AAA and Annual Passes

called CRO to check prices for April for Carribean and ASSports. I got the prices for regular and then told her that I had AAA (which I forgot to mention). After I hung up I figured it out and didn't realize that the AAA discount goes down if you go up in price. I thought it would go the other way around.

Then read all the info I could find about AP and it seems that it probably is the way to go even if I get just one for me to get the discounts and then get the twins tickets whenever.

Then I was thinking about the Dolphin/Swan also (see still trying to figure it out, lol

The thing to keep in mind is that AP discounts are not always offered and when they are they sometimes can be very limited.

Right now we are getting about 15% off on an AKL Savanna view room on our upcoming Jan 2004 trip. We have APs and this coming Jan will be our third trip on our APs so they have more then paid for themselves already.

We were able to get an AP discount on our Feb 2003 trip but for our 10n/11day trip the we just returned from on September 8th there were no AP rates offered from Aug 24th through the end of September. We ended up getting a great Labor Day special rate at the Dolphin for $99. We are hoping to be able to get an AP rate on AKL Concierge this coming Jan as we so enjoyed our stay there this past Feb.

I am being long winded but my point is do not buy an AP expecting a room discount because they are not a garentee.

I guess it depends on how long you will be staying also. I will be going for 10 days, so it is worth it to buy an annual pass. And I was able to get AS Sports for $54.88/night, tax included. Also take into account the discounts you can get throughout the parks. You don't need the annual pass until you check in, so you could call and see what is available and work out the pricing and budget without having to buy the ticket first. But they do go fast so if something is open don't wait too long to reserve! Good luck!

We have had AP's for years and I am unaware of any discounts throughout the parks. Which ones are you referring to?

Blondiex46, you should ask and if it is available, make the reservation if it saves you any money. You don't need it 'til you check in. You could wait 'til you get there, check in and tell the front desk you have to pick it up if they ask for it and they will let you check in without it, but, they will have to see it before you check out or you will have to pay rack rate if you don't have one before check out.

Sorry, I guess that was a broad "throughout the parks". I was referring to the discounts you get at select restaurants, some dinner shows, disney quest, some stores downtown, free parking, etc...
