I now have 3 pairs of pants and 1 pair of shorts that went from slightly big at the waist to being able to pull down without unbuttoning (must remember to not put keys or cell phone in pockets and must tighten belt :p )

I tried on my old pants that are a size smaller and they almost fit. Still tight, but I no longer feel as though I am going to split them like the Hulk by putting them on

I weighed myself and somehow I GAINED 3 lbs! How is this possible? I do 1 mile of my WATP at least 5 days a week and I've stayed below my calorie quota.

I'm also a little frustrated that I'm still getting my butt kicked by mile 1 of the 3mile WATP tape. Those knee lifts hurt. Granted I am severly out of shape , but it's still frustrating.

I've started the SBD this evening and I'm trying to think positively. and trying not to be crabby because I miss sweets.

Jennz, haven't you heard about the bloat fairy? That stinker is always slinking around and leaving little gifts of extra fluid.

Please don't rely on the scale as a measure of your progress. If you are following the South Beach plan you need to measure yourself now. During the first week. Preferably the first day but it's too late for that :)

The reason I say this is because when you control and/or eliminate your refined carbohydrate intake you tend to lose as many or more inches as you do pounds. Our goal is to get smaller, right? Then measure yourself...you are already seeing a difference in the way your clothing is fitting. Measure yourself and keep track of the inches as they disappear. It's very motivating, it really is.

This past week I showed a gain of 5 pounds but I lost 2.25 inches. I might have been very frustrated if I hadn't been keeping track of my size by measuring regularly. Knowing that I am getting smaller regardless of what the scale is saying helps keep me from giving up.

You may be grumpy for a few days but you will feel better very soon. You will feel better than you have felt in a long time but first you have to go through withdrawal. A small price to pay, really, for better health :)

Congratulations!

You can do it.

God bless, best wishes, and encouragement, Ray Sharpton:)

Hang in there Jenn! Focus on that WOO-HOO big time! There's no room for "aw shucks" in your life! Don't listen to the scale, it's not a reliable tool to measure FAT LOSS! That gain could be fluid, and probably is!

I'm so happy for you! Congrats on the looser fitting pants. You will be wearing those smaller sized ones and feeling really comfortable in them within a week or two, I just know it! I have a friend who is on the SBD (she and her husband are doing it) and she has done a great job. I know she's lost 8.5 pounds already, I think in 2 weeks (maybe a little over 2 weeks). You can do it! And you can live without those sweets for a little while, trust me! It will be SO WORTH IT! So anytime you feel grumbly about what you CAN'T have just take your belt off and put heavy things in your pockets and say "Oh yeah, this is great, my pants are FALLING OFF MY BODY!"

Hey Jenz
Congratulations! Loose fitting clothes are the best. 3 pounds could be water, could be muscle from WATP. Whatever it is, keep wearing those loose pants and keep doing what your've been doing. It is obviously working!

Keep the Faith!
Tracy

Congratulations, Jenz! Way to go and keep up the great work!! Loose fitting clothing is always a great sign!! :):)
