I keep reading that everyone thinks the ABC Commissary is horrible... Yet when I ate there in 2003 I thought it was awesome for a counter service. We even ate there a couple times! I never did get anything like a burger or any of the go-to's that a lot of people seem to order, I got the more unique sandwiches and what-not.

So is it that they've changed the menu since I was there in 2003 and it just got really bad, or is it that their basics - like burgers, pizza, chicken fingers, etc. - are pretty bad and that's why so many people dislike this restaurant?

I'm just curious since we're starting to plan out our next trip to WDW and I'm not sure if we should include the ABC Commissary for dining or not. Thanks!

We first ate at the commissary a few years ago and really enjoyed it but the last two trips the food was not good and we will not be going back again. The menu items have changed and the selection is not really any good. You can find the menu on this website but I don't think they even have the standard burger/chicken fingers any more. Unfortunately the Studios is the one place where there isn't really a great CS place to eat.

I got the fish last month and I was not impressed. It was okay, but definitely the worst meal of the trip.

The menu has changed significantly from 2003. But even worse, the quality of the food has gone down-hill. Not to say that the other counter service places at the Studio's are significantly better either. If you're really looking for something good, leave the studio and hop a boat to the Dolphin and have a burger at the Dolphin Fountain.

ABC Commissary is the one place for me that everyone seems to hate but I like (not love, but like). Whenever I'm in DHS and it's mealtime, I tend to go there. First time I ate there was a few years after 1989, last time was October, 2008. This last trip, I had the Cuban Sandwich and really liked it.

Ditto! My thoughts exactly!

We like to get breakfast there (bagel sandwich), but haven't eaten there for lunch.

In 2006 they had a nice breakfast platter (which I remember as being OK). In 2008 they only had breakfast sandwiches but we had an abundance of counter service meals so we ordered. I thought they were terrible and the coffee wasn't much better. Never been there for lunch and don't plan to go back.

Everytime my family and I are at Hollywood Studios we always go to the ABC Commissary for lunch, because we think it's got a good atmosphere and we have never had problems with their food.

We went Aug 08, and none of us liked it. I really wanted to like it, and the food looked good when everyone was walking by me with it, so I had high hopes, I went in with an open mind even though I had heard some not so great things about it here on the DIS, I got the cheeseburger, mom and sis got the Fish and Chips and nephew got the kids chicken nuggets (I think) I ate half my burger, mom and sis ate less than that, and my nephew only ate the sides (grapes I think maybe apple slices)

we couldn't even eat the dessert.

Like I said, I wanted to like it, it just didn't happen:confused3

I really hate that place. But, I actually really liked H&V, which everybody else seems to hate. Everybody has different opinions. ;)

The one item I had on our last visit, probably three years ago, that was just flat-out nasty (and remember, I like everything) is no longer on the menu.

Maybe, just maybe, then, I can give it another try. I just can't figure out what the deal is with the Studios and counter service. Nothing really stands out, although we've done pretty good with the Backlot.

I think this place is still ok. It does have the best quick service dessert. The strawberry parfait is amazing! We're going to try again in May.

WE'll be eating here in May. The Boss loves the Cuban. I usually just get a burger, which, I find to be quite fine for me.

I second the vote for the Strawberry Parfait.

In all of my many years of dining at Disney, it's the only restaurant crossed off my list for good! Even the Parfait is not enough to win me back!

Our family likes the Commissary for counter service. I know we're in the minority, but we like the selection, the food is hot and fresh and it's a nice, cool place to sit and recharge. I love the Cuban and the chocolate dessert they serve there.

Ditto on the Cuban sandwich. We ate there this past December and the burger and fries my wife and son had looked "passable." Nothing fancy, but I really enjoyed the Cuban sandwich. It was quite tasty!

Thanks for all the replies. :) Bummer to hear that the menu changed... I guess the next time we go to WDW we'll do a walk through to see how things look and smell and go from there.
