I've been kicking around getting the AAA membership. It has some good discounts for here in town, but I am wondering about the Disney discounts on rooms. Can I get a few examples on how much some of you actually saved on rooms using AAA? I mean, have u actually gotten the 15-20% off that they tout? Thanks a bunch!!:goodvibes

I have the Poly booked for early July (before Value season starts) and received 10% off.....For our stay at the Contemporary (which starts during Value season) I received 15% off.

AAA discounts are good & fairly reliable. They do only have a limited number of rooms with the discount, but as long as you're flexible with your resorts, you can usually find something with the discount.

I Hope This Helps! :)

My AAA membership cost me $50 and I have had the ocassion to use it twice for what it was intended and also saved about $220 on our room at the Allstars too on 1 trip. It works for me!:thumbsup2

Here are two price quotes I recently received:

2 adults, value season
POR/FQ standard room
6 day park hoppers
Disney dining plan

Disney's quote: $2095.00
AAA's quote: $1780.00
Realizing Disney is ripping you off and booking a package with AAA: Priceless

Do the math! The card is an excellent savings and pays for itself right there with a vacation package. Plus, I also receive other discounts on shopping, other hotels, restaurants, museums, etc. I can't tell you how valuable the membership is! Plus, if you break down they tow your car for free!

20% off values and moderates during value season
15% off deluxe

15% off values and moderates during regular and peak season
10% off deluxe

No discount during holiday season.

Well, the rack rate for the YC when we're going this August was $315 + tax per night.... AAA discount was $267 + tax per night... we're saving approx. $300 on our trip :)

We are going in August, value season, moderate resort with 20% discount

CSR Standard room rack rate is $145.00 w/ AAA discount $116.00.
CSR Waterview room rack rate is $160.00 w/ AAA discount $128.00.

We just changed to CSR on 4/11. We were anticipating to stay at POR since last time we checked CSR wasn't available.

We have used our AAA card once already this year when our car needed to towed.

AAA Discounts at up to 20% off your resort accommodations can be a big savings. BUT you have to know how to take advantage of them. I'm stealing this from another post I just answered on the main board.

  1. Don't expect any AAA discounts to be substantial in December. Disney limits the total number of AAA rooms for any given date AND during their most expensive season "Holiday" which is around Christmas, my understand is they offer NO AAA discounted rooms.

[*]The amount of AAA discount varies by room type (value, mod, deluxe) and by the 'rate season' (Value, Regular, Peak, Summer, Holiday etc). You can save as much as 20% but you have to plan your trip accordingly and book EARLY to get that AAA discounted room.

[*]You may notice no rate difference because there are simply no AAA discounted rooms available. Most AAA agents won't tell you this because they still want the booking. As with everything - Caveot Emptor - buyer beware; do your research.

How do you know what the AAA discount is for what time of year?

  • Value Season up to 15% off at Deluxe & Vacation Club OR 20% off at Values and Mods & the Ft. Wild. campsites.
  • Regular Season up to 10% off at Deluxe & Vacation Club resorts OR 15% off at Value and Mods and the Ft. Wild. campsites.
  • Peak and Summer season up to 10% off Deluxe & Vacation Club OR 15% off at Value and Mods and the Ft. Wild. campsites.
  • No AAA Discounts during the Holiday season

A complete list of seasons and dates those seasons apply to what level of lodging is available here on the DIS.

You have to be SURE you got the AAA discount .. do your homework, know what the package will cost without the discount. And if you can, travel during one of the seasons with the higher discounts.

Thanks,

Knox

CanadianGuy is right on.

But, I paid $96 for an annual membership for DH and me. We get free maps and the very nice AAA guide books, too, in addition to towing with that.

We're staying at the Polynesian beginning on July 9, which is the first night of Value season for deluxes. I'm saving close to $400 over what Disney quoted me. Last year, we saved well over $300 for similar nights at the Polynesian.

So for us, it's definitely worth it. You also get some added perks with the AAA package, such as Storytime in MK, the parking pass (if that matters to you), and discounted shopping at Downtown Disney.

For us, it is definately worth it for Disney alone.

For 'plan A' for our upcoming trip:
2 rooms @ CSR in value season
2 adults, 2 children in room 1
1 adult in room 2
10 day tickets with park hopping and waterparks
DDP for all

Disney quote: $6153.32
AAA quote: $5680.47

Total savings = $472.85

I haven't gotten the AAA quote for 'plan B' yet - same party size, dates, package, and tickets in a 2bd villa at OKW - but at the stated 15% for a deluxe, we'll save $869.06 on our upgraded room choice.

Either way, I'd say the $48 membership is well worth it even if we didn't use it for other savings!

Canadian Guy,

Great information! I just purchased AAA with the intention of using it for a Disney vacation. I think we could use a sticky for AAA discount questions. I know that I still have a lot of questions. Like what does one do to make a CRT breakfast ressie at 7am on 180 days out? Isn't it true that those with AAA packages can't call to make their ADRs because the agent does it? I doubt that the agent will be on the phone to CRO at 7am to get a Cindy reservation and that's what has to be done to get it before it gets booked. A major drawback for me would be not being able to make my own ADRs.

Though the AAA agent can make your dining reservations for you, you are still allowed to do them yourself. I did, though my agent offered to do them for me.

Ditto. Although I relinquished "some" control over the main reservations to my AAA agent, I needed to be able to do everything else as I'm such a control freak:rotfl: :rolleyes1 :rotfl:  I made all of my own ADR's... you just use the AAA confirmation # when they ask for it :)

We have a AAA discount for room only at CBR of $116 plus tax per night. We also got a quote of like $65 per night at the Value Resort.

Don't forget the other great savings that AAA offers....AAA rates at other hotels on any vacation you take, maps, trip tiks, towing, service calls, discounts on tickets to various parks, museums, etc..... Go to their website and check them out!
