ABCs of Trip Reporting, Pt. 2-Life Can Be Crappy and Then You Move On (3/7)

We are still skiing here in Colorado. Aspen is reopening for Memorial Day weekend skiiing and other resorts may stay open through July. One of my engineers went this weekend and said its better powder than it was this winter!

Jill in CO

Did you know I have a YEAR ROUND ski resort about an hour away?? Yup, Mt. Hood at Timberline is open all year long for skiing, and the Olympic team often uses it for training. Too bad I 'm not rich and in shape enough to take advantage!!

Caught up once again.

Cracking up over the lucky shot with the pea shooter.

That's a riot!

I thought that pea shooter incident might sound funny (and perhaps familiar) to you :)

Was a few days and several pages behind. Had my youngest sons high graduation and his open house this past weekend. That kept me busy for a few days, getting ready for it and getting through it.

This weekend was also my 3 month anniversary of my transplant. All is well, thanks, for asking! The last 2 weeks I've finally been reduced to doing labs once a week instead of twice a week. The hospital I've been going to for labs is 45 minutes away, so cutting down trips is a plus. Next week I get to start going to one closer to home....only about 20-25 minutes away. I could have started this week but I had to do a sonogram this week. That also was all good and my medicines been adjusted for a couple weeks, so I think I'm finally on that straight path of this roller coaster ride I've been on.

Your costumes looked great....and I just absolutely loved the girls pictures by the window.....gorgeous!!

Now for my letter J guess.

I totally understand about the being busy these days thing, Tanya!! In fact, I'm about to go dark for a few days- at least until after the party on Saturday.

Sounds like things are really going well for you!! I am really encouraged by what you are describing, and hooray for being able to get labs done closer!!! WOOT!

I am going to frame those profile shots for their birthdays- I love them too!

I was actually awake at 6:16 am (the time of your post), can't sleep in the mornings at the moment, too bright outside. But I would have been very surprised if my phone had started to ring at that time of the day. :lmao:

Magdalena, Maybe a sleep mask would come in handy. :confused3 If you don't have one I have one your welcome to. :goodvibes

When I first read this paragraph, I misread "deck" and read "desk" instead and was really wondering why all your flowers would be on your desl... :rotfl:

Here in Germany we have a few days which are called the "ice saints". Since Catholics have one (or more) saints assigned to each day of the year, a day would often be named by the saint's name. I think you have it also with St John's? Well, the days from May 11 to May 15 are the so called ice saints, the names for the days are Mamertus, Pankratius, Servatius, Bonifatius and Sophie. Nothing icy about the saints themselves, but according to tradition these are the last days of the year when you can expect night frost. And modern meteorological research has shown that this is a very typical weathe pattern for Central Europe. So, here in Germany the rule is: never plant anything outside before the ice saints. :goodvibes

I love it when you share German culture/trivia. I totally dig information!!

That is like what we say here in the mountains - since it is predicted to snow in 2 days - heading into Memorial Day weekend, we always say, "never plant anything before Memorial Day." Our flower beds are quite empty except for the tulips and daffodils, which are about done blooming.

I can't imagine this late in the year for tulips and daffodils to pop up here! They showed up here in Feb and March. Crazy, right?!?

Scary words but so true. There have been times when I've been talking to regulars on my TRs/PTRs and suddenly they just disappear. I always wonder if they just don't feel like coming back after they go on a trip or what exactly happens to them.

All these tornadoes going on makes me worry so much about people south of the border. I hope all who are close to this awful weather is safe and sound :grouphug:

I know! Piper's mom comes to mind. :sad1: TrayRene, I miss them. Wish I knew how to get in touch with them.

SNOW?!?! Wow...I'm sure the mountains are beautiful, but :scared1:

I know! Right?!? The weather has been really wacky the last few years, every where!

Woowza! I don't ever remember that when I lived there, but then again I was little and lived in Grand Junction.

Tanya, I'm so glad your doing so well.

I'm so relieved!! What a nightmare!

Tell me about it.

Normally we don't close our curtains to sleep, but about 3 weeks ago, we had to start. Although I really love to roll over and see the river first thing, it's just too bright in the morning now.

Can you even see the river with all the trees grown in?

Actually, I do have a bouquet of flowers on my desk- lilacs at the moment! They smell amazing!!!!! Until this party is over on Saturday, I can't garden anhymore. In fact, I won't even be on here anymore until then either. But, I LOVED hearing about the advice given about the Saints and how the calendar is referred to by them. very interesting!

::yes::

I am the same way. I have a running list of MIAs in my head from this thread as well.... Wings, Sophia, Shannn, and a whole bunch of others have just disappeared!!!

Yeah! What ever happened to them?!? :confused3

My Dear Friends~

As Saturday approaches, I need to really focus on other things. And I imagine things will be pretty slow on the Boards in general over Mem. Day weekend anyway. So, now is a GREAT time to catch up, as there won't be any updates before Monday at the earliest.

HOWEVER, I will post the answer to Letter J tomorrow morning. So, all answers need to be in by say, 10:00 or so.

I hope you are all well and enjoying life! Feel free to hang out, chat it up, and enjoy. :goodvibes

Tanya, great to hear from you and with so many good news!! :goodvibes

Well, I guess I need to figure something out about the light in my bed room. Or just make sure to go to bed at 10pm - then I will be well rested when the sun wakes me up and actually there is nothing better than waking up from the sun and not the alarm clock! The good thing is that I am actually awake and don't have to pull myself out of bed.

Your lilacs sound wonderful! And I thought you would like the story about the ice saints.. :goodvibes

I did notice that people seem to disappear from the DIS as well. I think to a certain degree it is due to the fact if you don't plan a trip at the moment (or write a report), there isn't so much reason for them to be here. But it is sad if they disappear and one doesn't know why. I am always a bit worried that the reason might be not a good one...

Have a great party on Saturday!! And we will be looking forward to seeing you again once the weekend has passed. :thumbsup2

Thanks Camillie! :goodvibes And your idea with the sleep mask is actually a very good one! I might try that tonight, I think I have one which I got on an airplane once. They used to have these neat little packs for the long distance flights with socks, refreshing towel, sleep mask...

Isn't that what this thread is for?? :lmao:

Mine too! Jean Luc was simply HOT!!!

Very true! :lmao: Glad you don't mind! Riker's not bad either!

I hope the party is everything the girls hoped it would be and that it goes smoothly for you! I've been using the handy dandy chapter links to read the updates I missed so maybe by Monday I will be caught up! I sent you an FB msg with the dress measurements so when things slow down let me know if you think they will work. Enjoy the long weekend! :)

See that lovely plate of deliciousness right there above?? That is your next clue for "Where in the World?" I would love for you to tell me just where that hunk of pleasure can be found, firstly. Since K is after J, the answers for this round will begin with K; without which there would be no kites, kittens, or ???

Now, secondly, this round is going to work rather the same as all other previous rounds, with a twist. Time to break out your best Chubby Checker, and follow this intestesting spin on things. Truly, this will separate the men and boys, and women and girls; so put your best thinking caps (not your shower caps) on and tell me: One other thing, place, person, even adjective, etc... (does NOT necessarily have to be "proper" (we've had this discussion before, but if that confuses you, PM me)) that can be found hmmm..... let's see, maybe within 5-7 minutes walking distance.

Now here's the twist: Answers are going to be PM'd AND I will offer one additional bonus point (so 3 points possible) for any UNIQUE answers to the second part. In other words, if your answer was the only one and no one else guessed it, you can have 3 points- 1 for the picture clue, 1 for the association, and 1 for being unique. If someone else does guess your answer, you get the normal 2 points.

This should give those who may have missed that tougher Letter "I" a chance to regain a point, and a chance to break a rather large tie we have as well.

I just PMd you also.

I also want to submit my recommendation for firefly. Watch the series, then watch the movie serenity. It kind of wraps things up after the series was cancelled. I am not a big sic fi geek....I like star wars, never got into star trek, but knew enough and had seen enough of it to enjoy the new star trek movie from last year. But firefly, I've seen described as a space-western....I love the characters, especially Mal.

Have lost my mind, so pm sent. No research, just what popped into my head....which meant I had to leave out most of came to mind. Clear as mud? :confused3 :teeth:

If I don't get back again, have a lovely Memorial Day Weekend!!:goodvibes

:dance3:

You all make me laugh!! I"m glad it's kinda fun to play the game! HAHA!

I don't have time right now to plow through replies, but am reading them all and will hopefully catch up on Monday-

Saturday- Party DAY!!

Monday- RELAX and catch up here and what else? Clean house!!

I'll pop in as I can, and I'll even start thinking about my next update too.

Have a GREAT Holiday weekend Liesa, and PARTY HARDY!!!!!:lmao::woohoo:

Hope everyone else on the thread has a great Memorial Day!:grouphug:

I missed the deadline for J, didn't I? By a hair?

Just in case I didn't (having skipped all the banter in a desperate attempt to catch up, I'm not so sure)...Jambo House; nearby is Jiko.

K is fun -- I'm going to have to take some time and really try to be creative!

Now on to the updates I missed while I was away...

Liesa, I will never again be able to look at the MNSSHP pumpkins and not think that they are former princesses who procrastinated a bit too much! :rotfl:

Also, your family looks adorable in your Jane Austen-finery!

Cynthia, I love your rainbow pictures! Gorgeous!
