Is it worth it? How/what are the discounts on things? Any Disney hotels included in discounts? DH and I are considering for roadside needs, but what exactly are the other perks? TIA! :upsidedow

I work for AAA however each AAA club is different in what benefits are offered to members. Best bet is to just go to the AAA site for your area and look over all the info. You get crazy discounts when you work for AAA, but even as just a member you can get discounts on movie tickets, shopping, and resturants in your area. Still look at the information for the club in your area as each club can vary.

I know it's been wonderful for us.

Not only are there discounts with Disney, but hotels all over the country, and some other places (you'll get a list, or maybe it will be on the AAA website?) And the roadside assistance is wonderful! Hubby has a tendency of accidentally locking his keys in the car...3 times last year. Each time they came out and got them out for free. He also had to leave his car for a long period in the parking lot of his company while out of town. It was winter and the battery went dead. Again they came out...free. THEN just last week his starter failed...they came and towed him, free to our mechanic.

Also got a free tow from the airport last year when my mechanic had worked on our brakes and had tightened them too tightly, causing them to rub (and scaring me to death)...I was there, after dropping DH for a flight, and alone.

If I hadn't had AAA I would have been lost. (I don't do the car thing, that's DH job)

That was a freak year, we had had it for years and barely used it, but last year, it paid for itself tenfold!

Good luck with your decision! :flower3:

You receiver 4 service calls per membership year per member. So for me I have a total of 8 service calls, since its me and D(almost)H on my membership. AAA covers you not the vehicle, so if you are in the car when the breakdown occurs you will have benefits. There are sneaky ways around that but we don't talk about that :lmao: . Basic members receive free 5 miles of towing and you are charged per mile after that ( again that charge varies between clubs) Plus members receive 100 miles of towing before being charged a per mile charge. Basic member receive up to 50. (again that varies) in locksmith service and Plus membes receive up 100. in locksmith services. Basic members are charged for the fuel they receive if they run out and Plus members don't pay for the fuel, plus trip interruption services. Remember it will vary from club to club. I am a Roadside Service Agent, I can quote you those benefits all day long :)
I know that in the travel store of my AAA branch I got nice hardside luggage that was 250. for non-members for alittle over 80. I saw the Unofficial Guide to WDW for 7. plus there are the AAA car care centers where you can get a 5% discount on parts and labor and a free before you travel car check, that is with my club..not sure about others. Find your local club and call and talk to membership services they will tell you all you have ever wanted to know about membership and discounts and benefits.

I didn't add that I am a plus member (forgot really, DH has a 3/4 ton truck, so we need the extra)...we are out of Chicago and have never been charged any additional charges...

I love our AAA...

We have definitely reaped the benefits of our membership. This is the 2nd year we've saved over $300 on our Disney pkg. (staying at the YC or BC each time). We get discounts on movie tix, ice shows, Six Flags (which we haven't done yet), etc. in addition to having the roadside assistance (which again, luckily we have not used yet  ). It's worth it to us... but it really depends on how many of the benefits you'll use and if you're looking to use it for Disney, you'd have to go during peak season and stay moderate/deluxe to make a real savings over value resorts during peak season :thumbsup2

Wow! :worship: :worship: Lots more info that I thought I'd get! Thanks a bunch! I think we are going to go with it. Last May 1 week b4 our wedding we had to shell out $200 for tow and a new tire for DH's car. AAA would have been great that week! We don't want a repeat of that 1 week b4 our Disney trip.:rolleyes1 Thanks again! :woohoo:  :woohoo:

We get a AAA discount on our car insurance. It's 5 or 6% off, so that alone pays for our memberships.

I've had AAA since August, and so far it's saved me:

20% off my stay at CBR this August (10 nights) = $335
50% off Lake Compounce tickets (2 tickets) = $34
$3.50 off of movie tickets (8 times) = $28
Free roadmaps for my car (5 times) = $25
$2 off subs D'Angelos (4 times) = $8
10% off a $220 camera at CircuitCity.com = $22

Total saved with my AAA membership = $452

Not a bad deal for a $46 membership!

:yay: :yay: :yay:    :cool1:
WOW!! That's some serious savings! I love saving $$, so I think we're gonna do it! I'll have to look into my local savings now.

I used to be a AAA member, but dropped it when most towing companies around here stopped honoring it a few years ago over a fee dispute. But, I have towing on my auto policy now for only $3.60 a year. To tell the truth I have never needed a tow.

And, I found that when I book hotels online that offer the AAA discount, I can get it as no one asks to see the AAA card at checkin.

We keep finding nice little discounts aside from the "car" related aspects of AAA. We use it for hotel/motels, and when we were in New Orleans we got a discount on the river cruise - lunch included. I wouldn't have known about that at all except for a little sticker in the window of the ticket booth. A 30% discount is nice wherever you find it! We also got a discount for one of the historical tours - which I also hadn't known about beforehand.

If you keep your eyes open, you find AAA discounts for lots of stuff. So keep that card handy!

If you do any online shopping, these are some of the available discounts...

5% off at Barnesandnoble.com
15% off at FTD.com
10% off at target.com

There are also a number of stores that discount in store. You may need to print out a coupon to take advantage of those discounts.

how do you get the 15% off at FTD?

I got an AAA membership a few months ago when we went on our cruise.. we were going to fly into Florida a few days early and I found out that the hotel we were going to had a $120 discount for our stay with AAA membership so it was a no brainer for us.. we paid $50 for the 1 yr membership and got $120 off the room that we were going to have anyways..

There are many perks that I have found so far.. I was able to get a discount on our BlueMan Group tickets.. I know that we can also get a discount on rooms at WDW.. not sure if its all hotels or just certain ones as I havent used that yet for a room there.. but I do believe that you can get a discount on some of the tours at WDW.. or at least I think you can.. you might look more into that if interested..

I know you can also get discounts at Sea World too!

Well worth it for us. I got $200 worth of maps and guidebooks for our roadtrip to Graceland last summer for free. One service call (jumpstart, lock out, flat tire) and it pays for itself.

Through AAA.com, there is a link. You probably need to be logged in with your member information to access the link to receive the discount.

AAA members also get 30% off at LensCrafters. I saved a ton with that!

30% off eyeglass accessories
10% off conventional contact lenses, contact lenses solutions. A valid contact lens prescription is required. (US only)
