A Whole New WDWorld: A March PTR (NEW! 6/27 TR link!)

Looks like a beautiful place to ski! It must have been nice to have a whole day to ski, but I'm sure it was hard to leave Claire behind.

Carter was the same way with his cousins when he was younger. They'd be playing and get excited and be loud and he'd burst into tears. He's fine with them now, though, so I guess it's a short lived phase.

Less than two weeks to go! How exciting! It sounds like you gained a lot of knowledge that will make the Disney trip easier. I would think Claire would sleep better, if she wasn't dealing with a time change. And if she is sleeping now from 8 to 8:30, instead of 7 to 6:30, I'd keep her on Mountain Time forever. :rotfl:

Looks like you guys had a great trip! I'm so glad you got the chance to practice vacationing before your Disney trip. That is my number one tip for people taking babies for the first time to WDW, to practice vacationing so you have some idea what to expect (of course its always nice to take a full practice vacation- so kudos to you!).

I also wouldn't worry too much about the pacis yet. We're a paci household as well, and I've weaned Everett down to just for naps and nighttime (and during my stroller exercise class, but that is a necessity). I figure he'll give it up when he is ready. I just recently stopped nursing him, so I know he needs to get his comfort somewhere

Good luck with your big decision! I know its tough moving away from family and friends, we've done it more than I've liked with DH being military. We've considered taking orders to Japan for his next tour, just for the experience of living overseas, but we've run into many of the same dilemmas that you have. I wish you the best!

I've given in to the paci now! We're just going to use it now for sleeping and deal with the repercussions later!

DH was actually born in Japan on a military base. His parents loved living there. Where else have you lived with the military?

Julie, yes, now that Chelsea and Connor are older they are much better about sleeping in new places. Thank goodness!

Hope you feel better soon! Have fun with DH's mom and sister this weekend!

Hope Switzerland makes an offer soon. It stinks to be waiting to hear before you can make any decisions.

Well, I have hope for Claire then!

My cold is pretty much gone now. It was short and mild, thank goodness!

We heard from Switzerland...more info to follow.

I'm glad to hear that about Carter! It gives me hope for Claire.

Haha! You're right. 12.5 hours is way better than 11.5 no matter which way you slice it!

All of our visitors are now gone. DH's mom and sister were picked up by a cab about an hour ago and we have the house to ourselves again!:cloud9:

It's wonderful to see them and visit with them, but this has been a crazy few weeks, with the ski trip last weekend, MIL and SIL this past weekend, and Disney a week from today. Yep, you read that right! We are going to Disney World ONE WEEK FROM TODAY!!!!!!

One week from right now, mom, Claire, and I will have arrived at Port Orleans Riverside and will hopefully have gotten into our room and settled in. I think we're going to take it easy the first evening and just check out Downtown Disney and go with the flow. I'm thinking a park would be a little much, but who knows?! We might not be able to wait!

In non-Disney news, the offer came from Switzerland on Friday. And it is absolutely fantastic. Better than we could have ever imagined. And then the offer from the Chicago company came. And it is not great. Not bad, but not great.

So, now we have a real decision to make. And we have to make the decision this week. At the moment, all signs are pointing to us taking the leap and going to Switzerland. DH is completely on board. I'm on the fence, though. I'm slowly coming over to the Switzerland side of the fence. I think that after a long talk tonight, we will have our decision. So stay tuned...

Now, for my Disney to-do list. I need to make my to-do list now so that I can get started on it tomorrow. I am so very happy that we'll have a full weekend to prepare for the trip before we leave next Monday.

Congratulations on the Switzerland offer! I can't wait to hear what you guys decide... I don't know what I'd do in that situation! Can your whole family move with you. :rolleyes1

Yay for one week until Disney!!! :cool1: Happy organizing/list making/packing!! See you soon!!!

I am so excited for you! WDW in a week and a potential move to Switzerland! I hope that "if" you move that you will post some of your adventures. :goodvibes

Congrats on the offer! That's great news. My cousin is moving to London this year for his job, and will be there for 3 years. Originally it was going to be to Hong Kong which he was kind of unsure about but then that offer was replaced with London and then it was an automatic yes for him. I hope you and your husband decide the best decision for your family.

Hurray for being less than a week away from Disney!

Congrats to your DH on the great Switzerland offer! Good luck with the decision! :goodvibes

It has been decided. We are going to Switzerland! DH will give the verbal commitment this week and then he'll get the contract. Once he signs the contract, it's set in stone.

I'm scared, excited, worried, hopeful, incredulous, confident, and nervous all at one time.

But we are only on this earth for a short time and we should certainly make the best of it.

I plan to start a blog about our Swiss adventure when the time gets closer, so I will share that here if you'd like to follow along.

I wish we could take our family with us! If we could do that, it would be the easiest decision ever.

I will see you one week from today! yay! :yay:

There are lots of exciting things going on right now. It's hard to focus on one at a time.

I will definitely share my adventures here! I am sure that I will need my DIS friends more than ever when I'm so far away from home!

London sounds like it would be great. It would be nice to not have a language barrier.

DH's brother lives and works in Taiwan. He loves it. I'm not sure I could do Asia though...

Hurray for being less than a week away from Disney!

Congrats to your DH on the great Switzerland offer! Good luck with the decision! :goodvibes

I can't believe our trip is so close. We're getting more snow today, so Florida weather sounds divine right now!

Thanks Jackie!

One week from today, Claire, my mom, and I will hopefully have had a good night's rest in our room at POR and we'll get on the Disney bus headed for Magic Kingdom! :yay: Upon arrival at Magic Kingdom, we will head straight for It's a Small World and we will meet up with our DIS friends, some of whom I have previously met, most of whom I have not. I'm super excited about this DIS meet, as is my mom. Claire would be excited too, if she know what was going on! :rotfl:

We plan to spend the morning at Magic Kingdom and have lunch there. Then we'll head back to POR for an afternoon nap.

I haven't made any plans yet for the evening because I'm not sure what we'll be up for, but I'm hoping to make it back to MK for the parade at some point. So maybe we'll be seeing the parade one week from today!

Having decided that we are going to move to Switzerland, DH and I were talking about places we would like to travel. Our of nowhere, DH told me that I should start planning a summer trip to Disneyland Paris! My Disney-neutral husband actually told me to plan a Disney trip! :yay: So, when I return from Disney World, I am going to start looking into Disneyland Paris and begin planning our trip. Do DISers do TRs of Disneyland Paris? I would like to do one for sure.

Remember when I said I was going to make my to-do list yesterday? Never did it! I'm going to do that right now.

Congratulations on Switzerland! How exciting! When will you break it to your mom? Just think now you can take Claire to Disneyland Paris! ETA: we must have been posting at the same time!

Less than a week until Disney! I will be living vicariously through you since we still have 3 months to go until our trip.

Yay for Switzerland! I think you made the right choice and will really enjoy your time abroad.

Disneyland Paris sounds great! You'll be pretty close, so I'm sure it won't be just a one-time deal. ;) I'll always regret not going when I spent a week in Paris. I really thought about it, but then decided to go to Chartres Cathedral instead. I thought that when I looked back on the decision, I'd be happier I saw the famous stained-glass windows...nope, I now really wish I had gone to Disneyland :rotfl:

We are military, but we haven't lived anywhere too exciting, just Pensacola Florida, Jacksonville Florida, and now Alexandria VA (right outside of DC). It looks like we'll be going to Norfolk, VA next- I may not be "seeing the world" but I'm getting a pretty good tour of the eastern seaboard :rotfl2:

:yay: :yay: :yay: One week!! How exciting!! :yay: :yay: :yay:

(Can I give you my chocolate order now??) ;) Congratulations!

Kathy

congrats on the offer. That will be an amazing experience for your family!

:jumping1: Less than one week now!! And a grand Switzerland adventure waiting for you after the trip! There is going to be so much to do in Europe. Disneyland Paris should be awesome.

:yay: for only one week left!

Congrats on the job offer and on making a decision. I think a trip report for Disneyland Paris would be fun to read. I may have to go find one...:surfweb:

HUGE Congratulations on Switzerland!!!!!!

I am SO SO excited for you all! You have to PROMISE PROMISE PROMISE if you decide to come over to England you will let me know so we can meet up! You're going to be so close to me (ish!!! :rotfl: )

Does your mom know yet?

There will be a lot of travel for both of you, I know. :) She'll get to see some cool places, too, so that's a plus.

I will definitely share my adventures here! I am sure that I will need my DIS friends more than ever when I'm so far away from home!

Do we have to learn to type in Swiss?

We'd love to hear about Disneyland Paris, of course!
