A Wigdout trip report, DISmeets, Flashing Jelly Rings and Manpris, Oh MY!

Can you see where we hid the box with the squirrels? :confused3

I'd be happy with that kitchen.
Very, very happy.

I"m forever being invited to look in someones mouth at a loose tooth.....

Me, too. I tell them I don't do teeth!
I can take blood, guts, and broken bones just fine, but dangling teeth gross me out. I have them put loose teeth in a ziplock bag and take them home for their parents to appreciate.

I am thinking in second grade I may need more ziplock bags than I did in third grade. :)

One other thing I don't do...head lice! :scared1:
I can write a clinic note way fast when there are head lice involved.

I'm glad your squirrels made it to the rescue in good health. What a cool experience you had! I'm sure you'll be glad to be off feeding duty and have your weekend free.

Okay that is number 1 reason why I teach high schoolers...I cannot handle the losing of teeth...ewww...LOL!!!!
I just send them off to the nurse.....
That one is DGS's favorite episode! I think I've seen them all about 100 times!:rotfl2:
I guess I need to take a few minutes and take a look.....I can't keep up with
Shocker.....

The only reason I saw them on my last trip is because Dawn had them in her report so I was looking for them. There are so many little details, it's hard to see them all!
The DIS such a great resource!

:rotfl2:That's too funny! They're probably afraid "those" parents won't come if they think it will take longer than the McD's drive thru!
The parents we need to see never seem to show up....

That has to be the stupidest thing I've ever heard! (Yes, I did go to school - I know "stupidest" can't possibly be a word, but it seemed appropriate here!)
Personally I love making up words with purpose!

Loved the squirrels BTW - good job saving them!
Thanks, it was really kind of neat having them around, but it was time for them to go....

I
'd be happy with that kitchen.
Very, very happy.
I love that kitchen, wish it were really mine....

I'm not good with any of that stuff, it all goes to the nurse! I love the little plastic treasure boxes they get to store those lost teeth in though.:cutie:

That was a constant issue at my old school, and they could stay with nits. I had someone in the nurse for a head check every day to see if the eggs had hatched over night.....

MeMom, I see that you were up in the middle of the night, how are you doing?
I'm glad your squirrels made it to the rescue in good health. What a cool experience you had! I'm sure you'll be glad to be off feeding duty and have your weekend free.
I'm going to be up to my ears in grading this weekend.....

Grading... do your kids get letter grades in second- yikes! We give them in third and I have not graded much yet.

Ohhhh so clearly I missed this late night banter about watermelons, and toothless grins!!!! I fell asleep :rotfl: Anyway, VERY funny, and I am sorry I could not contribute, except that my DS7 just lost his front tooth, and guess where???!! Yup. School.

We read about losing teeth today in Stories that Julian Tells by Ann Cameron-- my kids have loved that book to death!

They have decided that same things for us this year, too - that they can stay unless there are live bugs. Crazy stuff!

I was up in the middle of the night for a while. If I get up in the middle of the night tonight, I'm going to try to put more pictures up. I've just been sleeping so much, but I got up a little before four today and have stayed awake. I'm hurting a little now, but I have a pill for pain, and I'm a little nauseous, but I have a pill for that, too. I didn't want to take anything while the girls were here, because I wanted to be fully awake. I'm going to take a pain pill and go to sleep and hope the upset stomach goes away on its own while I'm sleeping.

I think in another day I will feel significantly better. :thumbsup2

We have to send out progress reports next week, and we have done nothing but give them busy work while we have tested. We have done barely anything that is really grade level to grade them on! We give letter grades in second, but I think this is the first year to do that. I think first graders to the E,S,N thing.

As a parent of a second grader who will be attending a "Back to School Night" next week where his teacher will be (in I guess the old fashioned way) in her classroom...I have to let you know that I am not sure I will be able to sit there and keep a straight face with this particular banter running through my mind...:lmao: hmm...when I sit there trying not to giggle and when I try not to giggle its just harder...maybe she'll make some jokes...so I can laugh at appropriate times...but I'm sure she'll probably think to herself..."poor boy-it's amazing he's as normal as he is with her for his mother...:confused3

Shocker, I will be sure to have Greg suggest the carving and spitting contest into their social next week! With the way that administration thinks, they will probably go for it! :sad2:

At my son's school, when a kid loses a tooth at school, the nurse gives them a little plastic treasure chest to bring it home in. Patrick had his first loose tooth in the last couple weeks of the year and was desperate to have it fall out at school so he could have one of them! He must have had 2 fall out before the year ended because he has 3 of them (the 3rd came from the dentist when he had to go because he knocked one out on the playground). The most recent one to fall out was at a waterpark in the Dells this summer. I had to go into a gift shop and ask for an envelope so we wouldn't lose it. He has all of his teeth in the treasure chests waiting for all of them to fall out. His plan is to leave them all for the tooth fairy at once and get the big cash haul!

It's going around because Hannah has lost two teeth this week! She lost an upper front tooth on Tuesday and lost a bottom left tooth tonight. She's been considerate enough to have lost all her teeth at home and not school I'm sure her teacher appreciates it!

Does that mean no update this weekend ? :sad2:
Just got home from the football game and I'm going to try to get an update done tonight!
Grading... do your kids get letter grades in second- yikes! We give them in third and I have not g raded much yet.
Yes, we give letter grades E = exemplary, A = advanced, P = proficient, B= basic, and U = unsatisfactory. We have taught 3 weeks of reading and language arts so we have grades for each of those weeks. No benchmarks in math or science yet.

Did he bring it home in a little treasure box? Has he lost the other one? I love missing front teeth!:goodvibes

I'm going to look for that book! It sounds really cute.:)

Those eggs come from somewhere, they didn't just lay themselves..... Plus they are going to hatch!

I wonder if the pills are making you sick to your stomach?

I think in another day I will feel significantly better. :thumbsup2
Did Brooklynn bring her doctor bag? I'm sure she can give you a shot or something!

How on earth do you send out progress reports when you haven't had a chance to teach anything? Maybe just comment on behavior....

We had a huge crowd for both nights, meet the teacher and ice cream social. Two different nights and classrooms open on each. Our meet the teacher we stood up and spoke to the parents of 60 second graders. At ice cream social it was just an open house, with folks stopping in and children running wild.:scared1:
Now, as to your behavior during your open house, try to pretend you haven't read any of this!
Shocker, I will be sure to have Greg suggest the carving and spitting contest into their social next week! With the way that administration thinks, they will probably go for it! :sad2:
That would just be crazy! I'm not sure I would be surprised though...

I think you'd better start saving up for that tooth fairy visit!

Do they give out treasure boxes at her school? If not then there is no point to losing them at school....
Has she handed them over to the tooth fairy?

When I last left of I had been lolly gagging along taking pictures of an empty Magic Kingdom and had just barged into Crystal Palace.
Still snapping pictures!

and a boy still not too old to join the parade...

with a very large, very pink Piglet leading the way, do you think Baylor looks a little embarrassed? I fear this may be his last time to get up and join the fun!

Hugging an old donkey.

Pretty lights for LL and some stained glass too!

A funny old bear...

lastly a Piglet

With Dumbo on my mind, I really wanted to hit rope drop, it looked like this was going to be possible since the characters came on fast. We made our way to the buffet and filled our plates.

I hate to admit it but this is my plate, look at all of that sausage.:rotfl:

156.jpg

Baylor must have been stashing his bacon somewhere because he is only showing one piece...

154.jpg

Marc actually got some fruit!

153.jpg

We wasted no time snarfing our breakfast, I wanted to get over to the castle for rope drop, we had never ridden Dumbo and I wanted to have a flying picture like LL's. That's the bestest, happiest Dumbo picture I have ever seen.

We made it out into a still empty Magic Kingdom so I started snapping pictures again...

Up next, a nearly empty castle and a rope drop stampede...

Thanks for the update. I love this picture of the crystal palace ceiling. Oh ..... and I love the crystal palace..... especially breakfast. Now I will have visions of the breakfast pizza all day.

It's so nice to get in the park so early before opening. I hope you get that special picture on Dumbo!

I woke up super early this morning and was just uploading some old pics of my kids at the CP when they were Baylor's age. It's so fun to see the difference between now (total teenagers) and then (pre-teens but still little boys).
