Wretched wretched day. Bad eating, bad studying, bad commute to work and worse commute home. About to crash in hopes that a good night's sleep will set me up for a better Friday.
Always, always, always breakfast. I don't function without it. Before going back to work, I was experimenting with eating a significantly bigger breakfast than usual and finding that I was much less hungry the rest of the day. I've been trying to keep it up this week but my schedule is not so forgiving. And I like sleep as much as I like breakfast.
Morning is the one time of day I'm really iffy on sweets. I much prefer savory. Eggs are my most frequent choice, generally fried in a bit of olive oil or scrambled. Bacon and toast are my preferred sides but I've been going with spinach and Canadian bacon lately. I also eat English muffins with extra sharp cheddar and Canadian bacon fairly frequently and go through stages where I drink a green smoothie every morning. Occasionally a peanut butter and banana sandwich or berries and Greek yogurt. And of course a slice of cold pizza always makes me happy.
Re oatmeal - my brothers and I would all tell you that oatmeal and cream of wheat are really nothing more than vehicles for brown sugar and butter. I like both but am far more likely to eat them for lunch or dinner than I am for breakfast. I have found that cooking fruit in with the oatmeal (usually berries, apples, or pears) usually makes it sweet enough that I don't need to add sugar, butter, or anything else. If I need the fruity oatmeal to last me for a while, I will stir in s spoonful of peanut or sun butter before eating.

QOTD for Thursday, January 7, 2016
We've all heard that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and it's true! It gets your metabolism going, and sets you up for success for the rest of the day. But it's also the most often skipped meal, mainly due to time constraints.
Do you say breakfast every day, or are you more likely to skip it? What are your favorite/go-to breakfast foods? If you usually skip, are you going to make more of an effort to work breakfast into your routine?
