There's a song that I want to download to my iTunes list and transfer to my iPod. But, when I go to the iTunes store, the song is not there. How does a song get uploaded to the iTunes store? I'm assuming there's no other way to add it to my iPod if it's not in iTunes?

The song you want is not available for sale on I-tunes?
Probably the artist or label has not given I-tunes permission to sell it.

Is it available from another music service? I have Rhapsody and I-tunes. I have bought songs from Rhapsody that were not available on I-tunes. Those songs I burned onto a rewritable CD then uploaded the song to I-tunes to transfer to my Ipod Nano

I suspected that the artist/label did not give permission for iTunes to sell it. It is a relatively old/obscure song (Escape/Pina Colada song - I think by Rupert Holmes or Jimmy Buffet?), so I'm not surprised I can't find it. Is there any other way to download it to my iPod?

That's Rupert Holmes.

I was looking for Bob Seger's "Katmandu" and they don't have that either.

It's been suggested to download from another music service, burn a CD, and upload the CD to the IPod. Best I can think of.

All the songs in my IPOD were uploaded from CD's that I copied onto my hard drive.

You can also go to the iTunes website and request a song. I did that a few months ago. About a couple of months later it was on iTunes.

doxdogy, what's the link to request a song? I can't find it on the iTunes site. Thanks!

Of course there are other ways...:rolleyes1
I download some of the more "odd" songs from LimeWire, when they are downloaded I put them in "my music folder" and then on to my ipod, all I have to do is drag it from my folder to the itunes one that loads it on to my ipod.......geez that did not make sense but that is what I do and it works!

Thanks, everyone!

You can also just drag it from LimeWire to your iTunes/iPod...that's what I usually do and delete it from LW shortly after. Oh, I meant that's what my friend does. :rolleyes1 ....that's IF, I (he) can't find a song on iTunes.

Okay, stupid question...what is LimeWire? I've never heard of it before.

Eric, hello from another Northern CAer! I grew up in Novato, and miss it terribly!

Hello!!! I was just in Novato the other day on a quick stop before a day in SF w/ the family. Not to make you homesick or anything...but it's shaping up to be a another beautiful summer day in Nor Cal....morning fog, followed by :sunny: and high 70's/low 80's.

LimeWire is a website, which you download a program that allows people to share videos, programs, photos, documents and.....music. LimeWire last week was sued by the recording industry for allowing people to download music illegally (free). You can pretty much find ANY song you'd ever want on it's site. I prefer to use iTunes, but there are times when I can't find a song on iTunes or quite remember a song and a :30 second snippet doesn't quite do it for me...I'll download it off LW and listen to it. Then that morality issues kick in...do I go back and spend the $0.99 or just drag it over. Guilt usually kicks in and I spend the cash, but for those songs I can't find on iTunes...it definately comes in handy.

Be careful with Limewire....I got all sorts of junk mail and a virus that slowed me down badly. Once I uninstalled LW and did a scan, I was okay again.

Thanks, everybody! I did send a request to iTunes to have the song added - we'll see if it pops up in a few weeks/months. LW doesn't sound like a program I'd be interested in. Gotta love the DIS for being able to help with quick answers!
