AAAHHH!!!!! Help me please!

Well, after literally 6 hours of sleep since Sunday, reading everything I could get my hands on, we decided that BLT was for us! We definitely will be putting it to use, with HH as an off year break every now and then. We have some really good friends with a lot of common interests that we talked to that are DVC, and that really pushed us over the edge. It's like I told DH, we have a great cross sampling of opinions here, and that really helped. Sometimes, though, hearing it from lifetime friends solidifies things. Yes, making another financial committment in this economy is scary, but I am learning that life is short and to be enjoyed, so we bit the bullet. The papers should be on their way soon! Now, just getting DH to sign them.:rotfl:

Congratulations and welcome home!!!!

But remember, if someone continues to go to WDW yearly, paying cash for their trips, then the lines for financing become blurred. I do agree that everyone needs to look at their own situation and know what they can afford, but any vacations are, in and of themselves, luxury.

That was us. We have been spending between $2000 - $2500 cash per year for the room portion to visit WDW yearly. Had we not bought in at BLT, we would continue to do this and at the end of the day, have nothing.

That is what I used that to decide whether or not DVC made sense for us. I was not necessarily looking at whether or not I was going to save a lot of money, but rather, what I would gain for the same yearly cash outlay.

Now, I get the same trip each year and end up with a 1 bedroom instead of a hotel room at CR. As it turned out, I didn't need to finance through Disney. Between my Disney Visa and another source, I will have it all paid off by next winter, so at some point, there could even be a "savings".

I guess, for me, whether you pay finance charges, or you pay cash for a room, makes not difference, as long as they are figured in when someone is making their own decisions.

Amen Sista !!:cloud9:

Just wanted to say that I think you'll love BLT - with it's walking distance to MK... and DVC will allow you to slow down and enjoy your vacations.

Welcome HOme,

Goldi

Congrats and welcome we r very happy owners at 2 resorts and love being on the monorail and are excited about our first blt trip. Family of 4 here and have to say studios, minus the big ones at okw, were to small for us and we were hardly in them, I do agree with other posters, knowing that wdw is a yearly trip it really slows your pace and makes you stroll down main street instead of duck in and out like lightining mcqueen.

Hey flipflop mom, is me from the July board. Mazel Tov (jewish for congratulations) on your purchase of BLT. We just returned from SSR. I was a little disappointed to not run into other Julyers. We did get together a couple of times with Ashtonsmom99 which was great. I saw Disneybarbie breeze by. But anyway, I'm very happy with my DVC purchase. If I hadn't taken that money out of the market and spent it on DVC, it would have been toast. I only wish I'd rescued more money from the market before the crash. Our SSR doesn't run out until we're in our 90's, so I'm totally not concerned about it. Its titled in my revocable living trust, so it'll pass to my heirs automatically. You're younger, you may outlive your membership.:) We're already trying to figure out how to rent some extra points to stay in a treehouse villa during Spring Break. Seems an enthusiastic DVC mom promised 3 young men a trip to Disney when they made Eagle Scout!! ;) We calculated the only time we could go for this trip is Spring Break. They must make Eagle by February (they all turn 18 that month) and are going off to college in the fall (VaTech). Summer probably will be filled with jobs etc. Besides, I'm not going back in July again!! uh uh.. not me.... not with all those tour groups. I could deal with the heat and the sudden drenching storms if not for the tour groups! Goodness:scared1: what a fright. Besides, I love Flower & Garden. I've been at least 3 times for that. So wonderful and relaxing. Or was that only taking 1 kid instead of 3? Anyway, even Food & Wine wasn't as fun. Not that it wasn't fun. It certainly was.. and we went to MNSSHP during that trip, but really..... more food? Does Disney need MORE food? :rotfl2: I gained 3 pounds and we weren't even on the dining plan!! All those ice cream sundaes... that's what did it. Mmmmm Girardhelli's. Anyway, Welcome Home !

Thanks Mindy! Glad you had a good time, DH and I agreed that it was the best trip ever, best week of our lives, but he said it was no where near a vacation! He called it the week of a Bazilian Brazilians! No slur intended against any ethnic group, but the group thing got us! We are looking forward to spending our time together, at WDW, but at a slower pace. Paperwork arrived yesterday! Love the tote bag! Yes, it's a $17,000 tote bag, but it's cool! :lmao:

:thumbsup2 Very similar to us. With 5 of us, before DVC, the least expensive accommodations were at the POR, and really 11 days in one of their rooms can get overwhelming due to the lack of space regardless of how much time we spent in the room. :scared:

This last trip 5/09 consisted of us staying in an OKW GV and a 2 bedroom at AKV SV with our wonderful friends. After vacationing with DVC I could never go back. And let's be honest, my 8 y/o son will only be able to fit on that trundle bed for only so long. Then we are looking at either getting 2 Value rooms minimum. Plus having a kitchen and washer/dryer cannot be beat. We aren't cooking gourmet meals while on vacation but it sure is nice to scramble an egg for breakfast or throw in a load of dirty swimsuits. :cloud9:

We will vacation at WDW or Disneyland every other year- that's just us so it makes perfect sense to take advantage of DVC and all it has to offer. :woohoo: Our family will only grow so investing in our vacation future is no different than looking toward any other future event. Family vacations are important to us and I want them to be as wonderful and affordable as possible. pixiedust:
