It's usually taped the first weekend in December.
Friday is usually the stage shows and this usually does not affect the crowd level except right in front of the castle. Those people right up front were chosen to stay and are usually dressed festive. However, I was able to get very close and get a good photo of Vanessa Williams. They do not stop you from staying or trying to get closer.
Saturday is usually the parade float taping. Typical Saturday crowds plus the crazy Main Street crowd. They do not just let you stand there, they rush you through the park unless you were chosen to stand there. It's a very long and boring day.
Sunday is only reserved for what they may not have gotten to on Friday or Saturday. One year, 2003 I believe, there was a blizzard in NE so Regis and Kelly were late arriving and so they did the float taping on Sunday instead. I got to see what it's like to walk down Main Street, well to be rushed rudely down Main Street, to get out of the way. The rest of the park was fine crowd-wise. Typical Sunday crowd.
More info on who is performing and how the passes to stand there and watch for a few hours will be announced as it gets much closer...probably November.
