Are there any particular exercises or work-outs that give you trouble? What do you do when you encounter ones that do? Do you have substitute exercises that you replace them with? Do you/will you make it a goal to keep trying them in order make those exercises easier? Curious to hear your tips and tricks!
Hi everyone! I fell off the healthy wagon a bit the last few days. My twin boys had their triennial meeting, which is basically a 3 hour meeting about their special education programming. It takes a month or so of evaluations to prepare for this. Last week one of the teachers called and told me some upsetting news and since then I haven't slept and ate my way through a few bags of food, lol.
One of my boys is struggling to meet his goals. They are both autistic, but they have very different kinds of autism. It was hard to hear some of the results - he did soo poorly he didnt even have a score on many of the items. It's not fair, because there is so much more to him than that stupid evaluation. At least during the meeting the teachers talked abut his progress. He used to not have eye contact, nor could he hold a pencil. This year he is greeting people with eye contact and writing some letters and numbers independantly!
My other son did great - so well that he was released from PT and OT and he doesn't even have to do a full day summer program anymore. (I'm actually nervous about this - he still has many behaviors and needs support).
Anyway, I think writing out my feelings will help me let go of some of the feelings that are "making" me eat.
XOXOX
I totally understand where you are coming from. My oldest son has huge mix of problems. Not Autism but many other things that it would take too long to list them. It is so hard to watch your child struggle. We had no help from our school system and at the beginning of grade two we actually took him out and had to pay for a private school just so he could get the help he needed. He struggles so much and if I even think about it too much I will start to cry. Anyways you are human and the stress of just wanting the best for your children can get to you. Try and focus on the good things he has made progress on and try not to think too far ahead. Focus on the next year when trying to figure out what is best for both of them. If I start to think about my sons future I can stress myself out so fast. As far as your eating just keep trying. What you have done is done so forget it and move forward. I hope you get some sleep tonight. ((HUGS))
I maintained through the first week. Well 10th I was up .9 and then the 11th and 12th I'm down .3. Want to see 1-2 lbs next week. Will fit in more exercise. And keep consistent with the MFP food tracking.
Off to read some of the thread. Try to get a feel for who is here and all. Got a date with some weights this afternoon. And when my dd is home from school around 4 we will work out time to do dancing games. We wanted to last night but by the time we got to it it was 10pm so we went to bed.
I was a member years ago. Loved the gym. I drove a bit further for the location with pool/spa. Not a fan of group exercise but I love alternating treadmill and exercise bike. I used to break up the boredom by starting on treadmill 15-20 minutes and moving to the bike to finish. Sometimes I'd go a little bit on elliptical machine too. Then I'd head to weights. I so wish I could afford the membership right now.
We've all heard that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and it's true! It gets your metabolism going, and sets you up for success for the rest of the day. But it's also the most often skipped meal, mainly due to time constraints.
Do you say breakfast every day, or are you more likely to skip it? What are your favorite/go-to breakfast foods? If you usually skip, are you going to make more of an effort to work breakfast into your routine?
Previously I was a skipper. Now I try to be sure I eat something. Sometimes its breakfast type foods sometimes cold pizza hehe or other lunch/dinner type stuff. Just depends on what we have on hand and how I feel. I'm working on getting back into the oatmeal mornings. This morning I did oatmeal with chia and flax mill added and little brown sugar and honey(I just can't do it straight).
I agree that brown sugar is wonderful on oatmeal, but honestly, if I add some fruit and just a few drops of stevia, I find the oatmeal sweet enough and very enjoyable! You could try bumping down the amount of sweetness you add gradually until you find an acceptable level and you may discover that just a tsp. of brown sugar is enough!
Those sound great and I should make some and keep them on hand for DH. As a low carb eater, a quick and portable breakfast is usually the most difficult thing for him.... and he is NOT a planner. Thankfully he works from home 90% of the time, but these would be great for those mornings when he is heading out and running late!
I love oatmeal any time! Sometime I make a double batch for breakfast and have the leftovers at lunch! Isn't malt o'meal hot cereal just essentially cream of wheat? Maybe I'm not thinking of the right thing. I'm not that familiar with it. Is it presweetened?
*******************
Okay..... I decided to scrub my kitchen floor by hand because I cannot seem to get the crud out of the textured areas any other way. I scrubbed (on my hands and knees with a scrubbrush and rag) for over an hour, did about 1/2 of the kitchen..... but of course I still have the other half, the entire hall, and I probably should do the downstairs bathroom as well (they all connect)! My hands, arms, and shoulders are actually trembling from the effort. And the sad thing is that it doesn't look that much better without a close look! Grrrr...... but at least it is an upper body workout! So I took a coffee break to waste some time on Facebook and hop over here to say hello! So...... HELLO!!! Back to the floor so I can finish it before lunch!................P
Oatmeal eater here too. I'll try stevia instead of brown sugar some day. I have packets I had purchased for tea but prefer local honey(also supposed to help with my allergies anyway) when I get out and find some.
I prefer the hands and knees scrubbing of my floors too. Just don't always have the motivation or energy to do it. Mine needs it bad. I try to keep it up with swiffer though for a while once its been deep cleaned.
I know another person who doesn't care for breakfast foods so her breakfast choices are always rather unconventional..... chicken noodle soup or a ham sandwich are two that come to mind. How about planning a lunch or dinner with leftovers SPECIFICALLY to have for breakfast the next day? I've even had veggie burgers for breakfast when the fridge was bare!..........P
Yes I know some people that prefer sandwiches for breakfast or non traditional breakfast of any other foods. I love eggs I just don't often have those.
Nice walk and good for you doing it even in cold. I love walking when its cooler here in Phoenix desert. Though I get cold related rash/itching on my legs when I do it sometimes. I have long summer of 110+ coming up so enjoying our colder than usual winter.
Good morning, losers!! It's our first RESULTS WEEKEND of 2016!
Post your results here in the thread, and, as always, make sure you give the percentage of your progress so I can track it. That's the only number I need so if you don't want to give your weight or anything, that is totally fine!
Example for results posting: if your goal is to lose 4lbs and you've lost 2, you'd report that you're at 50% of your goal. If your goal is to walk 100 miles and you've walked 30, you'd report that you're at 30% of your goal. That kind of thing.
Post your percentage any time between now and Sunday. I'll get the progress chart posted sometime Sunday night or Monday morning.
QOTD for Friday, January 8, 2016
Do you have/use any tricks when you weigh-in each week? Not eating before hand, going to the bathroom first, not getting on the scale with wet hair or in your shoes, etc.?
I weigh nude after bathroom(just urination, I usually have to rush right there) first thing. I do know drinking lots of water helps flush out bloating. I do not like to weigh with shoes, heavy clothing or wet hair either. lol
This is a day before ritual that I have but I drown myself in water the day before my weigh-in. I have found that I have much better results if I'm just drinking water all day long. I tend to drink lots of water throughout the week anyway but I really up my intake on Fridays.
The day of I weigh first thing in the morning, after using the restroom, and without clothes on lol. It's kind of embarrassing to think about my little weigh-in ritual but I can't do it any other way! I think that's part of why going to WW meetings didn't work for me. I need to be able to weigh myself.
Yep so similar here. When I did WW weigh ins years and years ago I made sure I picked out lighter weight clothing. I didn't want heavy jeans, belts or shoes to make it off. I tried to keep the same type shoes or slip offs.
I lost 2lbs this week which puts me 25% towards my goal for January.
I have not started exercising but I have been making better food decisions and I really increased my water intake.
Only drinking 1 glass of sweet tea or diet coke per day. I have been drinking about 60oz of water daily.
I weigh first thing in the morning. I get up go to the bathroom and before I get in the shower I weigh.
Hopefully this week I will increase my water intake to about 80oz daily and do better logging my food in MFP.
My username is SEP1210.
Great job. I began to love water after giving up soda. For the longest time when going out I'd have soda or lemonade but started just getting water the last few times I've gone out to eat.
I've eaten something for lunch every day this week. And haven't gorged at dinner. I'm also averaging two liters of water and at least 10 minutes of exercise a day.
WELCOME @CruisingCamper ! It's never too late to join!! Welcome, welcome, we are so happy to have you!! Read over our ins-and-outs on page 1 and then jump right in with the conversation! Feel free to tell us a little about yourself, your goals for the month, and pick up with our QOTD's! Hopefully we can help you (and you can help us!) stay on track with goals and lifestyle changes - you are definitely among friends here!
NOT AT ALL HEALTHY.... but I am a firm believer that the best breakfast is cold pizza. I am not a big pizza eater whatsoever, but cold pizza for breakfast... And now we all know why I have weight issues. I think about cake on the treadmill and one of my favorite breakfasts is cold pizza.
This is me, more often than not. I feel like I'm forcing myself to eat when i first wake up, which seems counterproductive - eating when you aren't hungry. I also get really sick to my stomach if I eat TOO soon after waking up, especially if I have dairy. I usually have to give it at least 45 minutes to an hour before my stomach can handle anything. I never thought it could have something to do with the previous night's dinner, so that's really interesting insight - thank you for that!
OK, I have a feeling I'm going to end up watching this show for a while longer (if not all season, LOL) out of curiosity (and mild outrage ) so I'm so glad to have someone to discuss it with!
TOTALLY AGREE about the 2 hours of sleep - he said we works anywhere from 80-115 hours a week and my jaw dropped. I realize people have to do that for various reasons and I'm blessed to have never found myself in that situation, but oh my goodness. I can only imagine the EXHAUSTION. I felt like I was "working" that much with wedding planning and a 40-hour job and it did such a number on me, and I was really only living like that for a few months. The minute I started focusing on getting more sleep, everything turned around, and several pounds melted off.
I, too, wondered how much information they had before picking their first diets. I felt so bad for the girl who had the vegan diet, and I was happy that she decided to switch. I feel like if she'd been fully informed up front she may never have picked that route. These methods just seem so strange. Everyone is doing a piece of a good "diet", I feel - and by "diet" I mean way of eating and exercising, NOT quick fix plan - and if they would COMBINE several of the methods, they would do so much better.
BUT THE TRAINERS. I told DH so many times that I would've had to hit my trainer - no matter which one I had. HAHA. The one who slept in a tent in the front yard... His 100% perky in your face all the time grin... Oh, goodness. COMPLETELY AGREE about the taskercizing. What are you doing besides multitasking? I do draw the line at exercising during prayer time. That seemed completely ridiculous. Plus that trainer irritated me to no end.
I, too, would've gone with the "wild" diet. It seemed like a combination of Atkins & Paleo, and if you're eliminating processed carbs and replacing it with lean protein and fiber, then it just seems obvious to me that you would do better than a "psychological diet" or juicing for a week.
OK, I am totally trying your water trick today to see if my number is lower tomorrow! Haha. I know water has a big effect on me, but I don't think I've paid attention to how it affects the scale.
GREAT JOB WITH YOUR 25%!!! WOOOOOHOOOOO!!!! That's fantastic!!

Hey, everyone! Just touching base before I start working on some designs today. I've got some Mickey & Minnie Valentine's designs I'm going to put up, I think. I'm also checking out some documentaries on Netflix that I found via some "If you liked Making a Murderer..." articles. Haha. I couldn't get into Making a Murderer - tried twice but it just moved so slow! - but these sounded really interesting. One is about the West Memphis 3 which literally hits close to home for me.
I DID WATCH "FED UP" and seriously, if you have Netflix, go watch it. If you don't, I'll share my info with you - that's how strongly I feel about people needing to see it. Someone also recommended another one to me that I'll have to check out... Fork Over Knife, maybe? I don't remember the exact title and need to go back and check. I'd love to discuss Fed Up with those of you who have seen it!! My shopping is definitely going to be changing.
I'll be around today and look forward to chatting with anyone who has a chance!
I tried it. I even signed up as distributor, thinking if it was as good as they say it is, I could make some side money.
The Facebook groups I got added to were a MAJOR turn off for me. Little to no discussion about any actually experiencing any positive results, lots of discussion about the best way to pose in "progress" photos to make you look smaller, tips on how to look better (don't wear makeup or do your hair in the before photo, take an after right after you've done your hair and makeup) to sell more product, and the "right things to say" to sell more product. They also really push you to not tell anyone that you'll benefit from it physically. They want buyers to make that assumption themselves 1) for the placebo effect and 2) so they don't get in trouble for making medical claims. You're supposed to word your pitches as "this person has been taking Plexus for 3 months. She has lost 30lbs in 3 months." - it makes you think Plexus caused her to lose that weight, but when it comes down to it in black and white, it's just coincidence.
I never saw any results myself, and as such, I refused to push it to people, much to the dismay of the person I bought it from, whose commission I was hurting because I wasn't "leveling up" sales-wise.
Don't waste your time or your money. Seriously. There are so many other ways you can lose without the gimmicks. It's just a waste of money, there's nothing backing up its claims, and there's very little info about what's in the products. The "pink drink" is basically Crystal Light with some of those "magic weight loss miracles" like green tea added in - it doesn't cure PCOS, it doesn't make you magically less hungry, it doesn't make you kick the sugar habit. The probiotic is no different than what you can get at the grocery store.
I've got a friend who sells it and she says she's been taking it for years but there's been absolutely no change in her, weight or otherwise. She also doesn't have any success stories from anyone she knows or has sold the products to.
Trying to follow what I quoted this for is difficult but I know a couple things popped out. One was the cold pizza. I love cold pizza for breakfast. My friends son makes fun of me because I rarely if ever heat it up.
I have a friend trying to talk me into looking into Herbalife. She was a high school friend I kinda went through and a bunch of us added each other on Facebook. I didn't really know her well but anyway her gym where they also do distributing and business side stuff is really high energy and cool. $5 a workout includes a pre workout shake. Its just a 30+ minute drive for me. She keeps wanting me to join up but I did a business similar that had both health and everyday items. It had a min purchase set in and I just couldn't keep that up. Never worked hard on the business side.
From 1998-2001, Disney/MGM Studios and Disneyland both ran daily parades honoring Mulan.
From AllEars.net - "The parade begins with that pipsqueak of a dragon Mushu, who leads the way in a rickshaw that circles and cavorts down the street. He is followed by a larger-than-life matchmakerand a corps of future brides. Two tall pagodas and the moongate where Mulan and her father sit to exchange thoughts about the future finish out this opening sequence that pays tribute to Mulan's hometown.
Triumphant warriors returning from battle follow, hoisting the captured and shackled Shan Yu on their shoulders. Mushu has transformed into giant dragon with a battalion of soldiers re-enacting the battle against the Mongolian horde on the 150-foot long Great Wall. A victory celebration follows, with joyous street performers, including stiltwalkers, kung-fu performers and a fleet-footed Chinese lion weave back and forth across the route. The grand procession concludes with the heroes of the story: the handsome Shang, beautiful Mulan herself and her proud father ride atop an elaborately decorated, horse-drawn carriage as they receive their heroes' welcome. The Emperor overlooks the end of the parade, watching the brave souls who have brought honor to their people."
I definitely miss the parades of the 90's. Did you ever see the Mulan parade at either of these locations? What is/are your favorite daytime or nighttime Disney parade(s)?
The one and only time I recall doing "MGM" was in 98. I did see parts of the parade. We were taking that time to escape over to Tower of Terror or something. I don't remember. We were weaving around people and watching a bit as we walked. It was Christmas day and busy but not too bad. We aren't usually big parade people. I don't like crowds and my daughter doesn't either so when we make it again I doubt we'd watch too many shows/parades aside from fireworks. I know next WDW trip I want to take her to Animal Kingdom(she's only seen Magic Kingdom twice) and The Lion King show is definitely my fav and usually only show I watch.
lol Phoenix will do that too. 70s one day and lows in 30s and highs in 40s overnight its crazy. This morning was windy with cold/brisk breeze but decent "temp" now at 63 it says. I haven't been back out since 8:45.
Yeah I never liked crowds but its even worse now that I have GAD(general anxiety disorder) and my daughter seems to show signs of it too. It runs in the family for us.
I rage ran to my best 5k time tonight, and my fastest mile. Rage not from the day but more or less I was mad at how slow my last mile was. I managed to cut off 1:06 from my average pace after the first mile. Still a bigger elevation gain to. I guess I haven't been pushing myself enough...
Actually looking now it was my fastest run outside and the coldest.
I ate horrible today though because I'm PMSing like crazy. Give me chocolate and salt. This run was 100% brought to you by sugar, GU, and caffeine.
rage ran. Great job on fastest mile and all that. One day I'll return to running. Last time I did it I was barely over 200. Just would be hard at 100 lbs more than that. I'll eventually work up intervals until I can run again but I don't want to injure myself pushing into running/jogging too soon. I loved running when I was finishing up high school and early 20s. I remember the first time I ran 10 minutes straight. So rewarding to see the pay off, I couldn't do anything like that right now but I know its possible.
I braved up this morning and did it! I stepped on the dreaded scale. Got that hurdle over with. I lost 4 lbs! Weighing in at 150.7. 30.7 lbs to go. I didn't give a Jan goal, but it was 5 lbs. Hoping to reach that by next week. I have a manicure reward to claim!
Blah, Disboards ate my post. I hate when it does that. I'll be back soonly to catch up and chat but I wanted to get the QOTD up ASAP for you guys! Happy Tuesday, btw!
I think this is the part of Mulan that I relate to most in my work-outs, haha. It's not until I actually start exercising that I realize just how much I need to exercise, because I am obviously and woefully out of shape. Is anyone else like this?
Are there any particular exercises or work-outs that give you trouble? What do you do when you encounter ones that do? Do you have substitute exercises that you replace them with? Do you/will you make it a goal to keep trying them in order make those exercises easier? Curious to hear your tips and tricks!
Yes out of shape and exercise time it's painfully obvious. 2 hours of goofing around dancing on Wii had me aching. Especially in arms. My legs are strong from carrying my heavy weight around so they were able to continue but arms died. lol Exercises that give me trouble ironically are squats because of knees. My legs are fairly strong in some spots and horribly untrained/worked in others. Uneven. Running is a trouble one because of my poor endurance of little to no exercise and very poor fitness level. Its my goal to build endurance.
Not sure I have tips or tricks. I don't mind working out and exercising it just seems I don't have energy. Anemia doesn't help in that regards but I do know and have read continuously that to get energy you have to use energy. hmm
I used to be a runner and it was both a chore and a rush.
I've suffered from plantar fasciitis a couple of times over the years and last month it decided to flare up for the first time in a few years. So frustrating. My main goal right now is to balance exercise with getting my feet and calves stronger and better so I can start running again. So right now I'm walking. It's boring. At least an hour at a slow-ish pace but I want to get 2-3 miles in daily with a day or so of 5 miles. Tedious!!! I'm looking at this being my exercise for at least the month of Jan, and possibly Feb too. I hate it. But it's working, so I can't complain.
I hate push ups. I hate them so much. I think part of it is leftover embarrassment from school days when all these kids could do push up after push up and I could do 1 and then just sit there and watch all the people around me keep going. I try to do them now but I still can't. So I just don't do it. I do other exercises to try and build up those muscle groups.
I also wasn't a huge fan of running for the longest time. Again, I think that school really ruined me on running because I was the fat kid that all the skinny kids watched after they finished their miles in 7 minutes and I was still chugging and sweating and panting. Since then I've basically been convinced that I'll never be a runner. Then I found Disney races and decided that if there was one thing that could make me love running, it would be Disney!! So I have a goal to run in Disney races. And the bling, regardless of it's Disney bling, is just too addicting. So now I'm a runner! I love the sense of accomplishment in running long distances, signing up for races, and losing weight.
I have trouble with arm strength and push ups because I'm both weakened and obese so my body weights makes them extra hard. Even on my knees I can do 1-2 at most. But give me a week of trying it several times a week and I know I can build up to 7-10 in a row. I did before even at 305 lbs or so in 2010 when I was doing 30 Day Shred. In the first workout I pushed out 2-3 but not in a row. By the next week I could do 7 quick and in a row. I know wall push ups help me build up as does just getting in plank and lower as slow as possible. Use any method to get back up and do it again. That eccentric part builds up quicker.
I think this is the part of Mulan that I relate to most in my work-outs, haha. It's not until I actually start exercising that I realize just how much I need to exercise, because I am obviously and woefully out of shape. Is anyone else like this?

I love that part of the song because this is soooo me! I think it started for me in school as another poster mention. I wasn't terribly out of shape then, but I wasn't fast by any stretch of the imagination. I vividly remember in elementary school, the coach would hand out popsicle sticks for each lap and it was supposed to be fun to see who could collect the most.... I quickly learned that rather than popsicle stick glory, I would much rather walk the track and gossip with my girl friends.... Anyway, ever since I have hate hate hated all sorts of exercising. This month is my first real attempt at starting regular exercise. When I want to quit, I will take a minute break or so and that's usually enough to get my head back to where I need to be to finish what I started. Plus my magnet/calendar reward system is working. I have them all set up on the board and my neat freak self wants to put them all in the right place on the calendar so that's a mind game that's helping me push through. I'm sure I will have a much more exhaustive list once I move on from my little elliptical work and onto squats.... yuck!
So, I am ready to start the weight loss year! I am back from a great time at Disneyland Paris, Paris and a German theme park called Europa Park. We had a fantastic time, walked on average more than 20.000 steps a day, ate a ton of great food.
The new itineraries have not been released yet. I think it was @5xdisneyfans personal booking window for excursions and online check-in that opened, as that opens in the middle of the night. The new cruise itinerary booking usually starts in the mornings. I am hanging out on the cruise board quite a bit and will try to remember to alert you when new itineraries are going to be released! The Panama Canal is fantastic, we did it in 2014 and absolutely loved the cruise! Nothing better than two weeks on the ship!
back and thank you for offering to let me know when the PC dates will be open. Which way did you cruise? Do you think it matters?
QOTD - I do have to modify a lot now, low back problems, steroid induced myopathy, muscle damage from growth hormone deficiency etc....I'm just not as strong as most my age. Also the extra 20 lbs makes it harder! I have keep reminding myself that, how much easier tasks will be with 20 lbs off! Anyhow, I hate with a passion burpees and mountain climbers

So I run, that's my thing I'm pretty sure people know it. I love to push myself and see what I can do. I love everything, from the sound of my shoes on the pavement at night, to dodging cars during the day.
That said I am not a coordinated person. I tried T20 and nearly fell so many times. I can't do classes for this reason. I played tennis a lot in high school, and I was good with that, but synced movements just nope. I just can't coordinate. I also don't want to throw myself around so burpees are a nope. I'll do some weights and run. That's my thing I'll stick to it. I don't want to fall on my butt circuit training.
rage ran. Great job on fastest mile and all that. One day I'll return to running. Last time I did it I was barely over 200. Just would be hard at 100 lbs more than that. I got out of work early a few days this week and I didn't eat much then napped, then got up and ate then went back to bed. So tomorrow needs to break that cycle.
It also snowed. I really need to start accepting that I'm going to be running inside more now. It's not cold enough for the snow to really melt to the side of the streets where I need it to in order to be safe training. All I can think of is the shin splints I'm going to get at my race in Feb if yesterday was my last outdoor run. It's going to hurt.
I just hope this winter stays okay. I can't deal with being the snowiest city in the US again.
Oh, boy, can I relate to this! My son is an adult now, but struggled mightily in school with social skills ( Asperger dx). I did a lot of stress eating at times. Then, I replaced the stress eating with a cup of herbal tea - really helped. Exercise is a great stress relief, but wasn't always feasible at the time I was most stressed.
Welcome back, Flossbolna! Love that quote/image of comfort zone/ where the magic happens!
Going to catch up with the past few QOTD:
1/11 Favorite Bowie song - I liked several of his songs : Space Oddity, Dancing in the Streets, Pressure. Let's Dance always reminds my of my first exercise class back in the 80s; we would warm up with this song.
1/12 I'm not a fan of ab exercises, esp crunches. No tricks - just Nike's " Just do it" mantra for me! I also go to the gym with my hubby. Having an exercise buddy keeps me going.
I think this is the part of Mulan that I relate to most in my work-outs, haha. It's not until I actually start exercising that I realize just how much I need to exercise, because I am obviously and woefully out of shape. Is anyone else like this?

Recently someone told me you have to view exercising like brushing your teeth. You just have to do it everyday. I think it is fair to say a majority of people wouldn't think of not brushing their teeth for days (eww) so why would you think any different when it comes to exercise. She did have a point, why are we taking such great care of our teeth but neglecting the rest of our body.
I find that if I have some great music pumping, I helps motivate me through the exercise/work outs that I just don't like. If I am able, I try to do the exercises that I dislike the most first (I'm talking about you burpees), to get them out of the way.

It's not fair, because there is so much more to him than that stupid evaluation. At least during the meeting the teachers talked abut his progress. He used to not have eye contact, nor could he hold a pencil. This year he is greeting people with eye contact and writing some letters and numbers independantly!
Just keep remembering that an evaluation is a representation of his skills at one point in time and not an evaluation of him as person as you rightly say there is so much more to him. Still hard to hear though. I am happy that your other son has done well, remember to celebrate his milestones as well. As for your other sons achievements - eye contact is a huge goal for him to be meeting and holding his pencil too - he is on his own little journey and the successes will be all the more sweeter when he achieves them.
But I do understand anxiety eating ... unfortunately ... gone are the days when it had the opposite affect on me and made me want to eat less!! lol
This is me too - I have twins and an older boy. Anything with bounce in it really - jumping on a trampoline, running, skipping. I have to make sure to have a potty trip first and then it can still be a problem at times. Gotta be honest the not running part doesn't worry me I have never been a big fan of running and then when I tried bootcamp a few years ago with a friend and I was persevering with running I felt a pop and pain in the back of my calf and tore the fascia of my Gastrocnemius muscle! Ouch and only a couple of weeks before going on holiday. So also hate bootcamp style exercising.
I can't believe it is already Wednesday! I had a good eating and exercise day. No run, but lots of walking (over 20.000 steps again). However, no effect on the scale just yet. But I know that there are no overnight miracles! Unfortunately I seem to start to develop a cold!! I hope my body will battle it before it takes effect. I am fully motivated to make the best out of January and I know that being sick always causes me to gain weight as I am a comfort eater...

Here we go again!!
It's time for another WOOHOO Wednesday!!!
CONGRATULATIONS - you are now halfway through the week, and almost halfway through the MONTH. January is just FLYING by! I'm so proud of everyone for making it this far. I have seen some amazing progress - both numerically and with NSV's - and I'm really just so excited for all of us. Remember, if you're feeling discouraged, or down, or just kind of "blah", DON'T GIVE UP. That feeling is temporary but the changes you are making can be permanent if you just stick with it, even through the rough patches.
What's got you WOOHOOING today?!
Anyone playing Powerball tonight? ;-) We've got our tickets ready - DH's office is doing a pool. Fingers crossed a Dis friend gets it - how cool would that be!?
I just realized I never got the results posted. Ugh. So sorry! That WILL be happening today!!
my whoo hoo is that it snowed last night we got about 7 inches and I came to work today.. LOL sometimes I just cant get in passenger seat and come in (takes about 35 mins on a good day) today I got up tried not to stress about, when my hubs pulled out of the drive I pulled out my phone -now I sometimes get motion sick so it was a crap shoot- but I added a DD card to my app, then I surfed around FB for quite a bit then I sent some text messages then we were almost at work and no motion sickness .. there was really only one town that didn't do too good of a job plowing.. and drinking 3 -4 of these full of water per day at my desk doesn't seem so bad.. my Disney on Ice splurge ($12 lemonade!) be back at lunchtime to see what everyone else is whoo hooing about..
Woohoo #1 - I negative split my run last night for the VERY FIRST TIME. It was an indoor run, 3 mi total. The first mile was 13:03, mile 2 was 12:43 and mile 3 was 12:13. That run ended on a true runner's high and I didn't feel like I was worn out by the end.
Woohoo #2 - This morning I put on a dress that I bought to wear at the beginning of 2015 for an annual work dinner. I was heavier and definitely filled out the dress in a not-so-good way. Looking at those pictures of myself was the first time that I truly saw the fat lady that I had allowed myself to become. Today, the dress is loose! Like really loose! and I don't feel like I'm bursting out of it. I just slapped a belt on and felt amazing.
What's got you WOOHOOING today?!

I am Woohoo-ing that my birthday is tomorrow and there will be delicious cake! I know that's so counter intuitive to this group haha! But I LOVE the bakery it's coming from -- simply divine!
We have a pretty big pool at work-- I'm surprised at how many people and how much they put in. I'd like to believe that we have better odds, but mainly we're all having fun with our 2 dollar dreams this week LOL!
Well..... another day of testing proctoring. I'm not really supposed to be on the computer during the testing (but I can read a bit), so I won't take the time to do any replies for now.... maybe during lunch? Otherwise I'll pop on with some replies and to answer the QOTD after work!.....P
I'm with you, another city is totally welcome to that title I can't run on the treadmill. Physical Therapists orders. But, the city has done its usual craptastic job of plowing, sanding and salting. So, for my 4 miles today I will be driving to another town and running there. Thats my fallback each year, if it snows the night before a run day, after I drop to my kids off I do a quick drive on my at home running route, and if it seems unsafe I drive elsewhere to do my run. Adds about 12 minutes total to the process, but better than falling. I've got YakTrax, but I live right on the city border, and about a .25 mile from my house it is (of course) clear down to the pavement, so those wouldn't work there.

I am woohooing that I made it out of Target for under $100 I know it sounds crazy, but even if I go in there for 3 things I always end up with a huge cart full of stuff and a large bill. Today I had a big list, but made it out without tons of superfluous purchases.
We will be purchasing a powerball ticket No office pools for us. My husbands work is full of math brainiac types who say its useless. I think last nights revelation was you're more likely to get struck by lightning while also being attacked by a shark.
