AAA Diamond Parking?

How do AAA Diamond Parking vouchers work? Do you "surrender" the voucher to the parking booth attendant, or do you keep it and display it on the dashboard along with the parking permit? Are the vouchers only good for the number of days of the plan you purchase through AAA, or are they good for the whole calendar year? Basically, are they reusable?

There is AAA parking close to the front of the parks. Many times it is just easier to park in the regular area and take the tram.

You never have to "surrender" your AAA Parking Pass. Sometime's you need to show the pass to the CM's that do the traffic control in the Parking Lots. At MK , just follow the signs that show "AAA Diamond Parking". (Basically , when everyone goes left, you stay to the right). There will be no one there to direct you at MK but when you get to the aisle there might be someone there to check that you have the pass. If you get to MK @ opening and it is in the "Value Season" , than you might do better in The General Parking area. Its a long walk from the AAA Parking @ MK to the Monorail. If you have little one's with you without a Stroller...it could be a problem.

At the MGM lot , they do a better job of Sending you in the right direction. They will keep "Passing" you off to the next set of Lot Attendants and they will show you exactly where to park.

Hope this helps.

It is good for the year. You leave it on your dashboard. I believe I had to follow the green line. epcot parking brings you to the left of the big ball and it is a very short walk across to the entrance. AK is more on the right side of the parking behind the handicap parking and it is a little bit of a walk to the entrance. mgm brings you pretty much to the right side of the parking lot (behind the resort buses). MK is around the handicap parking also. All the parking is pretty much is a short walk to the entrances so that you don't have to take the trams.

Does any AAA member qualify for this or is it a special feature? We are "Plus" members. I don't know if there's a level above that or not.

From what I understand you get one automatically when you book thru AAA. At least for sure if you book a package, not sure about room only.

Ah, thank you. We are members, but didn't book through AAA, so I guesss I'm out of luck. LOL

MariDisney,
Did you use any AAA discounts? Did you go through another travel agent?
If not you can talk with your agent to see if they can beat your deal, and if not see about turning it over to them and they get credit and you get the
parking bonus plus a couple other little goodies. I got one last time just by asking our agent if they had any extra. They usually do because not all packages have cars included. You never know. We really enjoyed using it last time. We were in the 1st spots a couple times! :cool1:

Good luck, YO

I am a AAA memeber.

During the past two years, we have just gone into our local AAA store and asked to have a pass. Since we usually travel on my hotel and frequent flyer airline points we have never actually booked a trip through AAA. I have bought park tickets there in the past, but this year, we just went in, flashed our card, and asked for a Diamond Pass. They gave me one with no questions asked.

A nice perk of membership.

My personal favorites are the AAA Diamond Spaces at Epcot. So close to the front. Usually, when we arrive there in the afternoon / early evening, we can find an open space VERY close to the front after someone has already left. Literally, steps to the entrance.

Since we rent a car, the AAA pass makes hopping a breeze.

My mother is a AAA member and I suggested she try to get a pass and they absolutely refused to give her one. She was coming to visit us in our condo, so she didn't need a package or anything from AAA at the time. She is in her 70's and has some trouble walking due to vasculitis (although not to an extent as to need a handicap sticker), and despite her asking them nicely if they couldn't give her one due to her condition, they stubbornly refused.

She explained that she was meeting her daughter who had made the other arrangements and was providing accommodation, thus the reason she didn't purchase a package from them, and they were unsympathetic and unhelpful. She has been a member for many, many years.

I've thought of buying one on ebay just to have it, but the few times I've bid, the price became ridiculous.

If it is later in the day, there might not be anyone checking for passes. However you need to know where you are going beforehand or you might wind up lost in their parking lots.

Does anyone have a AAA Diamond parking pass for 2006 they won't be using anymore? :wave2:
I know some people sell them...but maybe??? there might be a kind soul willing to spread some cheer??? :goodvibes
I would be SO grateful!!! :worship:

It depends on your local AAA whether they give you a pass outright. My AAA will only include the pass if you book a package. Other AAA offices in other cities will give you one if you by MYW tickets from them. You can only get them from AAA.

A very nice lady from these boards mailed me her pass so I could "reuse" before our last trip. The gesture was well appreciated.

As for the actual benefits, minimal unless maybe you like to arrive at the park during the mid-AM (which no time-planning, DISBoard writing, Unofficial-Guide reading WDW attendee would ever think about!).

They are irrelevant for MK and the TTC anyway.

At the other parks, they are of minimal distance savings 4~5 double-rows that the extra time spent trying to explain the what and why of these rarely used passes to the part-time, senior citizen parking attendants is barely worth it.

Imnsho, so many better park attraction strategies out there. Your mileage may vary. :teacher:

PM me and I can get you one. Oddly enough I have it from a client who is not going to be renting a car and told me to keep it here!

So it's worth using it at Epcot and MGM and not really worth it at MK and AK? I'd rather park in general parking at MK and AK (from reading previous posts) instead of the longer walk, especially since we get there before opening and have 2 young boys (we get a stroller in the parks).

the one at the MK is behind the disability. So you get to walk to the TTC. if you park in the regular parking Disney sends out a shuttle.

Epcot is next to the disability parking - not behind it. So it is closer. It is really close to Epcot kennel (same parking).

Studios is behind the disaiblity parking. But there is much less disability parking here. I would think that AK would be the same.

AK in the morning is a LONG walk - they don't send the shuttles out immediately - they really expect you to walk in this park.

My AAA will give you the parking permit if you buy your WDW tickets from them. they also give it on their packages (plus the AAA lounge)

For a 3 or 4 day pass it doesn't matter really where you buy it. (on the 6 to 10 - especially 10 day passes - I only buy through ticketmania)
