AA or SW - still can't decide

I am having trouble deciding between these two airlines. The tickets on SW are about $51 more each, but you get two bags checked with no fee; AA charges $25 for the first, and $15 for the second. Each of us will check at least one, so the difference in ticket price is really only $26 at that point. Plus, I have read some reviews about AA that are disconcerting. I guess I have never heard negative feedback about SW, but I am sure that someone has had a bad experience; that just happens sometimes.

I am really curious if there is anyone who has flown on SW from the West Coast to Orlando, and if they can share their experience? Not that I am looking for negative feedback necessarily, I just am curious about their planes, reliability, on-time/delay, ect.

There's plenty of good and bad about both airlines posted on the web. A quick Google search will get you a lot of information. Keep in mind that another advantage of AA is you can choose your seats in advance.

I think PP meant that on AA you can choose asigned seats ahead of time at no charge.

From personal experience we have never had a problem flying SW from west coast - have done so multiple times. We haven't flown AA in over five years. We had such a bad experience five yeas ago that my husband swears to never fly with them again.

We decided to go with SW. A lot of this had to do with the baggage...once I made a preliminary packing list, I realized that for fourteen days I will need to check a lot. The baggage fees at AA would eat up the difference in ticket prices. I am getting excited now; plane tickets purchased, room reservations made, ADRs made!

On American Airlines you can chose your seats before the day of your flight. On SWA, you have no assigned seats.
