I was reading through some christmas threads but didn't see anything about the ABC parade taping. we are going Nov. 29- dec. 4. when is the taping usually and is it a separate ticket? this is our 1st Holiday trip so it would be fun to see that. thanks!

The parade will most likey be taped on December 5, so ya'll will probably miss it. I think Parade taping day is a logistical nightmare at MK - we avoid it like the plague. Here's one of the more recent thread about parade taping day:

Parade taping is usually the first Fri/Sat of December. I don't think the official date has been announced yet. ? It's held during the regular park day. Not sure how they're handling the "audience" this year yet.

Personally I'd avoid the MK on those days. Main St. and the hub are jammed, and once the taping is over (mid afternoon-ish) those people will be flooding into the rest of the park.

Not sure of the particulars this year, but in the past they don't just allow people to hang out on Main St, or around the performance stage.I think there is a selection process for it.It is a logistical PIA...I avoid it

Ditto here. Up until a year or two ago, you would only be able to get into the taping part with an annual pass. Apparently last year, which I missed because I was on a cruise, they allowed additional people. But I understand you cannot get near where they are taping, etc. And the minute the thing is over, the park is just jammed....

It's usually taped the first weekend in December.

Friday is usually the stage shows and this usually does not affect the crowd level except right in front of the castle. Those people right up front were chosen to stay and are usually dressed festive. However, I was able to get very close and get a good photo of Vanessa Williams. They do not stop you from staying or trying to get closer.

Saturday is usually the parade float taping. Typical Saturday crowds plus the crazy Main Street crowd. They do not just let you stand there, they rush you through the park unless you were chosen to stand there. It's a very long and boring day.

Sunday is only reserved for what they may not have gotten to on Friday or Saturday. One year, 2003 I believe, there was a blizzard in NE so Regis and Kelly were late arriving and so they did the float taping on Sunday instead. I got to see what it's like to walk down Main Street, well to be rushed rudely down Main Street, to get out of the way. The rest of the park was fine crowd-wise. Typical Sunday crowd.

More info on who is performing and how the passes to stand there and watch for a few hours will be announced as it gets much closer...probably November.

We will be there Nov. 29-Dec. 6th and I am still wondering about tickets. We have the 7 day park hoppers but do you need a separate ticket for the parade taping? If so, how do you get these?

thanks all for your advice! maybe it's best that we will miss it. Lot's more to do at xmas time:santa:

FWIW those who are in the "audience" end up doing more waiting around than much else. They don't film the entire parade/show from start to finish. They film segments, sometimes repeating over and over until they get the shots they want. And some of the entertainment you see when it's televised isn't even filmed at WDW.

And yes, definitely plenty of other Holiday Happenings! :santa:

Thanks for the info about the taping. We will be at WDW 11/27- 12/6. We will avoid MK on 12/5.
