ABCs of Trip Reporting, Pt. 2-Life Can Be Crappy and Then You Move On (3/7)

Oh my gosh!!!!!

SANDY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have wondered about you for ages!
So glad you are back! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

:grouphug:
read the Baker story on DISabilities - yes, I cried!

and then followed you over here, reading Liesa's TR - I cried...

back when y'all were planning this trip, and I was reading it, actively participating... ok... I admit it. I dreamed of joining you - you are people I want to hang out with!!

so reading this TR makes me think... "what if I was there?" "IF only I could've joined them!" - it only takes money right? I have the dream.....

So reading your update Maroo - another tear of joy - looking at those pictures! I want to go back!! I want to be in the magic, smell, taste and feel ALL OF IT!! :wizard:

So…she showed me her corner. We were situated in the bend of the road right HERE…

Corner....bend in the road....same thing. I can't believe you couldn't find her with that detailed description. But at least she came to your rescue, and I'm glad that you got to watch MSEP and Wishes together.

Danged Dictatorships!!! :headache:

Oh NO, not another person who isn't sure what the definition of "IS" is???

yeah, those dictatorships will get ya every time. :lmao:

No, I'm still working on the TR for my New England trip in March. I'm not sure I'll do a TR for this one. But I did upload a bunch of pictures to FB on Sunday night.

Did I even know about this?? Is it in your sig? I think I'm going mad...:confused3

Take as much time as you need - we will still be here! I've decided to catch up on everyone's TR's (including yours) by reading the chapter links only. As much as I love the banter, 4 months worth is too much to read! Ooohhh! Can't wait to find who you are meeting tonight! Have a great time!

Thanks! Today is finally a STAY AT HOME DAY!!! I can take a bit of extra time to catch up around here, and maybe even get to my kitchen floor! YUCK!

I feel your pain about getting caught up- I feel behind after 3 days gone- I can't even imagine 4 months!!! :scared1:

Well, our Meet came and went- and I can say, we had a VERY nice time. It went off without a hitch, DAN AND CANDI are delightful people and little Parker is just as cute as they come. Wished it could have been longer, but they were bushed after travelling all day, and I had to get back home. I'd post a pic, but I (as usual) forgot my own camera, and the story really belongs on Dan's thread anyway; it was his travel/trip. So, in a couple of weeks (I am so jealous!!) you can look for a chapter on his thread. :goodvibes

An update!!!! YIPPEE!!!

LOVE flowers and those fields are fabulous!!!

Looking forward to mischief about to unfold.... ::yes::

I'm so glad you're around Christine- you make me smile each time I see a post from you. The fields would have really been something had they been in full bloom, but we enjoyed what we got and each other's company.

yes, there is mischief about to unfold.... :rolleyes1

It really looks like you're in Holland, not Oregon. The tulips must be awesome when they're fully in bloom.

There is a LOT of ag. land around us with Christmas trees, winter wheat, and TONS of nursery stock, like the tulips. Just up the freeway about 10 minutes there is an annual Iris Festival as well going on now. It does look like Holland sometimes and I'll bet there's the same amount of water too.

Beautiful flower pictures and yay for another Dismeet update! :thumbsup2

Thanks, Tina!!

it made the few days that you could catch both a crowd magnet!

It was massively crowded! I'm SOOOOOOOO glad I waited at that primo spot for over an hour and 15 minutes!! My feet were really hurting by now (keep those blisters in mind!) and I was ready to just sit and people watch.

So I made my way through the crowd but I could not find her! She kept telling me she was in a corner by a rope and all I could see was a round street…which was really confusing me! Where is the corner in this big round hub?!?

It was kind of an odd duck place. You know where the parades go AROUND the hub then TURN to go off toward Liberty Square. At that point they set up ropes that make a corner. I wish I could explain it better- maybe someone will know what i"m talking aobut and can put it into words better? :confused3

So…if you can picture this…I am on the phone with her and trying to drive and trying to avoid the people that keep darting in front of me and trying to find her…which was just a recipe for trouble…

That's some serious multi-tasking!

Help! I am stuck! Which is terribly funny now, but was quite embarrassing when it happened. :lmao: :rotfl2:

I thought it was terribly funny THEN. I remember almost busting a gut. :lmao:

You could see the castle right in front of us. We still had some time before MSEP started. There was no way my wheelchair was going to fit where Liesa was - just too many people! And I didn't want to obstruct anyone's view. So I parked it out of the way behind a tree and hobbled over and sat on the ground.

yep, we just parked ourselves right on the ground, threw caution to the wind for picking up stray gum or dole whip drips, and camped there for the next 30 hour.

It was so cool to be there with Liesa! We talked about our solo days. I shared the Baker and Mickey story.

So!!

But see the light on up towards the castle? Security had turned on these big flood lights and there were some people gathered just across the street close to the castle. I didn't see anyone get carted off in cuffs or anything, so I assume maybe someone just lost something of value and they were needing some light to find it? :confused3

It was odd to see all the hubbub and the floodlights. Whatever it was, it was resolved in about 5 minutes.

Pretty soon it was time for the MSEP to start! I have to admit that I don't love this parade as much as Spectro - I think I like the Spectro music a lot more, which really makes the parade for me - but I do love MSEP, too!

I cried. Yep, unashamed tears for memories that flooded back to me from my childhood as each float passed by. I bee-bopped to the music: "Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls..." LOVE IT!! I've not seen Spectro, so it was nice to not have to compare and just enjoy!

Being close to the rope was cool because we got a great view of the floats and the castle in the background made for some cool pics!

Your pictures ROCK!!!! Mine are ALL horrible, and I don't have ANY of yours! Can you send them- along with the photopass ones???

I love this picture of Hook and Peter Pan fighting right under the clock of the castle!

disneysept2010day2570.jpg

VERY, VERY cool!!

And my FAVORITE float! I just love this one!! And he looked right at us! :goodvibes

disneysept2010day2696.jpg

One of my favorites too- mostly because I LOVE THAT MOVIE!!!

I thought I stayed for Wishes….but I have NO pictures of Wishes. I probably decided that I would enjoy it more if I didn't look at it through a camera lens…??

Actually, I don't think you did see it this night. We parted ways, and I ran over to get my Dole Whip, and stood in line FOREVER for it. This kid was hanging all over the ropes, and pulling on them, and it bugged me so bad, I actually told him to stop. Normally, I"m not intrusive like that, but seriously he was going to break it, or get hurt. His mom was standing right there letting him do it, and did say something after I did, but come on- control your kid!

Anyway, I got my Float, and ran over to just in front of Caseys. Wishes started right then, and I..... Hmmm... I htink I'll save this for my last Kaleidoscopes of Kolor update.

If you stopped to see Wishes, you must have been on Main Street WAY down there, or didn't stop?

Regardless…I am sure I cried… It had been a day full of wishes being granted and I have years worth of wishes being granted in my head as I watch that fantastic firework display! So I usually cry.

What a great night! :cloud9::cloud9::cloud9:

Speaking of WIshes, I have some "granted wishes" to show you next update as well!

So long, in fact, that the POP food court was closed…so I don't remember eating anything that night?! :confused3 I am sure I ate something! Liesa actually beat me back, I think?? I can't remember…but she had time to get a Dole Whip during the time I waited around for the bus. HA! :upsidedow

I think we arrived at almost exactly the same time. And I know we didn't do much talking, but went straight to bed.

GREat updates, maroo!!!

Love our royal name. I will try to fit that on the next "I'm Celebrating" button one of us has to wear! :rotfl:

Great pic of Tate with the Golden Nuggets! And yes, Henry found it quite fun to make Tate toot...over, and over, and over, and over...

I would NEVER have gotten Letter I, but I'm hoping I will stay caught up so I can catch J!

Yeah, or try to fit it onto a LGMH name tag! :lmao:

I love that shot of Tate and his nuggets. I have to admit, Henry was cracking me up! Funny how we both found it funny (henry and I) but he gets to laugh out loud, and adults have to pretend it's not funny and stifle their snickers.

and then followed you over here, reading Liesa's TR - I cried...

Oh Sandy, we so wish you could have joined us too!! Wouldn't that have been so much fun?? I don't think I'll have an opportunity to go back again until 2012, when I do the Wine and Dine Half. My hubby is the same way- run and you MIGHT be able to go. We'll see. :confused3

I'm so with you on wanting ot get back there- and Yes, like you, I'd run to get to. Please do PM me your number!! (Hint... did you know you can split the Half and do a Relay??)

Corner....bend in the road....same thing. I can't believe you couldn't find her with that detailed description. But at least she came to your rescue, and I'm glad that you got to watch MSEP and Wishes together.

See explanation below your post. I really WAS at a CORNER! :snooty: And yes, I could have left her there all night. :rotfl2:

I'm thinking that maybe it didn't really happen...;)

I'm thinking that maybe it didn't really happen...;)

No, really it did, it DID!!! But Dan said he isn't going to post squat until the 3rd! :scared1: B'sides..... I think there might be reference to some of this in his newest game- so don't want to spill too many beans.

Booyah! West Coast be representin'! :cool2:

Hrm...although being that a few of us are in Oregon, perhaps this is a better smilie: :hippie:

That's right! Good one on the hippie smilie! :lmao: Makes me want to run out and find Cannibis Healing Center right now. :rotfl2::rotfl2: (not really.)

Oh maroo - I wish I could see those pictures on my stupid work restricted computer. My son graduates in a few weeks - I think! (fingers crossed)

Great update, Mary!!! Heck, did I miss how you got out of the track predicament??

MSEP - we saw this on our very first WDW trip in 1981 - we went twice yr and I hated that parade - could not get the music out of my head for days. They they took it away and along came SPECTRO....well, don'tcha know, I MISSED the MSEP something awful! Last November my friend Janet and I able to see it again and I'm wishing it stays around for my next visit - although 2012 is probably pushing that wish! Thank you for posting the pics - I can hear the music as I type. :)

Liesa, do you think you'll really do the Wine and Dine half??? It's so hot then - you are brave!! It would be GREAT though!! :cheer2: I want to do a Disney 5k (MS keeps me from trying the half), but I can't seem to talk anyone into doing it with me...maybe Rosie?!?! We know she moves like lightening!:thumbsup2 I wouldn't be able to keep up.;)

Wine and dine in 2012?

I'm in for Jan 5-10 for the Marathon weekend! :cool1:
:faint:

but I'd love to get to Disney for Food and Wine fest to be sure! Sept 2012?
hmmmm....

Great updates for both Liesa and Maroo! I agree about MSEP - it doesn't beat Spectro. Beautiful tulips Liesa. Looks like a chilly day though.

See! We told you there would be drama- gotta keep on track Christine! (yuk, yuk)

Funny how something that becomes familiar becomes something we end up loving. Not that those things/places are so wonderful (well, in this case it is haha) but more that they are what we grow to be comfortable with and associate happy memories with.

I really hope so, and that is my aim. I am taking it one workout at a time, and am only on Week 2 (AGAIN!) of my C25K. My hope it to do at least one this summer, maybe 2, then ramp up the training to tackle a 10K. If I can do it in under a 16min/mile pace, then I"ll have what I need to qualify for the Disney race. Finances might be an issue- but I'm saving my pennies. :yay:

As for doing it in October, that is the season that appeals to me most at Disney. Until I get to do a MNSSHP, I'm not going any other time.

:faint:

Be thinking on it!!! It's not for sure, but it's the next realistic time frame for me. I LOVED going in early fall last time, and the thought of a night race with an after hours party in EPCOT sounds dreamy!!

You finished the last race, and I have zero doubts you can do it again!:yay::yay:

Great updates for both Liesa and Maroo! I agree about MSEP - it doesn't beat Spectro. Beautiful tulips Liesa. Looks like a chilly day though.

Someday, I'll get to see Spectro, but am happy with getting to see MSEP as much as possible until they bring it back!

IT was FREEZING!! The wind made it pretty uncomfortable.

Have to say I am a Spectro Fan too !!Although I like the MSEP tooo !!

Great to have two that you like! Then you can be happy with whatever they give you! :goodvibes

Traitor! :p

( you know I'm teasing???:thumbsup2)

OH boy- this is going to be one humdinger of a trip, Ladies. Twilll be interesting if you are both alive when you get back! :lmao:

Liesa, lovely photos from the DIS Meet (flowers are stunning).

Maroo, great update on the evening at MK and the Electrical Parade (which I really love). I too cry every year during Wishes...it just does something to you.

Oh Mary!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What a night, day. The emotion of Baker's day, getting stuck in the tracks and then no food. Oh wow! I'm so glad you had a little MSEP to help say good night but so sad you didn't get to eat, that is the absolute worst.

Liesa, you guys look ALMOST as cold as we were at....the thing we were at when I was trying to get a hold of you.

:rotfl:

That's right! Good one on the hippie smilie! :lmao: Makes me want to run out and find Cannibis Healing Center right now. :rotfl2::rotfl2: (not really.)

:rotfl: yeah, no one in WA would use that smilie. JK!

SANDY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1:

Liesa - good job on getting the DISmeet moving! You and Zach look so sweet amongst the tulips!:lovestruc Too bad there weren't more blooms - such a long Winter.

Mary - that's crazy getting stuck in the track!:headache: Good thing Liesa found you and rescued you! I love the ELP, but it was my first Disney Parade ever, so maybe I'm sentimental about it.
