may never eat again! Hope everyone is having a wonderful Thanksgiving. We spent the day at my mom's and then back home for the evening.

We purchased a new artificial tree yesterday and I've been working on getting all the branches fluffed. I guess we will begin the true decorating tomorrow.

Hope you all have a great weekend and get to do some relaxing. I saw there is another thread going about people being at the malls at 4am. YIKES! :scared1: I will be sleeping in tomorrow!

Happy Thanksgiving to all.

Today is a day when I reflect just how thankful I am for everything. This year has been very trying but I know that I am lucky that I live in a world where my illness can be diagnosed and I can be treated with such great medical advancements. I am ready to go through chemo again next week.

I am keeping good thoughts that I will be seeing you in February.

It's a great day to be alive,
Carol

James Franco and Anne Hathaway were announced today as being the hosts for the Academy Awards presentation next year. Maybe if we're lucky, we'll see them rehearse.

Of course, we will be with our own private celebrities.

Getting a little closer, just received our final payment due request.

I paid my balance...and tomorrow I'm headed to Disneyland for the first time! (Thankfully, if I miss out on anything I'll be going back soon :)

Disneyland is beautiful at Christmas. It is much more extensively decorated than the Magic Kingdom. Just wait until you see New Orleans Square decorated with a Mardi Gras/Christmas theme.

Do you plan to see the Candlelight Processional at the Main Street Railroad Station?

Be sure to report back when you return! Oh, and have a magical time!

Michael

Good morning everyone. I just went on the DU website and paid off the balance on the trip.

Now I am wondering about what is NOT included? How much should we budget for shopping at Mickey's of Glendale? LOL
