I know I should do the Fantasmic Dinner Package with F being cut back to 2x week in Jan. but I really don't want to pay so much for a restaurant I really don't care to eat at (especially with paying adult for my 11 year old)

So my alternative thought is this - Do a big breakfast before getting to DHS - maybe Cape May and walk over - and then go the the ABC Commissary before going to get in line for F.

Anyone eat here ? Any thoughts? I figure if the girls are hungry after F. we can get a snack back at WL before bed?

Pretty much all of the counter service restaurants are all about equal in quality and type of food offered. ABC Commissary can be somewhat limiting for all parties eating. I would recommend Rosie's - it's right outside the CS location right outside of Fantasimics entrance. There are several stands there: burgers, chicken, salads, pizza, icecream, hot dogs. . . it's a good variety.

We liked the Cuban sandwiches at ABC Commissary. We also liked the seating, both indoors and out.

In all other ways, it was unremarkable.

ABC Comm does offer Cuban sandwiches ... which is a nice change of pace. The burgers there are terrible though. For counter service at DHS I have a hard time beating Pizza Planet for some reason. The food's always fresh and hot.

I am open to any CS suggestions and what you think is good at each,

I guess I really want to be sure doing CS before F and skipping a TS will be doable with the limited Fantasmic showings.

What time do you all suggest I eat and/or be in line for Fantasmic.

Please keep your ideas and food options coming - Thanks!

Even though a lot of people hate ABC Comm, we really like the cuban sandwiches and my DS's love the chicken nuggets. Just be sure to avoid the burgers...yuck.

I don't know why, because the burgers are presumably made out of the same ingredients everywhere, but ABCs are consistently horrible. Somehow, we often seem to end up here, probably because it is relatively centrally located.

The cuban is pretty good. The curry bowl wasn't too bad either.

Never done the Fantasmic package, but I think you are smart not to eat at a restaurant you don't like just for the seating. Crowds in January are not usually too heavy, and the Fantasmic theatre holds something like 10,000 people, and I don't really think there is a seat in there where you wouldn't be able to see what's going on. If you line up 45 minutes - an hour before show time you really should be OK.

As far as Counter Service goes... DHS is probably the park with the fewest choices. Burgers at Backlot Express (by Indiana Jones) are pretty good. And though I haven't been there, I have heard good things about Pizza Planet and the Studio Catering Co. You could always think about taking the boat over to the Boardwalk for dinner at one of the restaurants there and then boating back to DHS for Fantasmic, too...

Good luck, and have fun whatever decision you make!

Due to the Cuban sandwiches, ABC Commissary is our favorite cs place at Studios. THey also have fish and chips which are very good. We enjoy the indoor seating area, we like to go at an off time, its never crowded. They also have these enormous cinnamon rolls my kids love. And a pretty decent Asian salad.

I never do the Fantasmic dinner package. I have been all times of the year, including Christmas week and not had a problem seeing Fantasmic, sometimes mulitple times per trip, since its my favorite nighttime show. Just allow an hour beforehand to get in, if there's a later show see that one. The dinner package area in the Hollywood Bowl isn't even the best seating.

Whenever my family and I are at Hollywood Studios we always go to the ABC Commissary, because it's one of our favorite counter service locations.

Haven't eaten at the Commissary in a while but we like the Backlot Express for the Southwest Salad and the Grilled Veggie Sandwich. They also have the standard burgers, hot dogs and chix strips.

The last time I saw Fantasmic I ate at ABC commissary. It was crowded, but good.

I had the cuban as well, and it deserves all the recommendations. Delicious and different.

Or at least different compared to the other real CS options for fantasmic. What I did on the year before (before I really considered the commissary) was grab food at Rosie's All American Café. It's close and there's also a pizza place nearby (name does not come to mind). I would have gone for pizza had I not had it for lunch. You can get your food early and take it in with you for fantasmic. (Or at least you could then) The burgers were unmemorable, I would definitely recommend getting chicken or pizza, or going to the commissary.

The Backlot express would probably work too...I HAVE to eat there this time!

I guess we must really be strange..........we love the cheeseburgers! We love going to sit in the air-conditioning and 1/2 my family eat Cubans and 1/2 get cheeseburgers. I don't know what everybody is saying is wrong with them? It is the same burger as everywhere else, just a more relaxed place to eat it at :thumbsup2 .

I always order the Cheeseburger at ABC Commissary and I found nothing wrong with it.

We just ate at the ABC Cmmisary last week and found it to be pretty good for a counter service restaurant. I think we both had cheeseburgers and I don't recall them being anything but good.

I would definitely NOT do a Fantasmic package. That stadium is huge and we didn't have a problem getting setas for 4 last week and the parks were very crowded.

we had the cheeseburgers in May and they were awful. They had no flavor, I was dissapointed because I don't eat hamburgers often and was really craving a good one!

Okay, I didn't want to admit it earlier, but we enjoy the cheeseburgers there as well. Dh and I usually split a burger and Cuban between us and I have never thought they were any different than the other 5000 burgers I have eaten at WDW through the years.
