AAA booking question

Maybe you can at least get some answers

Thanks mmexpress, I'll give it a try tomorrow if I don't get replies to the emails I've sent out.

I live in Maine but booked through a AAA agent in Southern California. The agents here kept telling me that the price included the AAA discount (it was the exact same price that I could get on the WDW website). Marlayne laughed when I told her where I lived, but it was a great experience!

How do I find a travel counselor? I have a hard enough time find the number to my local office, let alone a specefic type of agent. It seems like all I get from any of them is the runaround about how "we all charge fees, have since 9/11". I even sent a link of the website to the agent who was helping me and there was still nothing she could do. It's so frustrating... The savings are barely there to begin with, and to pay for what should be included in my membership fee (not to mention that I pretty much did all the work and just said "can you make this reservation for me please") seems ridiculous...

I would go to the AAA website for your area and get a number. When you go through the phone menu, pick the option for membership or triptik. The person that answers should not charge and should be able to book Disney. Good luck!

I've booked several trips with AAA (just booked another one today, actually) and have never been charged a fee. We saved about $279 off the room portion of our package. If the price she's giving you is only $8 off, I'd find another agent. Mine's name is Janet Wilson, she's here in my local office in Savannah,Ga. She used to live in Orlando and just moved here fairly recently I think, so she's full of good info! I don't know the 800# to our branch, but the local number is 912-352-8222. Hope you get this all straightened out!

At our AAA, there are two different types of people who can book travel.

1) Travel Counselor- also does memberships, credit card apps, trip tiks, car rentals and regular hotel stays (Can do Disney and limited other packages). Does not or can't charge for services. Does not work on commission (although AAA will pay a small amount for hotel, car rentals and Disney packages)
2) Travel Agent- WON'T do trip tiks, or memberships. Will do European packages, cruises, car rentals and hotel stays. Usually charge a fee for their services.
So I contacted AAA and pecifically requested to get in contact with a travel counselor, and I received a response. She also charges the fee... Why can't I get around it? I don't get it...

Just wanted to thank everyone for their replies and tips, and let you all know that I used a referral from another diser to book my package for free.

I am glad to see you resolved it.
