Hello all! A few questions about AAA and Disney booking:

1. We are not currently AAA members. Is the Disney discount worth joining?

2. If we book through AAA, and a better discount becomes available, do they update your reservation? For example, if Disney offers free dining during our stay, can that be added later?

3. Since you get free parking staying on-site, is the AAA parking free?

4. I have $225 in Disney gift cards. Can they be used to make a payment through AAA?

Sorry to have so many questions. Just looking to see if this is the best option for us. We're planning way ahead for a trip at the end of May, 2013.

Thanks in advance!

I booked 2 nights in a Little Mermaid standard room at AoA, a few days later I rememebered about the AAA discount and called them. My reservation went down 10%.

If another discount comes out later you can take that, but you can't double -dip and add a AAA discount to it.

You get free parking if you stay on-property. There are AAA parking lots that are closer to the gate, you either need to book a package through AAA or buy your tickets there- but it totally depends on your local AAA office on who they give AAA Diamond Parking vouchers to. Some offices will not give it to ticket-only purchases.

1 - Discount varies so check to see what AAA is offering.
2- yes, but again it may vary depending on your agent - so ask
3 - AAA is the closest parking available just behind the handicapped parking
4 - our AAA took the gift cards last year

I used disney gift cards at my AAA office to pay for my trip this summer.

Disney gift cards can be used if you have rooms, packages, etc. booked thru Disney as payment is made to Disney. They can not be used to pay for tickets at an AAA office as that payment goes directly to AAA.

I think it's worth joining...not just for the AAA benefits, but for the road side assistance...I found out that the unique things about them is that they cover you as a person, not your car....I have a membership with myself and my daughter. When she was 5, her babysitter broke down and was able to use the tow because my daughter was a member! Life saver!

We had the exact issue on our last trip. We booked the regular AAA package and then Free Dining was offered. I just called my agent and they were able to get the booking adjusted. She explained to me that there is not an additional AAA discount offered on top of the Free Dining because Free Dining is only offered on a non-discounted package, but I would get to keep the extra AAA Benefits of the Firework Viewing Area, Diamond Parking, Storytelling Experience and Diamond Discount Card!!

The AAA Parking is a special parking lot closer to the entrance of the park. The way it was explained to me is that as a resort guest we get free parking at the theme parks and with the diamond parking pass, this just gives us entrance to the specific lot...there is no addition charge. But we never used it...Disney transportation brings us to the front of each park which is better.

I have not used Disney gift cards, but my agent said I could.

I just was checking rates with my agent for January 2013 and AAA rates were already in!

Have fun!
