There is sooo many of us its crazy. I never realized. Here's to MA folk bettering themselves

Today's been a crazy day in Southern California - we were awoken at 645am with a small earthquake and it's still pouring rain for the third day in a row.

Husband and I are heading to our condo's gym facility tonight to try it out, as it looks like we won't be able to go outside like we had planned. If we don't like it, it looks like we'll be joining a local gym so we can get all of our exercise in. El Nino rains are not fun :(

I used to rely on the gym and never wanted to run outside. So I was there in the safty net but would go at weird hours to avoid people. I don't think I'm going to be able to even at 9 PM. If I go and I can't get on a treadmill I'll just leave full of rage. I got mad because by the time I left for work it was beautiful out.

I might do one of those against my better judgement things and go in the dark anyway and just be super careful. My pants are reflective and so is my top. I'll be slower than normally but I want to get my 45 in. Most of the ice has melted and people should be at home so traffic shouldn't be to horrific. I just wanted to do some weight training. I don't mind people who are committed to getting healthy at all. But the rest of the year mine is full of of young guys that walk around pick up a weight and hold it then do nothing.

Yep, that's pretty much how I felt too. Like if I spend all that time going to the gym, changing, and getting in "the zone" to work out and then there's nothing available I'm not going to be a happy camper. good luck outside! I went to the gym and it was slightly better tonight.

Hello all!

I'm very inspired by all your posts and everyone motivation to become healthier. I would like to join the challenge but in a different way. I am a Registered Dietitian and would love to be here as a group expert answering anyone's nutrition questions.

I think in our day and age we are SURROUNDED by all sorts of weight loss information and its hard to weed through what is scientifically proven and what is just a fad.

I am very interested in not only helping you eat healthier during you day to day life but preparing and eating healthy while in the parks too! When I was at WDW in November I managed to throughly enjoy myself and come out feeling healthy!

So please feel free to ask my any questions and I will give you my honest and expert opinion!

Hopefully this will help some of you better reach you goals!

-Nichole :)

NicoleC I am curious what you think is the healthiest snack/meal at Disney. No saying fruit LOL that's too easy. I liked the tossed salad I would get at All Star resorts. I'd have them throw a lil bit of everything in there and then have steak on top with vinaigrette on the side. It was always a nice refreshing yet savory treat to the end of the day. Or I would get a kids meal each for both the lil princess and me.

QOTD for Wednesday, January 5, 2016!

IT'S HERE!!! It's our VERY FIRST WOOHOO WEDNESDAY OF 2016!!!!!!!

For our newbies who may not know, we do a fun little thing here called WOOHOO WEDNESDAY! This is your chance (not that you have to wait for Wednesday's, though) to tell us something AWESOME that has happened in your life! It can be ANYTHING, big or small. Seriously. Your woohoo can be that you got up and made your bed before work this morning, or you got a raise, or your hair looks AMAAAZINGGGG today, or you made it to work on time, or your pants fit a little more loosely, or ANYTHING!!

So what's making you WOOHOO today!?

My woohoo is that I can see my collarbones!

So after an aweful day I made my own woohoo.

I went out and ran. It was after a horrible day at work where I was on my feet all day and I was so tired. Not to mention it was a whopping 28 degrees out (ten warmer than this morning though!) I've never ran outside at night, but I got out and did it. I was slow as heck(I wish I could swear here haha), but I had my lapping everyone on the couch mentality and I was ready to go. The fact that I could hear my upstairs neighbor yelling at his girlfriend was a good motivator to get out too. He loves to tell her to leave and she never does. He also has no idea what she wants from him and other countless gems.

Basically if life was a video game I leveled up. Woohoo to that!

eta: I also had to sit through two coworkers talking about going to Disney and doing the marathon today. Jealous doesn't even begin to describe my feelings. I have to wait four more months :(

Thanks to those who offered their thoughts and prayers for my dad. He has worsened and is being transferred, hopefully today, to a larger academic medical center from the hospital he is in now. Hopefully the team there can deal better with all his complexities.s

So sorry to hear of his worsening; praying the medical center can restore his health.

MBA Program Final grades are in: A in Global Business and A in Capstone, for a 4.0 gpa this semester. My final GPA is 3.75 over all... so we'll see if I get honors at graduation.

Congratulations! Fantastic!

No woohoos here - just happy to be back on track after a 2 week holiday hiatus!

Flyv - WTG making yourself a woohoo !

Courtney - that is superb! Excellent !

Ok I finally got real and stepped on the scale,I weigh exactly what I did last year in Jan ....I had lost some weight last year and I've gained it all back :(. It took me until Apr last year to lose about 8 lbs, I sure hope the HIIT workouts will help me melt it faster this year! My woo hoo is that I took measurements and I have lost a few inches!

Today I'm taking my daughter for her infusion in Columbus so that means her pick for lunch out ....she picked a great place as far as they use local organic, but I know the calories will be high

Have a great day everyone! Make it count and pixie dust for WI tomorrow !

We've all heard that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and it's true! It gets your metabolism going, and sets you up for success for the rest of the day. But it's also the most often skipped meal, mainly due to time constraints.

Do you say breakfast every day, or are you more likely to skip it? What are your favorite/go-to breakfast foods? If you usually skip, are you going to make more of an effort to work breakfast into your routine?

Thank you for your kind offer of help and advise. Could you tell us a bit more about your weight loss journey? Goals? Hope on over to page one and check out the "wheres and whats" of our challenge and then feel free to tell us a bit more about you!

I am BEYOND impressed and PROUD of you! You pushed through when it was tough! You definitely lapped me!

We ended up joining 24 Hour Fitness - yeah! :D

Still have to talk with hubs about our gym schedule but I'm looking forward to all the classes and running on a treadmill.

Hope it offers everything you want and need!!

Glad to hear that you had some inches lost, even if the scale didn't give the news you wanted!

Morning all! Home again today but hoping to be more productive! I was busy with WW work yesterday, but it was a lot of sitting and reading and being frustrated with technology. Didn't feel like I accomplished much. It is only 19° out there right now, but it due to get up to 40° so I'm planning a mid-afternoon walk outside. Hopefully I can convince DD to go with me. She got thin blood from spending a semester in Bermuda and now my New England girl can't stand the cold!

Off to waste some coffee time on Pinterest before I move along today!.................P

I wake up hungry most days so breakfast happens EVERY DAY! Occasionally on the weekends it ends up being brunch if I am waiting to eat as a family.

I have three "standard" breakfasts that I have the vast majority of the time...........eggs (in many forms), greek yogurt with berries, and oatmeal (old-fashioned or steel cut).

My eggs are often scrambled whites with some light cheese and veggies..... I use leftover dinner veggies, fresh greens, onions, broccoli slaw mix..... whatever I have on hand! If I am dashing out the door to work I will often toss the eggs into a low carb wrap or pita and eat it as a sandwich. If I am eating at home I often do my "change it up breakfast bowl".

WISH Away the Pounds--Healthy Recipe Thread (new title)

Greek yogurt..... plain non-fat that I sweeten with liquid stevia and then add cinnamon, vanilla (sometimes lemon extract for a change of pace), a bit of Benefiber if I am feeling the need, and fruit.... usually a frozen organic berry blend that we get at Costco, but sometimes a berry/mango blend from the grocery store. Sometimes I top it with a sprinkling of All Bran or a tablespoon of hemp seed. Gives it some crunch, and in the case of the hemp, some extra protein. During the warmer months I often bring this for lunch at school as well.

Oatmeal..... steel cut I usually do in my small crockpot overnight..... it comes out nice and creamy! Old-fashioned oats I cook using a recipe I got from Hungry Girl and it is delicious! A bit more time consuming so I usually save it for weekends and non-work days. http://www.hungry-girl.com/recipes/apple-growing-oatmeal I used to toss in some raisins as well, but raisins took a big jump with the new SmartPoints system, so I will no longer be buying them.

Sometimes a smoothie..... usually made with unsweetened almond milk, greens (love the PowerGreens mix from Earthbound Organics), and a bit of fruit (berries, banana, mango) and even some cucumber and/or avocado...... plus pea protein or hemp protein. Sometimes I just try something new..... over the Christmas season I had grits with butternut squash a few times. It was really yummy. And if I am running really late sometimes it is a banana, WW cheese stick, and a 100 calorie pack of almonds.

And of course, always coffee or tea!! .......................P

I am so not a breakfast person. The only time I enjoy breakfast is when I go out for breakfast which is only on vacation so like twice a year :) I do make myself have something. I have banana oatmeal muffins in the freezer for a quick backup to grab if I don't feel/have time for anything else. I do like steel cut oats but they take so long to cook and I have to have some brown sugar in it which makes it not so low calorie since oatmeal has enough on it's own.

I tend to skip breakfast during the week. I get up with just enough time to get daughter dressed for school and hopefully have a cup of coffee. By the time I get around to eating first meal it is generally almost lunch time. If I do have breakfast I usually want protein of some sort. I am backwards LOL I like hot cereals at night. Malt of Meal is my favorite. They don't sell it in my area so my brother sent me a bunch of boxes for my birthday last month LOL

Thanks to those who offered their thoughts and prayers for my dad. He has worsened and is being transferred, hopefully today, to a larger academic medical center from the hospital he is in now. Hopefully the team there can deal better with all his complexities. I have decided to take all this as an incentive to really put my health first. I had said all of December, I was sort of trying to get through the holidays before I really committed to some changes. My immediate and extended family history (especially dads side) is not great, so I want to combat that with a healthy lifestyle. If I can get through this stressful period by using exercise as my stress reliever, and focus on eating healthy, then the rest of the time when things calm down (and I have faith they will) it should be a breeze!

I hope that they can help him! Continue to update us as you feel comfortable. Continuing prayers.
