My AAA TA is telling me that the only discount that AAA gets at the Wilderness Lodge is for a courtyard view for a package deal (room, pass, DDDP). When I called another AAA office, I was told that the Courtyard view was the only available room level at this time, but that if a lower level room (woods or standard view) becomes available, I can change it and be refunded the difference. Which is right? Should I just book the Courtyard view and be done with it or should I check a different AAA office to see what they say. I have a hard time believing that Disney would only offer a AAA discount for a package at the WL at it's highest priced level. What would you do?

I was just quoted the AAA discount on a standard view room at Wilderness Lodge. It was for a room only reservation though. Does that help any?

I don't think that the AAA codes/discounts are good toward anything but the room ressies, at least that is my understanding.
:confused3

My past AAA discount was for a standard room. I don't know of any AAA or Disney requirement that it be at a higher grade room. However, depending on the time you go, you will often find Disney special deals that are better than the AAA discount.

There are a certain number of AAA travel agency discounted rooms and another block of AAA room only discounts offered by Disney reservations. Call and book the room only direct thru Disney for the discount, AAA Travel Co must be sold out of their standard room discounts at WL.:goodvibes

A AAA discount can be applied to consierge levels, too. There must not have been availability on a standard room w/ the discount when you called.

The Walt Disney Travel Company allows AAA to discount a package for it's members, as well as room only. You can book a room only w/ a AAA discount yourself or w/ any agency. To get the AAA discount on a package, you must book with AAA Travel.

I just called WDW today and made a reservation for WL for next June. I got the AAA discount with no problem (I asked for a courtyard view if that makes any difference)

Always remember, if you get an odd answer, just hang up and call back.

best of luck,

As I want to include the deluxe dining plan & 10 day park hopper passes, I can't book just a room only and I can only get the AAA package discount through AAA directly, as Disney only offers the AAA discount for rooms only.

What I'm trying to find out is if the courtyard view is the only level that is discounted with the package deal at the WL through AAA.

Just hung up the phone with the main headquarters in RI. The TA first quoted me a price for a courtyard view room. After explaining that the standard or woods view rooms are significantly less expensive, asked her if the courtyard view was the only one offered as a package discount. She looked harder and she found the same package with a standard view for $60.52 less than my original AAA TA quote for a courtyard view. She did say that she could not find a woods view, but would keep checking. On the WDW website, it's difference of like $600+ between standard & courtyard. Not sure why this would be.

All WL views are available with AAA rate - the only stipulation is that there are a certain number of each type allotted, so they do sell out. But I booked a standard view last summer, in a package with the dining plan. And you're correct, there is a substantial price difference between standard and courtyard view!!

I'm sorry you're having such a hard time getting the correct info out of your agent! My advice is to run now - find another AAA agent. You don't need to use your local office. My AAA travel agent is 2,000 miles away from me but she's an absolute jewel. You just don't need the hassle - and if what you've already been put through is any indication, the hassle is just beginning. :sad2:
