I posted this over on the Codes & Rates board, but it died a lonely death without a response so I thought I'd post here.

Does anyone know on which dates AAA offers their discount? I'm looking into a June 08 trip (even though we haven't been on this years trip yet! )

Thanks.

I don't know specific dates but I do know that we've gone in September, November, December, March, and May and have always booked AAA discount rooms.

I use AAA.

Generally only during Holiday season (the Christmas/New Year time) are AAA rates blocked out. You should make your reservations as soon as you can once you know the dates you want, though, because there are a limited number of dates available at the AAA discount, and they go fast during more popular times.

We've used AAA rates on all our trips. It does seem they come out shortly after Disney releases the new rates, and they do go quickly!

We have always received some kind of room discount when we book. We always book in January for July.

Note: January is Disney month at AAA. They gave us a coupon for a free clock or picture box last year. I figured it would be just some cheap plastic clock with Mickey on it or something, but it was actually a really nice statue clock of mickey through the years. Seems like a small thing, but it was one of my souvineers from Disney.

Not sure if this helps or not, but I have the AAA 2006 brochure handy. that year, June was considered regular season at all resorts. If you booked through AAA, you received 15% off the room portion of your packages at value and moderate resorts, and 10% off your room portion at Deluxe resorts. The Swan and Dolphin were 35% all year

I was told by our agent at Dreams Unlimited, we can't get the rates until 2008 rates are announced. So stay on top of when that happens and then you can book. We booked anyway, and the rates will be applied when they come out thanks to D.U.!
Hope this helps!

As soon as the dates are released you can call and they will tell. I just asked last week when I was at the AAA office and that is what they told me.

you can call or visit your local AAA and have them book your room now. It will be in the system and wont be officially booked until the rates come out, but you will have 1st priority before everyone else who books after the rates comes out. I have had to postpone my trip for 2 yrs now and every August my AAA TA has called me before Disney even released their rates on the website. Its usually only like a day or 2 before the new rates pop on the website but still earlier. I had to postpone my trip again and so now Im waiting (patiently :rolleyes1 ) for my AAA TA to call with my new rate. So just tell them all the info, dates, package, hotel, tickets and they will make a note of it and they will call you when they get a call from Disney when the new rates come out. The past 2 times my AAA TA would call me while she was on the other line with Disney, so she set everything up right then and there and then mailed me my new conformation.

couple of questions for you all - do you have to call AAA to get the discount if you're a member, or can you use the discount on the phone to Disney or on the website? Also, if Disney offers a better discount than AAA, can you apply that to your reservation at a later time? Thanks in advance!!

I just asked my AAA agent the same thing. She said Disney is good at letting you get the special if it is available on those dates you are booked. She took my requests and will get back to me when the 2008 rates come out. We booked the Boardwalk Inn.

I had booked a package for September at the CR MK view. When Disney offered free dining, my agent called to let me know about it. Unfortunately, she said Disney was not offering free dining for my room (I actually think she said they were not offering any more for my room), but she could have gotten me Concierge level at the Wilderness Lodge with the AAA room discount and the free dining. It would have actually been ~$200 cheaper than the package I already had booked, but my heart was set on the CR so I had to decline. Admittedly, it does sting a little bit knowing I'm paying for dining when most people there will be getting it for free and I couldn't get all the ADRs I wanted, but I've always wanted to stay at the CR :)

So you must use a AAA agent for the discount? The ones in our town weren't too friendly or knowledgeable so I was hoping to just tell the Disney agent my AAA number or use the AAA code online.

No, you don't have to use a AAA agent. I booked my September trip in June by calling CRO. I gave the CM my dates and resorts, and asked about the AAA discounts. I got the discount, no problem. My written confirmation noted that I would need to show my membership card at check-in. They didn't even ask for my number. I realize there are a limited number of rooms available with AAA discount, but that's going to be true whether you use an agent or not, I would think.

If you are going to book room only, then you can call CRO & get your AAA rate.

If you want a package (such as dining) you MUST go through a AAA agent to get your discount.

leahjade: I feel for you. I know more about Disney than my local AAA office so I am bummed that I can't book this myself because we are interested in the deluxe dining package.
