A Whole New WDWorld: NEW 8/9, Crystal Palace!

John requested the Mansion side when we went on our honeymoon. We ended up getting a room in Alligator Bayou and really loved it. We were not far the food court or a bus stop either. I would like to stay in the mansion rooms once to say that I did, but I really did enjoy Alligator Bayou side.

Love the boat ride from Port Orleans to Downtown.

Please tell me you ate at Earl at some point in time!

So glad you had a good first day with Claire. :goodvibes

It was a good day indeed!

so glad you got an awsome location at POR :thumbsup2 and you just seemed so overjoyed to be there, makes me smile just reading it! we loved that boat ride to DTD when we stayed there in '05

yay for settling in and can't wait to hear all about day 1)...and the IASW DISmeet right?

Yep, the DIS meet was the next day!

I swear reading about your travels with Claire reminds me so much of traveling with my two when they were that age! Trust me when I say I was shuddering at the crawling on hotel carpet, too, but the good news is that it doesn't seem to harm them in the long run. LOL! Plus, the whole slamming the drawers on the dresser -- yep, I remember that, too! :goodvibes

Hurray for a great room location, a fun boat ride, a relaxing evening at DtD, and Claire dropping off easily. :thumbsup2

Those hotel carpets are just so disgusting. I wish they would put in tile or pergo or something instead of carpet! Oh well. Like you said, it's not going to harm her in the long run. It will just raise my blood pressure temporarily!

The fingers in the dresser drawers have been a problem here, too, in our temporary apartment. When we have our permanent apartment, you can bet there will be much child proofing!

What a great arrival day at Disney. After traveling you were able to settle in and relax. :goodvibes I can't wait to hear how your first day unfolds.

This was the first trip where I had relaxing down-time at Disney World. It was awesome to have some time like that.

Yay for the great location & relaxing evening at DTD!! :thumbsup2

:goodvibes

A boat ride and a relaxing evening at DTD is a great way to start your trip.

Yes, it was!

Claire is cute cute cute! So glad you had a safe trip, can't wait to read all about your first full day on Disney property!

Thanks! :goodvibes

I am such a creature of habit with things like this. Because I have enjoyed the mansion side, I have no desire to stay on the other side. But I am sure the other side would be just as good. I just get it into my head that we should keep it the same. :confused3

Haha! We did finally get there later in the week. And I LOVED IT!!!!

Taking along a little one not only impacts hugely on your touring plans but it makes you look at your hotel room from a new perspective too. Thankfully my two have both survived the crawling on hotel carpets, exploring under the sink, etc but I bet amongst all our Dis kids there are a few stories to tell! And one of the reasons why my little just-turned-two year old will most likely still be sleeping safely inside a pack-n-play in a few weeks time!

Joining in :)
I'm right there with you about the carpet and using Lysol wipes! Everyone thinks I'm crazy. Can't wait to read more, sounds like you guys had so much fun!

The one time I did on-line check in I didn't find it to be any quicker either, for the exact same reason as you. Not sure I'll bother with it in the future.

Love that boat ride from Port Orleans to DTD, so relaxing!

I bet Claire eats squeeze-y baby food all the time at home and never squeezes it all over everything. :rotfl: Landon's done that a time or two as well.

Sounds like Claire did great on the flight over. She's probably getting a lot of flying experience these days.

I love all the pictures of your new town. Those mountains are so beautiful. It would be so cool to be able to visit France one weekend and Italy the next. What a great adventure!

Sooo...remember when I thought I would have more time to write my TR once we moved to Switzerland? Well, I was WRONG!

For Claire and I, our mom-baby social life is way more active here than it was at home, so most days are jam-packed with playdates and outings.

But I am going to try to do AT LEAST one update a week so I can get this thing done.

Plus, I have some fun adventures to share with you from our travels here.

So stay tuned! :goodvibes

I'm glad you're having so much fun!!

Looking forward to a trip update & hearing about what you've been up to!

I was wondering if your phone got 'healed' in the rice. :)

Glad you guys are having so much fun! :cool1:

Hi Amy!

We are having a great time here. More than I ever would have imagined.

I am working on a trip update now!

It is great hearing from you.

Thanks!

It did! It did! My phone is back to its original state! If only rice could do that to humans! :rotfl:

After a tiring, but great, arrival day at Disney World, I had hoped that Claire would be so tired that she would sleep through the night and then sleep until at least 6 a.m. Boy, was I wrong! You see, my Claire Bear has never really been a good sleeper. She woke up during the night until we moved to Switzerland, which was 2 months ago, when she was 14 months old. So that first night at Disney World, she woke up twice during the night, needing one bottle and one cuddle session. Then, she woke up for the day at 5 a.m.! Let me remind you that we lived in Chicago at the time, so this was 4 a.m. Chicago time! I could not get her to go back to sleep at this point, so I just tried to play quietly with her until my mom was ready to get up. At 6:30, I couldn't take it anymore and I had to wake my mom up. We had decided the night before that we would skip our Crystal Palace breakfast reservation so Claire could get a little extra sleep. Since extra sleep wasn't happening, I decided we were going to go for it with Crystal Palace.

I ever-so-gently woke my mom up and told her my idea. She was full of questions like "But don't we have to eat breakfast at the resort first?" Um, no, we don't have to eat breakfast first because we are going to breakfast! "But it's going to rain. How are we going to get there in the rain?" The same way we would get there if it wasn't raining! "But what about Claire's nap?" Claire will take a nap when we're at Magic Kingdom. Nonsense questions answered, my mom agreed to going along with my plan and we speedily got ready. We headed out to the bus stop to find about a billion other people who were also going to the Magic Kingdom. While we waited for a bus, I saw a family come to the bus stop with 4 kids, one of whom was in a stroller. Well, the kid in the stroller jumped out of the stroller, causing the stroller to be pulled backwards by the bag full of bottles that was hanging on the back of the stroller, and said bottles exploded all over the floor of the bus stop, splashing bystanders with root beer and orange soda. :scared1: Let me tell you, the parents whose drinks were ruined and the bystanders whose feet were now wet and probably going to be sticky were none too happy with this situation. I was thankful that I was neither the parents nor the bystanders. After that little bit of excitement, the bus pulled up and we were lucky to get on. By the time we got to Magic Kingdom, it had really started raining, so we covered ourselves and the stroller in ponchos and headed to Crystal Palace. This was my first time going into Magic Kingdom for an ADR before rope drop and I LOVED IT!!! :lovestruc I must do it again!

The first glimpse of the castle on every trip is such a special and happy moment. This was even more special, though, because it was Claire's first-ever glimpse of the castle. She didn't seem too impressed, but I was happy to be able to show it to her anyways!

Almost-empty Magic Kingdom:

We arrived at Crystal Palace about 7 minutes late for our 8:05 reservation, but they sat us very quickly and soon we were eating the delicious array of foods that is offered by Crystal Palace. :cloud9:

As I was uploading these pictures to photobucket, I actually started to cry a little bit because Claire is SO different now from how she was then. Where has my baby gone? :confused3

Here's my little pumpkin enjoying some yummy breakfast

Pretty soon, it was time for characters! Claire's very first Disney character interaction was with....

P1010141.jpg

Piglet!!!

Claire is a pretty shy girl, so I was very pleasantly surprised that she did not cry when Piglet was playing with her!

I love this picture:

Then came Eeyore

After Eeyore, Pooh came around, but Claire wasn't interested in characters anymore, so I let her eat and just waved as the rest of the characters came around.

Once we had all had enough to eat, we hurriedly packed up the diaper bag, paid our bill, and headed out to retrieve our stroller. We were late for a very important date!

We got to the stroller and realized that someone had moved it while we were inside the restaurant and it was SOAKED with rain water!!! Oops! So my mom pushed the stroller and I carried Claire and we walked as fast as we could, without running, over to Small World.

Coming up: Will we make it to the Small World DIS meet?!

Great update! I love Crystal Palace in the morning. Claire is such a cutie!
So glad you are enjoying Switzerland and cannot wait to hear more about you adventures there!

"4 am" wow that is early...hope she sleeps better for the rest of the trip! So glad you made your CP ADR and had the wonderful albeit empty walk up Main Street :goodvibes

love the pictures w/ Piglet...my NR (then 18 months old) first character reactions were w/ WTP and gang too and have some precious pixs of her w/ Piglet too :cutie:

run Julie, run....;)

Aww, super cute pictures of Claire with Piglet and Eeyore.

ACK to your stroller being moved and getting rained on!! That is frustrating. :headache:

Just joined but looking forward to the report! Your DD is beautiful!

That is an early start!
Your mom's questions crack me up.
Crystal Palace before park opening is the best.
