A Whole New WDWorld: A March PTR (NEW! 6/27 TR link!)

Congrats on the Switzerland offer! Loved all the pics! Looks like you all had a great time! I cannot believe your trip is so soon! I'm so excited for Claire! This trip will be one you'll always remember!

i totally missed the part about DLP! I went for a day back in Oct 07...it was soo COLD! LOL! I got a late start because I started a cold when we were in Paris and did not get there until noon and I think they closed at 6pm. Plus I was by myself since my friend was at her convention for the day so I wanted to get back before dark. So I did not get to see alot...but I remember rude people at the parades but that happens at WDW too! LOL! I never made it to the studios part.

And if you go....OF COURSE YOU WILL NEED TO DO A TRIP REPORT!

Congratulations on Switzerland! How exciting! When will you break it to your mom? Just think now you can take Claire to Disneyland Paris! ETA: we must have been posting at the same time!

Less than a week until Disney! I will be living vicariously through you since we still have 3 months to go until our trip.

Thank you!

I am going to wait until after Disney World to tell my mom about Switzerland. My mom really needs this vacation and I don't want her to be sad while we're in the happiest place on earth!

Congrats on Switzerland and yay for one week! :yay:

Thanks!

They most certainly do! There is a whole board here on the Dis devoted to Disneyland Paris. :goodvibes

When will you be moving now that you have made the decision?

Well, you can expect a TR from me on the DLP board!

DH will start his job June 1. So we'll move shortly before then. That gives us lots of time to get things settled around here.

Yay for Switzerland! I think you made the right choice and will really enjoy your time abroad.

Disneyland Paris sounds great! You'll be pretty close, so I'm sure it won't be just a one-time deal. ;) I'll always regret not going when I spent a week in Paris. I really thought about it, but then decided to go to Chartres Cathedral instead. I thought that when I looked back on the decision, I'd be happier I saw the famous stained-glass windows...nope, I now really wish I had gone to Disneyland :rotfl:

We are military, but we haven't lived anywhere too exciting, just Pensacola Florida, Jacksonville Florida, and now Alexandria VA (right outside of DC). It looks like we'll be going to Norfolk, VA next- I may not be "seeing the world" but I'm getting a pretty good tour of the eastern seaboard :rotfl2:

I do feel like we made the right choice for us.

So funny about choosing the Cathedral over DLP and then regretting it. :rotfl: You'll just have to go back!

Wow...you have lived in lots of places. Moving is such a pain, isn't it?

One week!! How exciting!!

(Can I give you my chocolate order now??) ;) Congratulations!

Kathy

You know, Kathy, my DH is going to work for a pretty big chocolate manufacturer and we will have access to the company store...

congrats on the offer. That will be an amazing experience for your family!

Thanks Kara!

Congratulations on Switzerland! That's so exciting! And :dance3: for one week!

Thank you!

Less than one week now!! And a grand Switzerland adventure waiting for you after the trip! There is going to be so much to do in Europe. Disneyland Paris should be awesome.

You're right. There is SO much to do in Europe. And we plan to make the best of our time there by doing as much as we can.

:yay: for only one week left!

Congrats on the job offer and on making a decision. I think a trip report for Disneyland Paris would be fun to read. I may have to go find one...:surfweb:

Thank you!

I'm going to have to check out the DLP TRs as well to help with my planning!

HUGE Congratulations on Switzerland!!!!!!

I am SO SO excited for you all! You have to PROMISE PROMISE PROMISE if you decide to come over to England you will let me know so we can meet up! You're going to be so close to me (ish!!! )

and super double YAYs!!!! for Disney next week!!! SO happy you're finally taking Claire - she will have a blast!

P.S. We have to been to Disneyland Paris a few times - I personally love it!!! Its DISNEY!!!

Julie xxx

We will absolutely go to England at some point and I will definitely let you know so we can meet up. I would love to meet you and Toby and to have a tour guide who knows what she's talking about!

I'm glad you like Disneyland Paris! I hope I do too!

Does your mom know yet?

There will be a lot of travel for both of you, I know. :) She'll get to see some cool places, too, so that's a plus.

Do we have to learn to type in Swiss?

See you there! :dance3:

Can't wait to see sweet little Claire! :cutie:

The man knows how to win a girl over, huh? ;)

We'd love to hear about Disneyland Paris, of course!

I'm so bad at breaking up quotes, so I'm just going to reply to this all as one!

I'm not going to tell my mom until after Disney World. She needs this vacation badly and I want her to enjoy every minute of it. Then, after we return, we will drop the bomb. :guilty:

Yes, you do need to learn to type in Swiss. ::yes:: How else will we be able to communicate? :confused3 :rotfl:

Oh, yes, I think DH is doing anything he can to keep me happy right now and he will be doing the same for the next 3 years!

Congrats on the Switzerland offer! Loved all the pics! Looks like you all had a great time! I cannot believe your trip is so soon! I'm so excited for Claire! This trip will be one you'll always remember!

Thank you!

I am so excited for Claire as well. I can't wait to see her reaction to everything at Disney World!

Rude people in France? Never! :rotfl:

I will for sure do a TR. Hopefully we'll go this July!

Guess what!?!

I'm going to Disney World in FIVE DAYS!!!!:yay::woohoo:

I'm working on crossing items off my to-do list today. My Garden Grocer order is almost finalized. I'm going to place the order tonight.

I went to WalMart today and got some more toys for Claire to play with on the airplane as well as some snacks for her to have on the airplane.

I have almost everything except clothes out and ready to be put into suitcases. And when I say almost everything, I mean almost everything in our entire house. :rotfl: I seriously need to cut down on the amount of things I'm trying to bring on this trip!

Yesterday, DH and I purchased the digital SLR camera that I have been salivating over for months! Now I have to decide if I should bring it to Disney World with me. I know that it would allow me to take excellent photos, but I just don't know if I want to take a chance with my brand new toy!

It seems like there are so many illnesses going around right now. I'm praying that my mom, Claire, and I can all stay healthy for the trip!

I think you should take the new camera! I can't think of a better place than WDW for its maiden voyage!

We've brought ours for our past three trips, and while it is much larger than the point and shoot it does take much better pictures (and we haven't even figured out all the settings yet ;) ). I'll usually throw the point and shoot in my bag as well, for when DH doesn't want to stop to let me get out the big camera, but your DH sounds like he would be a little more accommodating to Disney photo madness!

i agree...take the camera. my brother and SIL took theirs on our trips and their pictures were soo much better. just get a camera strap for around your neck and keep it on you!

Five days!! I'm sure you'll get lots of cute Claire pictures, no matter which camera you take. :thumbsup2

Hurray for Switzerland!!! I can't wait to read all about your move there! It really is such a fabulous opportunity!

Definitely take the camera to Disney! :thumbsup2

wow Julie alot has happend in a week :goodvibes

that is amazing about the job and your move...when do you go? and is it a time frame or indefinite for the duration...either way it is way exciting :cool1:

we should try and do a Dismeet of Chicago Disers maybe at Woodfield or something like that to send you off :thumbsup2

take the new camera and I would SO read your BLOG AND a TR about Disney Paris

J~

WDW is definitely a perfect place for the maiden voyage of the camera. I'm just so nervous about it!

Oh, my DH would so not be cool with photo madness at WDW, but he's not going on this trip, so it doesn't matter!

I have the camera strap. I made sure we got that right away. The bag we have for the camera is GIGANTIC though because it holds the lenses. I'm thinking that if I can get a smaller bag and just bring one lens, I can do it.

Yeah, she's cute no matter what! :cutie:

Okay, okay, you're all convincing me. The camera is most likely coming with me!

J~

The commitment in Switzerland is 3 years. So we would move back to Chicago in time for Claire to start kindergarten. I really would like her to start school here in the states. DH will start the job June 1, so we will move shortly before then.

A Dismeet at Woodfield would be great! Let's plan it!

Yeah for a new camera, what kind did you get? I really want one but not sure which one to get.

I know what you mean about packing the entire house, it is so hard not to when traveling with little ones. I know I will completely overpack when we go in June.

We got a Canon Rebel T1i. So far, I love it. Of course, I have no idea how to truly use it. But I did get the DSLR for dummies book from the library and I'm looking into classes. It's such a good camera, though, that it takes great pictures even without me knowing what I'm doing!

I'm sitting here, watching Claire pull every book off of her bookshelf (she can not stand the sight of an organized bookshelf or toy cabinet), listening to the Disney World radio station on Live365, having some coffee, and DISing. What a great start to my day!

Today's to-do list has lots of items on it, including bringing all my change to the bank and then taking the cash to the Disney Store to put the money on a giftcard. I've decided that we're going to upgrade to Park Hoppers when we arrive, so I'm hoping there's enough change in the bucket to pay for that.

My packing is going surprisingly well. I'm doing it little by little, so I won't feel rushed or frantic about it on Sunday.

As much as I wish DH were coming on this trip with us so he could see Disney World through Claire's eyes, I am a bit relieved that we don't have to prepare the dogs and the house for a week away.

Now I'm off to check the weather forecast. Hoping for warmth and dryness!

It looks like we're in for mostly sunny/partly cloudy days with temps in the upper 70s/low 80s, and 2 days of possible thunderstorms. If we do get thunderstorms, I hope they are mild and short-lived.

We got a few more inches of snow last night and officially set the record for the most snowfall in February in Chicago. Kind of cool to have set a record, but I was enjoying the clear sidewalks for running and dogwalking!

The snow on the ground today is making the temps in the 70s and 80s sound heavenly. I can not wait to feel that warm Florida air!

Warm weather sounds really good right now! The temps sound like they are going to be perfect for your trip.

Another vote here for taking the new camera. We got a DSLR for Christmas last year and took it on our June trip. I was wonderful to get such quality pictures. I agree with you though about only taking 1 lens. I will take extra lenses when I no longer have a diaper bag with me.

I'm leaving in 2 hours :scared1:

Wanted to wish you a safe trip and can't wait to meet you on Tuesday. Hopefully, our BBB appt is on time so we dont' miss the meet. I may run out if it is running late to see you all.

The last 2 days has been a whirlwind, as I am sure you are experiencing now. But, with Disney as the prize at the end, I can't complain:thumbsup2

Yay for only two days!!!!! I would definitely bring your new camera! I had just gotten mine for Christmas when I went in April and I am so glad I brought that camera and my point-and-shoot! I got some amazing pics! Glad the packing is going good! I always overpack...even for just myself! Have an amazing trip!
