A whole new World... UPDATED with Animal Kingdom Day

Just an aside: Manitoba weather is CRAZY!!!!!!!! :scared1: This Monday it is supposed to be 35 F, which is quite warm for January. But listen to this: yesterday it was minus 56 F!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! With the windchill but still!!!!!! :faint: Monday will really feel like :beach: to us... :crazy2:

Just wanted to share the crazies here. :)

Great updates!!! Lydia & Tobias look like their having a great time!!!

Minus 56?!?! That's crazy!!! I shouldn't complain about 10 degrees!!!!

Can't wait for more!!!

When we all got up again I took the kids to try to find Matthew's Boundless Playground. I actually had to go to the front desk to get a map. :rotfl: But we did find it eventually and the kids really enjoyed it. Tobias was of course just trying to escape through the front gate but Lydia had lots of fun. She met a family from NY and played with their kids, one girl and two boys. We also tried out the swings there and they were really cool. They are totally accessible and quite a neat concept. Tobias actually threw a huge fit when I finally had to take him out. :rolleyes1 I was so happily surprised that they even had volunteers in the playground and the sweet elederly couple helped me get the kids out of the swings (one of the swings got a bit stuck). Just another amazing GKTW thing. :goodvibes It was getting dark and so we went back towards our house. I'm pretty sure we went another few rounds on the carousel before supper.

After supper we went to the Ice Cream Palace (of course!). I took some pictures of the ice cream for anyone who's curious (like me ;) ).

This is my yummy strawberry milkshake!

That night they were doing the Candy Land party at the playground. We had just been there and so decided that we didn't want to go back. Lydia wouldn't really have been able to follow along with the game anyways. So we headed home (I loved thinking of our house as home :lovestruc ) for a bath and an earlier bedtime.

But first, yes you guessed it: the carousel!!! ;)

Disboardpics162.jpg

Disboardpics165.jpg

They made it so that Tobias could sit in the turtle on his own strapped into his stroller (as it is whellchair friendly).

Disboardpics163.jpg

He had this look on his face most of the time, and when the carousel stopped he's reach out his hand and go "Ah!Ah!Ah!", ordering it to go again.

Disboardpics164.jpg

I snapped these ones of all the beautiful Christmas lights they had up:

Back home, the kids enjoyed having a bath together and being all goofy. ;)

Since we didn't ahve their usual bath toys I let them play with some spoons and some of the toys we got in our gift bag.

Michael had to go and pick up his parents at the airport that night and bring them to their hotel. Lydia was so excited to see them the next day!

The kids went to bed really easy and all was blissful. :goodvibes

We were all dreaming about the next day: DISNEY WORLD!!!!! :woohoo: :yay:

Loving your update :thumbsup2

I think it is really wierd how different parks present themselves at different times.
Some of the Wish trippers write that US/IOA were very attentive and better than Disney as far as making a fuss of Wish Kids and others say they were rubbish. Maybe in your case it was *** of the cold, it numbed the attendants brains and mouths.

You did the right thing going back to GKTW.....we have our itinerary nearly completed but if it is cold or Becca isjust not 'with it', we too will head back 'home' and spend quality time there.

Looking forward to more TR:cheer2:

Mandy

Love the update!! :)

The kids are so cute in their bath! Playing with spoons! :rotfl2:

It sounds like you had a very relaxing day. Very smart!! :)

I don't know that I have seen much in Wish Trips about IOA. Sounds like it waas perfect for your family, though...perfect for your age children and interests! :)

Awesome job!!! :)

About the weather...I thought I was going to freeze this morning and it was like 20F. :rotfl2: But, 90F with 80% humidity does not seem hot to me, so I guess it is all about what you are used to. My dog does not like 20F either! :) She looked at me like I was crazy when I opened the door this morning. She went out and came back in FAST! :)

I wore a sweatshirt to work today. :rotfl2: Good thing it is Friday!

What a wonderful update! The kids look so cute in their outfits! I think the way you did the parks and GKTW sounds like the way we vacation. It makes it so much more enjoyable to relax and enjoy what is around instead of rushing!

Sorry the people weren't as nice at US IOA. I find that sometimes they are super duper talkative and others you kind of have to get them to talk. Maybe it was the cold!

Can't wait for more! The ice cream pictures are making me crave some ice cream!

Also on Wish Trippers:

We're having a bit of a heart scare with Lydia again... Oh how I HATE those. I've noticed in the last few weeks that she's seemed out of breath, and kind of sighing/grunting every now and then. I wasn't sure if it was anything important but today I watched one of the videos on my TR of her singing and then I asked her to sing that same song to me and she sounds so different, like she has to take breaks to breathe... I called our Pediatric Cardiology Nurse on call and she said that she was booking ehr for an appointment in March but wanted her to be seen locally before that so we're going on Monday. I know she still has pulmonary hypertension and her bicuspid valve, but she seemed fine last October at her check-up. Please pray that it is nothing! That she is just out of shape or has some strange long-lasting virus with no other symptoms. :guilty:

Oh Linda!! You must be so worried! Try not to worry to much! Lydia is such a tough little cookie, I'm sure she's fine!

Lots and lots of prayers and pixiedust: Keep us posted!

We weren't able to go see the doctor yesterday as we had an inch of ice on all the roads here. :scared1: But we did go today and it went well. He said he couldn't see any signs of anything urgent though he did say it was good that we were going for her check up in March. Of course he had to add the "I'm not a pediatric cardiologist" line that every health professional that talks about Lydia feels the need to say. Really? ;) Her blood pressures were normal so that is good. She is not cyanotic but she never was (pda and coarct are not cyanotic conditions). But at least I feel comforted that there's no immediate danger to her. :)

Thanks for your well-wishes and prayers. :)

Day 4: Animal Kingdom and Mickey!!!

We got up a bit earlier and got ready quite quickly while dh picke up the grandparents at their nearby hotel (it was literally down the street, 10 minutes or so). Lydia was so excited to see them!!! :yay: As we walked over towards the breakfast area, guess who we saw!! Goofy, Pluto and Mary Poppins!!! Lydia was ecstatic!!!! :cloud9:

Isn't she cute? :cutie:

Tobias was a bit more cautious. :rotfl:

DisneyWorld2008154.jpg

I can't remember if we had breakfast first or after but at some point we went to the theater building where we were going to have a photoshoot with Mickey and Minnie!!!!! As soon as we walked in Lydia started running towards the stage saying "hi Mickey!" :rotfl: We caught hold of her and explained that she had to wait her turn like everyone else. So we waited off to one side and when it was our turn it was so cute. We told her to go unto the stage but she a bit aprehensive. Mickey walked over and took her hand. She beamed and was brave enough to walk all by herself and meet Minnie that was waiting for her, all the while holding Mickey's hand. :sad1: :goodvibes It was so sweet and both me and Grandma got all teary eyed...

Lots of kisses! :rotfl:

After all that we were ready to head out. Grandma and Grandpa had forgotten their matching wish shirts at home!!! Can you believe it??? :scared1: Anywyas, I decided to forgive them. ;) At least the rest of us were all matching. Dh still wears his shirt. :goodvibes

We got into the van and drove off. And then we saw this beautiful sight:

:yay: :woohoo: :dance3:  :cheer2:

But the rest will have to wait until tomorrow as it's getting late. :)

Yeah!!!

I am so glad that she is doing fine!!!! :)

MARY POPPINS?!?!?! At GKTW!!! Wow! I didn't even know she ever went to GKTW? Wow...Nice umbrella! ;)

Precious, precious, precious!!!!!!!!!

I love that she ran up to meet Mickey! And I am so glad someone captured him taking her by the hand to Minnie.

And I LOVE your matching shirts in the pic! (Minus the grandparents! It is all good! Bless their hearts, they probably felt a little left out! :rotfl2:)

And then...the Disney World sign...ah....

:scared1: What...that's it!! NOoooooooooooooooo ! :)

Sleep is for mere mortals!! :) TR! TR! TR! TR! (Can you hear me chanting?!)

No mercy...I know...

Passing out the popcorn. :)

popcorn:: popcorn:: popcorn:: popcorn:: popcorn:: popcorn:: popcorn::

Seriously, thank you for another update! :) And thanks for the good news on Lydia! Made my day!!!!! :) A prayer answered. :) I love it when He does that!

Thank you for your kind words! :) I might be able to finish day 4 tonight, but we have Alpha so I might not.

We just ordered our tickets for Disney on Ice 100 Years of Magic!!!! :yay: :woohoo: :dance3: I'm soooo excited!!!! Half of our extended family is going too; grandma and grandpa, two aunties and Lydia's cousin. It will be just awesome, I think! I can't wait to get another dose of Disney magic. :goodvibes :wizard:

We went and saw Disney on Ice this Saturday and it was so great!!! Lydia was in awe of it all. :goodvibes I was so sure that she would be sad that we weren't able to actually greet the characters this time but she didn't seem to mind and thought they were all waving to her. :rotfl:

Lydia's outfit was thought out with care of course and consisted of some of her Wish trip pieces of clothing. Here she is posing before we left.

We left our house in the afternoon with Grandma and Grandpa and had arranged to have a babysitter for Tobias as he is just too wiggly. ;)
Me and Grandma squeezed in the back on either side of Lydia's car seat. Lydia was all smiles.

february2009015.jpg

We arrived at the big MTS centre and went inside while Grandpa parked the car. It was absolutely freezing in there!!! Poor Lydia was shivering. We decided to take her in to our seats while Michael waited for Lydia's auntie and her cousin Micah with her dad. As soon as we walked in and found out seats Lydia was mesmerized by all the people and how big the room was. She just had this blank look on her face with a half open mouth, staring around. Dh went and got us some popcorn and poutine (some of you might not know what this french delicassy is :rotfl2: but it could be described as a heart attatck on a plate: fries with melted cheese and gravy).

Here is a picture of Lydia's amazed look:

Then the lights dimmed and the show started!!! :woohoo: Lydia yelled: it's Mickey and Minnie!!! :goodvibes She commented on some of the characters but sat mostly in silent awe.

february2009028.jpg

Her cousin Micah was also enjoying the show, she would comment: I've seen that movie!

february2009029.jpg

I love how they have the castle at the end of the ice.

february2009033.jpg

Here she is clapping for something she found amazing. I think it was the dragon during the Mulan part.

february2009035.jpg

My favourite part of the show was the Lion King part (and it also reminded me so much of fotlk). :cloud9: I filmed a very short segment with my camera during that part.

We had such a great time and it felt so nice to feel some Disney magic again. :)
