We have gotten these in the past when we booked through AAA, now that we own DVC can we still get the pass even though we are no longer able to book with them? (we are AAA members)

It depends on your local AAA office's policy.

Some offices give them out freely to all members without having to book or buy anything.

Other offices provide them if you buy a multi-day park ticket from them (this is the case for AAA Mid-Atlantic in DC).

I haven't heard of any that only provide them if you book a full-blown AAA vacation package through a AA travel agent, but that's a possibility.

Our local AAA office here in CT and the one I dealt with in the past in another area of CT only give the pass if you book a package trip with them. I am currently booked through AAA in MA and will be getting one with our package. When we booked through Disney last year, I called several office around us and was told you had to book a package to get the pass.

Thanks, I did hear back from my local rep and they do only offer the pass to those purchasing a package

eBay has them all the time. We usually pick one up for around $7. While they plainly state they are not for sale and are non-transferable, we've never had a problem using them.

I'm relatively certain the DIS guidelines prohibit posting information that would assist anyone getting around WDW rules...

But is it a WDW rule? Isn't it an AAA rule that is being broken?

Yes - I'm in a pedantic mood.

Well, given that WDW owns the property (and so, the parking lot), and any/all AAA perks exist only because of and in conjunction with Walt Disney World, and that if there were no WDW there would be no AAA Diamond Parking - can't it be extrapolated that this is, therefore, a WDW rule? Further, can we agree that to advise someone to purchase an item which its issuer prohibits being transferred or sold is inadvisable?

I'm in a defiant mode today ;)

For the past several years the parking pass that comes with a package has specific dates on it so be careful what you are actually getting. Can't understand why anyone would pay money for these when the only park it really has any benefit is AK. Since these are free for AA members, they shouldn't be profitting from a free perk.

On which part of the post you quoted?

AAA perks are available to, and are intended for, AAA Members who meet the organization's criteria. Example: AAA Travel Agent arranges my trip to Las Vegas, I don't meet at least one requirement they have for granting the Diamond Parking Pass or any other Walt Disney World perk.

When the traveler qualifies, they get the perk/s free - as in there's no extra cost AND no credit/refund for not accepting/using the bonus. This one specifically states it can't be sold or transferred (the original recipient doesn't actually own it, so it's not theirs to sell, it's AAA's).

Therefore, anyone selling it is violating the usage rules.

Well, I'll definitely give you the second point, but I'm not ceding the first one, since that would imply that any rule violation on WDW property (or even on the way to WDW property) would be a WDW rule violation (e.g. someone speeding down the highway on their way to MK was breaking a WDW rule, not just the law).

Sorry, got that part. I meant to ask specifically about... Can't understand why anyone would pay money for these when the only park it really has any benefit is AK.

So if I got my package through AAA ( as I get the other point)
... why is it only really good at AK?

AAA parking permits are expressly for those that AAA gave them to. Otherwise, anyone at all could walk up to the nearest AAA office and ask for on. It is a perk of using the services of AAA. And as all the AAA parking permits I've seen have said, right on them, 'not transferable, not for sale', I think it's pretty easy to see what AAA's official stand is here.
If someone wants to go and pay for something, that someone else paid nothing for, and that the company that issued that something has said is not for sale or transfer', then I guess nothing anyone says here is going to make a difference.

As to why some say they are good to have vs some who say they aren't all that wonderful???
MK..you still have to park at the TTC and take the ferry or monorail over..and the AAA parking area is close enough to make it somewhat hard to use the tram, even if you wanted to.
Epcot...AAA parking is a bit closer to the park entrance.
DHS...AAA parking is a bit closer to the park entrance.
AK....again, a bit closer but takes you out of the tram area.

I have been with someone who used the AAA parking permit. It was 'okay'..nothing I would pay for though.

Is it against Disney policy, and should we even be discussing it here, based on board guidelines??? Hard to say. Disney owns the parking lots, and they have an agreement (contract, whatever), with AAA to allow their permit holders the ability to park in the handicapped parking area (basically). So, is it a violation if someone buys a used AAA parking permit and then parks onsite at WDW? Up to each person to decide what to do. I think it's kinda against board guidelines, but not dead certain enough to call a halt.

We found the AAA diamond parking pass useful at all four parks. We were able to walk instead of having to fold the double stroller and hold tight to our one-year-old, three-year-old, and five-year-old and the diaper bag and drinks bag and stroller to use the tram.

We weren't rope droppers so the parking lot was fairly full when we'd get there and we wouldn't have gotten a close spot without the diamond pass.

Gee, you get to pick and choose only rules you lik eq:happytv:
