Not sure if I'm asking in the right forum, apologies in advance if I'm not.

As we are off to Orlando 11 weeks today and this board is taking over my life at the moment :) I was wondering if there is a list of all the abbreviations used for the places people stay. Not booked accomodation yet and I find one of the ways to look for good ones is to see where people stay on a repeat basis.

I can figure some of them out but it's hard work lol

Cheers

are you referring to onsite accomodations?

I'm not sure that i know all of them but here are the ones i remember:

GF - Grand Floridian Resort
BC - Beach Club Resort
BCV - Beach Club Villas (the home away from home category - time sharing, but you can also rent these as a guest - anything with villas in the name is in this category)
YC - Yacht Club Resort
BWI - Boardwalk Inn Resort (i'm not 100% sure if that's the official name)
BWV- Boardwalk Villas
CR - Contemporary Resort
WL - Wilderness Lodge Resort
WLV - Wilderness Lodge Villas
AKL - Animal Kingdom Lodge
Poly - Polynesian Resort
POR - Port Orleans Riverside Resort
POFQ - Port Orleans French Quarter Resort
CBR - Carribean Beach Resort
CS - Coronado Springs Resort (not sure if this is CS or CSR)
ASMusic - All Star Music Resort (not sure what people actually use for this one)
ASMovie - All Star Movie Resort (all not sure if people abbreviate this one or not)
ASSports- All Star Sports (again not sure how people actually refer to this - i usually just see a generic All Star to refer to all of them together)
Pop - Pop Century Resort
OKW - Old Key West Resort (this is in the home away from home category - ie. Villas)
SSR - Saratoga Springs Resort (also in the home away from home category - i.e. villas)

FW - Fort Wilderness - both a camping groups where you can bring your camper and also there are cabins available for rent

I think that's everything but i may have left something out

if you want to stay onsite, first you should decide how much you want to spend in order to determine the category - Deluxe, moderate, Value, home-away-from-home.

the categories break down as follows:
Value - the 3 All Star Resorts and the Pop Century Resort
Moderate - CS, CBR, POR, POFQ
Deluxe - GF, YC, BC, BW, Poly, CR, AKL
Home away from home - OKW, SSR, BWV, BCV, WLV and cabins at FW (which aren't part of the timesharing thing, but are still considered home away from home)

There are online sites that have the rack rates of the various onsite hotels, to give you an idea of how much it will cost you.

thanks! How could I have forgotten the AKL??
it's a great place.
I'll edit my answer to include it.

Thanks for the quick responses Standy by for my next question lol
