I've used this same AAA agent for our last two Disney vacations (in 2006 and 2007). So I called her to get a quote for August 2008, 8 nights at the Polynesian for DH, me, and the kids.

She comes back with just $200 less than Disney direct for the package including tickets (hoppers, no water parks) and the DDP.

If I'm doing my math correctly, 8 nights at the Poly in value season (August it is) would be about $400 off, if we're assuming rack rate ($340 a night) and the 15% off deluxes the AAA gives you. The last two years, I saved about $400 for our stays at the Poly, and we should again if I'm doing things correctly.

I called CRO and there was no code with my name--or I'd be jumping at that.

I told her no insurance, so that would not apply. I'm thinking she added the water parks or something by mistake? I'm now wondering if I should call another AAA agent or bug this one again (and I HATE bugging people like this). If I'm wrong on my numbers, I guess I'm wrong, but does it sound wrong?

Well- ask her to put it on hold (Disney packages will hold with no money for 2 weeks) and send you the confirmation. You can look it over and make sure everything is correct and you are comparing apples to apples.

If she books it online, she can email it to you. If she books over the phone, she can fax or mail it to you.

I was surprised the AAA package was not a bigger discount. Now of course I know your 15% rate should be a higher dollar amount then mine but the aaa package for 5 nights Pop Century Regular Season for 2, Dining plan and 2 1 day base tickes was only $97. Now I do know that any savings is a good savings but I'm tossing up going with room only seeing I have annual passes. Just thought Dining Plan would be a good idea seeing we are doing the Mother's day brunch and for sure 2 other table services. And it is really so much easier than carrying around so much cash.

Gotta think about it a bit more. I hate using travel agent (controlling? Me? Never! :) ). So not sure that the discount is worth not having full control :)

Good Luck checking on things and hope it was a mistake and you are due a bigger discount.

The AAA discount is only off the room part, not the whole package, I'm pretty sure. So the OP was saying it should be:

$340 per night
8 nights
Total $2720 + tax
Less 15% is $2312 + tax ($408 less)

The actual package total is more, but the discount comes off the room portion and is easy to figure out. Or it should be.

I would just call the agent and ask. Say just what you told us. :)

We've booked a package with AAA the past couple of yrs. We just booked again for the end of May and noticed what seems to be less of a discount. I think though that the new change in rates at the resorts is what has hurt ours. We always checked in at the end of the regular season (for moderates) and even though the summer rates would begin a day or two after our check in, we would be locked in to the reg. season rate for every night of our stay. With Disney's new rate policy, your rate is calculated on a daily basis meaning for us that only our first night is at reg. season rates, then it goes up to summer rates and then again the price goes even higher on the weekends. Our resort costs this year will be more than last year's and we are staying 3 less nights - and this is with the AAA discount. Boy, do I miss the old policy of locking in to one rate for every night of our stay! It also seemed like in the past we maybe got a little bit of a discount somewhere else in the package (tickets, dining?) with AAA and this year it is strictly 15% off room portion only. Still hoping for a PIN code or some other discount so we could stay longer but I'm losing hope for anything in May.
