ABCs of Trip Reporting, Pt. 2-Life Can Be Crappy and Then You Move On (3/7)

Usually "It's" isn't a proper noun....but it is when it's the name of the store.

You are correct Glenn.:thumbsup2 Quick Liesa, award him another point for such a succint explanation!

It never occured to me to consider shopping areas for the game. Now I know better! I'm ready for "J", bring it on Liesa!:goodvibes

Maroo, those are stunningly beautiful pictures of Lauren!:goodvibes She's gorgeous and looks so happy in them. I'm sure her parents were thrilled with how lovely they turned out. So sweet.:goodvibes

And yes, I'm waiting patiently for your next update! Ok, perhaps not so patiently but I am waiting.

This was fun! Tough, but fun! Well, since you dropped the hint a few times I almost picked The Incredibles at the Dinsey Animation Building...however, it wasn't a two minutes walk so I thought that would be a no go. Being married to a engineer....I'm going to take you at your very word.

I hope J-L will be easier- this one gave me enough grief... ;) Did I give the 2 minute rule for this one? Now I can't remember if I specifically said that for this round. I wonder if I need a rule book printed up and mailed like the Publisher's Clearninghouse?? :lmao:

See! Liesa. I wasn't the only one who took you at your word of being within a two mins. walk. :smooth:

OK, that's it, I'm going back to check now.

I KNOW! I'm so proud of Rosie!!

RoRosie's got the goods on this Round!

I know, I'm right there with ya on this one.

:sad2:;)

I'm happy to hear you liked it, I'm concerned it will give me the urp's if I go on it. The last one I loved up until I didn't anymore. One day, out of the blue, I started getting motion sickness on that ride and it was no longer to be. Do you think the same will happen on this version? I hear it's all the same motions, lots of rocking and quick jerky moves. I'd rather hear the review from you though. :)

The last time I tried to go on a swing, you know, the ones on a kids' playground? I thought I was going to throw up the entire rest of the day! Blecho- no more!

Well, you could ask Glenn wether he lends you his rules committee... :rolleyes1

And just a general comment: I must say that Allears is a wonderful website... ;)

I think his rules committee must be tired. :lmao: I like to work off of the principles of Marv's game- a dictatorship.

I almost put in allears as well, as I use them almost daily for all kinds of info. I LOVE their Blog Central stuff. I guess I thought most everyone on here would know about that one, and it would have been redundant. There are also a few trivia sites that I hit up once in a while, but can't ever remember the names of. It's been AGES since I've been in that mode. Know any off the top of your head??

Well shoot I was thinking Indiana Jones, but I kept looking in the wrong park! Next time go with the gut feeling! Bummer.......:sad1:

I think the next one will be easier... had I not taken the photo, I doubt I'd have gotten it at all, and would probably have gone with AK. Seems like it almost belongs there more themeing -wise. :confused3

Do I need to red card you all?? Stop, so I can catch up on my repsonses that date somewhere back to ohhhhhhh, like LAST WEEK!!!! :scared1::lmao::lmao:

Don't have a basement, but if I did it would certainly be on the extensive list of possible locations......

:scared1: I was kidding, Marv!!

Not normally, but I do like Rum drinks.........and cheese! :rotfl:

Me too!!! :cloud9: But probably not together. :confused3

Believe it or not, that one word isn't what finally triggered it for me. That late night post was because I woke up with acid reflux and couldn't go back to sleep. I figured while I was up I would check out the DIS and read one of your responses and I think you had the word "character" in there and the light bulb finally came on! Now if I can just figure out a way to have acid reflux hit immediately after each new installment of your contest, I can figure out the answers a whole lot quicker! :lmao:

Well, then I hope Letter J upsets your ulcer just as much. And yet, I did throw in that word character (and even threw in "family" there too!) to help you out. No one, except you, it seems, caught it. Good job!

Yeah, being an Engineer myself, I guess I was trying for strict adherence to the rules also. Made me rule out Idol since it is American Idol Experience. I don't think I was originally even considering the Animation
Academy section of the park since it wasn't (relatively) nearby. :confused3

OK, you get a Publisher's Clearninghouse rules book too.

Ok look what I found on another TR I'm following!!! I do believe that is the coke/telescopic picture you posted!!! It figures I would find this AFTER you revealed the answer!!! And where were they?? At DHS!!! Grrr.......

:headache: DANG!! Rotten luck this time.

About 5 minutes. I knew where the picture was right away, but then couldn't think of (or find) any rides, attractions, or dining nearby that started with "I". Then shopping came to mind.

You got lucky this time. We'll see what J brings... I think you had shopping on the brain since you had just finished up writing about Judy's big Father's Day gift to you.

I actually found the picture of It's a Wonderful Shop also, but since the "I" word in the title most assuredly isn't a Proper Noun, I didn't mention that one.

It's, as Glenn says in a later post below, is part of a title, making it a proper noun. Titles, names, specific places that are named are all proper nouns.

Now that I know when you stress a rule additional times and violators still get a shout out and potentially bonus points in the future, from henceforth I shall make sure I include even the rules violations in my myriad answers...... :sad2:

And you may or may not get points for any of them. But still the limit is 2 per round, unless I say so.

No - LOL! Could you imagine what that google search would turn up?!?!?

Thanks! I did see that when I searched but I can't watch YouTube videos at work so I skipped it. I will have to look at home.

Uh, well, not ever having actually done that... no I cannot imagine it. :lmao::lmao::lmao:

I can't watch videos either, even FROM home. Living in the realm of the dark ages sux sometimes.

I'm still here.... lurking! :lmao:

I had no idea where that picture was taken... we have never seen Indiana Jones- which is on my mental list for next time BTW. ::yes::

Life has gotten hectic the last few weeks, only to be totally crazy by next week. :sad2:

I was wondering where you'd gone off too- but know that this is a frightfully busy work season for you. Make that Disney money while you can, Tim!!! :thumbsup2 Plus, Mel needs extra TLC and attention now. Late night pizza and ice cream runs will surely make a man tired.

I'm baaack!

I know, no one remembers me - but I've got a lot of catching up to do! Life keeps getting in the way - not in a happy way unfortunately -

so DH decided we need to go to Disney- but the catch? Have to run 13.1 miles :faint: since thats NO FUN!

I'm going to sit back and do some catching up on old friends I've not met (except for Maroo! LOVE love the pictures!! Lauren looks so relaxed, and joyful!)

OMGOSH!!!! As I live and breathe!! Sandy's BACK!! WOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOTY!!! :welcome: Darlin'! I thought we'd lost you forever. And GIRL!! WE MUST TALK- like for real's on the phone. I am shooting for the 1/2 as well, but not until 2012.

Sounds like things might have gone weird for you, since we've all seen you last. Hmmm... Let us know how we can support you in whatever ways you want to share. We're still here if you need us.

I'll PM you soon!

Usually "It's" isn't a proper noun....but it is when it's the name of the store.

Thanks!

I think I missed an update somewhere in there while I was away...Looks like it had a lot of great pictures of castle colors! :thumbsup2

You did! R U doing a TR for your trip?? Now I don't even know. I'll check your siggie out after I hit reply.

Store? I thought that was a facade........ :rolleyes1

Good point. Not good FOR a point, but good point.

You are correct Glenn.:thumbsup2 Quick Liesa, award him another point for such a succint explanation!

Nope, Glenn still only gets 2 points like everyone else who gave me what I accepted. But I am thinking of mixing up the points next round. You know, it actually got me wondering exactly waht part of speech the contraction It + is really is. I know the it is a pronoun of the 3rd person. But coupled with is throws in a "to be" verb. huh... I'll ask my girls if their lit/grammar teacher has taught on that.

I am still thinking on J, but honestly, am feeling a bit overwhelmed with the DIS right now. I am woefully behind on everyone else's threads. Glenn, and several others have updates I need to read or re-read and comment on, I am needing to do my installment for the girls' Meet, and figure out J!! UGH!! Plus, I am meeting some very special people TONIGHT!!!!! It is mostly a surprise, as it's only been mentioned in passing a couple times. More later on that- but it means another installment.

I thought it was all that time Judy spent in the Emporium while poor Glenn was out on the sidewalk holding her a viewing spot..... ;)
And you may or may not get points for any of them. But still the limit is 2 per round, unless I say so.
Danged Dictatorships!!! :headache:
You know, it actually got me wondering exactly waht part of speech the contraction It + is really is.
Oh NO, not another person who isn't sure what the definition of "IS" is???
Touche, my friend. You got me there. :rotfl2:
I was talking about your answer!........and don't go around talking about my touche!!! :sad2: Molly is bad enough.......

You did! R U doing a TR for your trip?? Now I don't even know. I'll check your siggie out after I hit reply.

No, I'm still working on the TR for my New England trip in March. I'm not sure I'll do a TR for this one. But I did upload a bunch of pictures to FB on Sunday night.

I'm baaack!

I know, no one remembers me - but I've got a lot of catching up to do!

I remember you Sandy! Welcome back! :) I just got back in the groove after a four month hiatus and I missed it and everyone and am glad to be back!

I am still thinking on J, but honestly, am feeling a bit overwhelmed with the DIS right now. I am woefully behind on everyone else's threads. Take as much time as you need - we will still be here! I've decided to catch up on everyone's TR's (including yours) by reading the chapter links only. As much as I love the banter, 4 months worth is too much to read! Ooohhh! Can't wait to find who you are meeting tonight! Have a great time!

Maroo - Lauren is beautiful and always amazes me with her abilities! Congratulations to her!!!! :thumbsup2

With a little prodding from my friends, it is my pleasure to bring you the next episode of DISMeet Done Right!

Saturday morning came bright and early, as Tammie had to take off for a small town east of Salem for an A-Company party. Camille would probably have loved to have slept in, as we’d been up until nearly 1:00 AM the night before, but the local woodpecker has been more regular lately than a pre-colonoscopy patient. Brddddddddd… brdddddddddddddd…. Sorry ‘bout that Camille!

Early on I had thought a circuit of some local wineries around my house would have been fun, but at the last minute Toni called and was VIOLENTLY sick. She thinks she may have gotten bad food somewhere, and had already been dealing with a sinus infection, so there was no way she nor Terri could make it to join us that day. So with only the 2 of us, we had to come up with something else fun to do. I mean with no designated driver, we’d have to flip for who was going to imbibe.

In days gone by, there were many Dutch and German immigrants who moved into the Valley to take advantage of the fertile soil and mild climate. One local business grows tulips on dozens of acres that turn into a veritable rainbow of colors right around mid-April. In addition to the tulips there are quite a few local cottage industries that bring their wares to display such as candy makers, sausage makers, jewelers, and even a local carver who turns out hand-carved wooden shoes. Really an entire day can be made of it, and our family has gone out there several years.

So that’s where we headed with my son Zach. The weather was iffy, at best, and the tulips, we knew, wouldn’t be in full bloom yet, but we set out to have a nice day regardless. When we got there, we were welcomed to the first line of profit making- parking at $10 a car. Then we moved into the 2nd most lucrative piece of small business Americana- the gift shop. We found all kinds of things in there that were pseudo-Dutch like lace table runners, blue and white ceramic trivets, and keychains and postcards and all the other stuff made in China. I did buy a couple of postcards to mail out ;)

Resisting the urge of turning materialist, we headed out to find the tulip fields. On our way we were treated to all kinds of earlier blooming flowers like daffodils, narcissus, hyacinth and the like. The patio area just outside the gift shop really was a beautiful display of spring!

IMG_20110402_160108.jpg

Dutifully following the signs, we wound our way around where we saw our first “ride”. Obviously, they took a lesson from our most beloved place, Disney, and gave a complimentary “tram” ride. The wind was quite cool as we bumped along, and soon we arrived at the only field that really had any blossoms. For the next 20 minutes we ambled along the row admiring the purples and pinks and whites and yellows of the different varieties.

IMG_20110402_163015.jpg

Camille, I know you had some close-ups, but don’t see them on photobucket??

But looming on the not too distant horizon was a WICKED looking cloud that was threatening to drench us, and we decided to head back to the “festival” area where we could further browse the wares and take shelter if needed. Besides our time was running short, and SOMEONE kept calling/texting us- well, actually, she was texting Camille, because I was doing my very best to be a rude hostess and not answering my phone. Oops! Sorry, Cynthia! She was telling us that her situation had turned in our favor and she would indeed be able to join us afterall!! OH THE JOY!!

Safely “trammed” back, we enjoyed the booths of the vendors, and Camille treated us to a corn dog and lemonade!! We split it, and it was a perfect small snack to tide us over for the impending pig out of food that night. One of the last “displays” had us reminiscing going to AK! Who’d a thunk that we could hold a real live parrot (Camille knows the real names of them) and pet them.

Camille, I know you had a picture of the birds too, but didn’t see them either.

It was fun spending quite a bit of time talking to the rescuers, but that cloud was getting closer and soon, Cynthia and Tammie would be arriving back at Party Headquarters. What kinds of fun would the 4 of us get into that night? Did you know we had a themed dinner? Find out the answers to these intriguing questions next time on

An update!!!! YIPPEE!!!

LOVE flowers and those fields are fabulous!!!

Looking forward to mischief about to unfold.... ::yes::

It really looks like you're in Holland, not Oregon. The tulips must be awesome when they're fully in bloom.

So….

Where was I?!?!?

Liesa called to find out where I was…and I was heading into the MK! After my awesome day with Baker and his family, we parted ways and I headed to the Magic Kingdom.

It took me a while to catch a bus from the POP to the MK and I was running a bit behind. Although the wheelchair I was using was a lifesaver, it took quite a bit longer to get loaded on a bus and get anywhere, really.

Liesa described her location, but I was having trouble following her description. She told me she was at the Hub, but for some reason I had the opposite side of the Hub in my head…so I was on the wrong side and it was CROWDED. September is an awesome time to go to Disney - the crowds are generally not bad at all - but when you have only a couple of times to catch MSEP and Wishes during a week with two Night of Joy events - it made the few days that you could catch both a crowd magnet!

So I made my way through the crowd but I could not find her! She kept telling me she was in a corner by a rope and all I could see was a round street…which was really confusing me! Where is the corner in this big round hub?!?

So…if you can picture this…I am on the phone with her and trying to drive and trying to avoid the people that keep darting in front of me and trying to find her…which was just a recipe for trouble…

I was not paying attention to where I was going and starting driving right with the train tracks…this presents a problem if you are driving a wheelchair, because the little wheels in the front and back of the chair are the perfect size to get STUCK in those little tracks. :rolleyes1 So…yeah…I got stuck in the tracks! So I am like…Liesa! Help! I am stuck! Which is terribly funny now, but was quite embarrassing when it happened. :lmao: :rotfl2:

So…she showed me her corner. We were situated in the bend of the road right HERE…

disneysept2010day2401.jpg

You could see the castle right in front of us. We still had some time before MSEP started. There was no way my wheelchair was going to fit where Liesa was - just too many people! And I didn't want to obstruct anyone's view. So I parked it out of the way behind a tree and hobbled over and sat on the ground.

It was so cool to be there with Liesa! We talked about our solo days. I shared the Baker and Mickey story. We were just chilling out when we saw a commotion…

Notice the famous train tracks…:cool2:

IMG_1087.jpg

But see the light on up towards the castle? Security had turned on these big flood lights and there were some people gathered just across the street close to the castle. I didn't see anyone get carted off in cuffs or anything, so I assume maybe someone just lost something of value and they were needing some light to find it? :confused3

Of course, Tate tried to help them find whatever it was……

IMG_1089.jpg

But to no avail!!

Pretty soon it was time for the MSEP to start! I have to admit that I don't love this parade as much as Spectro - I think I like the Spectro music a lot more, which really makes the parade for me - but I do love MSEP, too!

I don't have enough room in this post to put all of my pictures…so I will post part II in just a minute….

It was time for….

disneysept2010day2425.jpg

I love this train!

disneysept2010day2420.jpg

Being close to the rope was cool because we got a great view of the floats and the castle in the background made for some cool pics!

disneysept2010day2430.jpg

disneysept2010day2456.jpg

I caught Alice waving to us!

disneysept2010day2475.jpg

disneysept2010day2495.jpg

disneysept2010day2506.jpg

I love this picture of Hook and Peter Pan fighting right under the clock of the castle!

disneysept2010day2570.jpg

A sweet little dwarf came by to say hello! I love this part of being up close on the rope!

disneysept2010day2633.jpg

And another dwarf!

disneysept2010day2645.jpg

And my FAVORITE float! I just love this one!! And he looked right at us! :goodvibes

disneysept2010day2696.jpg

And I love the end!!

disneysept2010day2715.jpg

I thought I stayed for Wishes….but I have NO pictures of Wishes. I probably decided that I would enjoy it more if I didn't look at it through a camera lens…??

Regardless…I am sure I cried… It had been a day full of wishes being granted and I have years worth of wishes being granted in my head as I watch that fantastic firework display! So I usually cry.

What a great night! :cloud9::cloud9::cloud9:

Liesa wanted to get a Dole Whip for dinner…but I don't really like Dole Whips and I had decided I wanted something from the POP for supper. So we split and I headed to the bus stop.

This was one of the nights during this trip that I had some bus trouble. :sad2: Usually people using wheelchairs are basically put in the front of the line so that they can load first and not run over anyone's toes (trust me, this is for the safety of anyone sitting around me when I am trying to parallel park in the bus!!) ;)

But tonight there were several people already waiting in wheelchairs and Disney was double parking the buses. (When Disney double parks the bus, only people that can walk on the 2nd bus can load.) So it took me quite a while to get back to the POP. So long, in fact, that the POP food court was closed…so I don't remember eating anything that night?! :confused3 I am sure I ate something! Liesa actually beat me back, I think?? I can't remember…but she had time to get a Dole Whip during the time I waited around for the bus. HA! :upsidedow

Oh my gosh!!!!!

SANDY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have wondered about you for ages!
So glad you are back! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

(She allowed me to call them by their familiar names rather than the royal name, “Joseph Garibaldi William Fitzgerald III.)
LiesasWDWPix2010214.jpg

and found mischief in opening Tate’s hind quarters. Boys never change throughout the ages, do they?

LiesasWDWPix2010215.jpg

Love our royal name. I will try to fit that on the next "I'm Celebrating" button one of us has to wear! :rotfl:

Great pic of Tate with the Golden Nuggets! And yes, Henry found it quite fun to make Tate toot...over, and over, and over, and over...

"Grilled Cheese, Please!"

I was BAWLING! And then this....

But Mickey was not done with Baker!

disneysept2010day2148.jpg

WOW. Truly awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love this story so, so much. And I will start crying EVERY time I think of it!!!!!

I too like to watch other kids interact with the characters. It's watching pure magic. Love it.

What a perfect day for the Baker family. Sigh. :cloud9:

And how nice that you two could meet up for some MSEP! I've read about the double-loading buses issue, that is awful. :headache:

I would NEVER have gotten Letter I, but I'm hoping I will stay caught up so I can catch J!
