AAA and Ticket Purchase

I recently joined AAA to get the Disney Discounts. Am quickly finding that the discounts are huge, but only if I go through Disney.

My question is if I purchase a Water Park one-day ticket at the park, can I use my AAA card to get a discount? Doesn't seem like much of a break through AAA direct.

When I call AAA to get prices, they are higher than if I were to call Disney direct and ask for the AAA Discount. Also, when I called AAA today regarding hotel rooms, they were showing no standard rooms at Yacht and Beach Club. When I called Disney directly, I got a standard room with the AAA discount rate!

I'm sure AAA "buys" so many rooms from Disney and their block was sold out.

From the quote I got from AAA and what I see on line at Maple Leaf Tickets, doesn't look like AAA has a great discount. So, my question is if I go up to the ticket counter and ask for the AAA rate, will I get it at Disney?

When I was pricing out my trip, I did not find any value using AAA

for tickets I originally used travelocity,
(WDW, Seaworld and universal)

I then cancelled and rebooked for a $10 fee to
undercovertourist for WDW
seaworld.com with promo code for Seaworld
(both cover the $10 fee and saved me additional $ for the same product)

Hotel and airfare was travelocity

mousesavers gave me better codes and coupons for rental cars

There are cheaper ways than AAA.
You just have to search around

(make sure you are including all taxes and fees when comparing the final prices!!!)

I use the AAA discount direct with disney which saves 10 to 15 percent when available. Then I still get to book each element myself.

No you won't. You would have to purchase your tickets through AAA to get the discount on them.

As far as tickets go, there are much better discounts to be had if you don't go through AAA. But having that membership still gives a lot of us our fall-back room discount. For those of us who drive, it also gives us booking and discounts for hotels there and back. And, I think, there's still a discount at World of Disney if you show your card (someone correct me if I'm wrong, please).

I think AAA is worth it for the Disney discounts and the million other benefits you can get from it. There are discounts on everything from rental cars to prescription eyeglasses to tickets to you name it. Plus obviously the fact that if you ever get stuck on the side of the road, you have someone to call and come help you. All of these things justify the annual membership fee for me.

So I can call Disney direct as ask for MYW Package with AAA discounted price? Am I correct? And this should net larger discounts than calling AAA and asking for a quote?

I know on room only, AAA offers discounts, but do they offer MYW discounts also? What is the std. % discount MYW at a Value Resort in Value Season?

One thing you might want to make sure is that the package you're being quoted on is the exact same from both sources. For example, Disney could've given you a quote based on a base ticket with no park hopper pass. Or they could've excluded the plus-part of the ticket. This would make their cost seem much less expensive and in turn, make the AAA quote not seem as desirable.

When I booked my land/sea package through AAA I saved over $300 going through AAA. I had a huge spreadsheet of quotes from Disney's site and a variety of quotes from AAA. AAA was always close to equal or cheaper than Disney depending on whether or not they could offer a discount for the resort I was inquiring about.

I was back and forth between AAA and disney's website a LOT before I booked. You should try calling and seeing what they quote you through disney with AAA discounts then go to AAA and see what they'll quote you for the exact same package.

You do get a discount at the World of Disney but you have to spend a certain amount to get it...I can't remember the amount though, but it's under $100, maybe $50? Or $15?

I tried calling the Pittsburgh AAA office. Calling Disney directly, asking for an AAA discount, was less expensive. I saved quite a bit by going through Disney. I'm getting 15% off the rack rate at the value resorts.

Each AAA office carries only certain WDW tickets, and they usually start with 4-day tickets. If you think you'll be back again in another year or two -you might want to consider buying 10-day non-expiring hoppers for about $412 from Ticketmania or UndercoverTourist. If you just want a 3-day ticket, you can get a 3-day hopper with 2 free days (5 days total) for $248/adult and $215/child from Ticketmania: http://ticketmania.com/3Dayers.shtml

For those wanting to do a water park - it's generally cheaper to pay for the water park fun and more option when buying your hoppers. I just ordered my tickets through AAA

I have done some research and a the tickets through my local AAA are cheaper than undercover tourist.

Maybe different AAA's have different prices. I am getting adult 7 day park hopper with water parks and more for 289.14 through AAA and they are 11.00 more through undercover tourist and that doesn't include shipping. I am not sure about the tax. I understand the AAA ticket prices include the tax.

I'm using an AAA discount for our room @ Pop in September. What I did first was check the Disney website to see if the rooms were available, then got a quote from AAA & called Disney Reservations direct. Plus by using AAA I found out that for an additional $40 each over what the cost of the 4 day park hopper pass we can buy Florida Residents Seasonal Passes through AAA. Made a big difference in how we're doing Disney in September. Plus, like the other posters have noted, you have so many other benefits with AAA. I like it because I have no worries about my daughter traveling back & forth to college since she's got AAA.

The cost should be exactly the same whether you call Disney or AAA, since it is a straight percentage off your room. Someone isn't pricing you right if they are not the same. I save about $300 each time I book my trip through AAA, you get 10-15% off your room, and a discount on tickets.
