ABCs of Trip Reporting, Pt. 2-Life Can Be Crappy and Then You Move On (3/7)

Have a wonderful rest of the weekend and a great and magical trip.

Thanks, Pat. Today is all about stocking up my larder so the kids will have something to cook, and finishing up laundry and PACKING!! EEK, I haven't even found a suitcase yet!! :scared1:

Liesa, in case I don't get to say it in time: I hope you will have a wonderful trip to California despite all the potential problems this trip might bring with it. I wish you all the best and will be thinking of you while you are away.

I loved your story of your experience at the Tambu lounge. I had never been interested in the Lapu drink, it just seemed a bit of a rip off to charge so much more for it being served inside a pineapple. I love pineapples, but never saw the point of using one as a drinks container. However, your story really changed my mind and I am now seriously considering getting one in October!! :cool1:

Thanks, Magdalene! My step uncle called my mom and really gave her a reality check about my aunt's condition. She is very close to a feeding tube, and will likely be on hospice soon. This trip is really, I don't know, iffy. She chokes a lot on her food, and I am horribly afraid she will while we are at Disney. She only wants to stay one night, so MAYBE my mom and I will sneak back to the parks for another day without her, if time allows; we shall see.

I came up with an idea about the pineapple: I am almost positive, if you ask, the bartender or the chef will cut up your fruit if asked. Then you can munch on it at the table during dinner, or for a light dessert. Heck, tell them you want to take it back to the room? :confused3 Then, there's no waste and you get a double whammy- drinks and dessert. :thumbsup2

Yep we sure are coming to Oregon. But unfortuntaly not your direction. We'll be heading to Klamath Falls. Bonanza to be exact. It's the southern east corner of the state. If we would be there for a longer trip like we have in the past I would make a day trip up your direction but it's not in the cards this trip. As of right now we'll be there from July 1st to July 4th. Leaving late on the 4th to come home. It's a fun time cuz my brother comes down from Washington, my sister comes up from Redding, my other sister lives there and we are coming from the Bay Area. It's a mini family reunion.

YOu know Tammie (MAGICFOR2) lives in Klamath Falls. I wonder if she'd be up for a DISMeet on her home turf? We'll (my kids and I )will be headed her way for an airshow on the airbase there, and getting some of her hospitality. I can't wait!!!!!!!!

Your time with family sounds wonderful!! I hope you have a simply super time with everyone gathered. I'll be asking how it turned out!

Rosie! You were the only winner from Pt. 2 that I don't have an address for (anymore- I think I lost it?) Could you send that to me? Thanks!!!

That's where I live - KFalls! Small world, huh? Did you grow up in Bonanza?

Edited to say: I see Liesa broke the news already :) If you think you'd be up to meet for a little bit, PM me so we can exchange numbers!

Wow, the things you learn everyday. So this is the junk like backpacks, water bottles, and promo videos, right? :confused3
yep thats the junk, as well as endless pens with company names on them and coozies.

That was a might fine thought process, Dan!! And it would have been even more completely amazing HAD I BEEN TALKING ABOUT ONLY THE DRINKS FOR THAT NIGHT. The question was in reference to the entire trip, silly billy. So far there've been 4. Apricot Sour at HBD, Welsh Dragon at Rose and Crown, and the Lapu and supplemental (cheaper) re-fill. 4. Now, go back and guess again, there's 8 days left of the trip.
ahh man i didnt realize we were talking about how much of a lush you were for the whole trip.

so you dont have to go and look back for my other guesses i will put it here, and that way you can find my change or guess.

i will say you had a total of 14 drinks...you wild and crazy lady you.

At the risk of looking like an ignoramous... ummmm, what's a coozie?? That's what we call our jacuzzi, and I doubt they're giving away free spas.

14?! What kind of boozer do you think I am?? (Actually, others guessed much higher, and you may be in the ball park.) To be honest, I haven't even counted them up yet.

But what's the point? Wouldn't that be sorta like having a Vegetarian Steak Dinner?

I was going to say the same thing, Marv.

I hope you have a great visit with your Aunt and Mom! Safe Travels!

Thanks, Vanessa! Today is pack and shop day. And getting all those little details in order- like getting a ride to the airport... which I had completely forgotten to do until 10:00 last night! :scared1::scared1::scared1: I have no idea why I feel to disorganized and behind on preparing for this trip!!

A coozie is that foam thingy you slide a canned drink into to help keep it cold longer.

Saw your FB post about packing. I guess that means you have everything you need so far to do your famous Liesa greetings........ :rolleyes1

Thank you! So I only look slightly like an ignoramous. At least in the coozie dept. But I have to ask: why do they give those out at a professional conference? :confused3 I mean I can see those at like a outdoorsmen/ hunting/ fishing/ boating/ hunting show, but for engineers? I don't get that.

And aren't we the funny boy today? Besides, my mother has seen all of that and more. She even used to change my dipies!! ;) And pretty soon, I'll probably have to change hers. :scared1:

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :scared1:

As for the coozies, it is something that companys know most people will put to use so they put their company logo on there and get essentially free advertising.......along with keeping their name "at the tips of your fingers" in hopes a potential customer will think of them first when needing to order something. :confused3

To all my lovlies...

Alas the carriage is waiting to take me to slumberland. My battery is dying (the computer's, not mine) and everyone's asleep, so I can't go find it. I have a HUGE bonfire/ airsoft/ croquet/ volleyball/ BBQ/ late night movie party tomorrow and need to get some sleep before a long day. I won't be on Sunday, as you know, so will have to finish up responses and catching up on threads on Monday. Although... I won't have a lot of time then either. I leave on Tuesday for California, and will be on and off while there for the week.

Trusting you will all have a WONDERFUL weekend ahead! Mary should have an update up Monday or early in the week. Until then....

Hope you had the sweetest dreams - and I just know you will have a magical time!! :wizard:

Looking forward to "seeing" Mary around...

Yeah, I saw that... and it looks like our tandem SWAG technique was a miserable failure for both of us. :lmao:

(that almost sounded dirty, didn't it?)

I really had to go back to find out how you were using SWAG (another midwesterner who thought swag meant something else!)

I'm ready to give up running another Half.

not ready to give up Going to Disney!!

Ok, that makes sense. I guess...

If I were a company PR person, I would give out screen savers. With subtle designs of the company logo weaved in.

Hope you had the sweetest dreams - and I just know you will have a magical time!! :wizard:

Oh! Don't give up Sandy!! I'm not doing so well the last week or so on my training either- it's just been way too busy with parties and cleaning, and getting ready for my trip! But we can do it!!! :cheer2:

I do hope Mary can fill in for me while I"m gone!!! We need her mum... rather "flattering" video of me making a donkey out of myself. :lmao:

It's from a series of ads for Dos Equis beer. Check out some of the quotes in this Wikipedia page.
Wikipedia??? Really??? :confused3

Isn't that the place that had the quote......

Liesa doesn't always give a greeting, but when she does she chooses Dos Shaquis!!!

So did you ever get to see the Torch lighting ceremony at the Poly? Or do we need to wait in suspense on that point? :confused3

Ok, I'll check it out; sounds funny!

 I'll have to look that one up too!

No, I won't leave you in suspense. Apparently, they only do that a few days out of the week. :confused3 I thought every website I looked at said, "Nightly at 6:00" but guess not. I was really pretty bummed out, but there's always next time. Besides, if I had taken time to see one, I'd have missed out on my really cool, hip tiki photoshoot.
