A week of DDP sharing (long)

Thank you so very much for your first-hand report on sharing on DDP.

While reading all the "thank you notes", I was impressed with the lack of cinders floating down to the bottom of my screen (no flames)!

...and the sound of queeky sneakers on the feet of the anti-sharing crowd, as they sneek from the room, is quite amusing...

Good on 'ya!

I'm not surprised at the lack of flames, I haven't read one post where people thought you shouldn't be able to share (not counting the child/adult credit issue). From what I am reading, people are more afraid that they won't be allowed to share.

Thanks for the first hand report. I would love to hear how your meals were. We are eating at the LTT, Coral Reef, and Sci-fi for the first time in many years. We love Kona and Le Cellier, so I know we are safe there!

Thanks for the report. We did not share TS meals last year but it might have been a better idea, my DDIL does not eat enough to keep abird flying. We did share our CS meals becasue there was simply too much food in the course of the day, and we liked a sit down meal every night. This year we are trying to work 2 signature meals into the trip, and have too many TS planned as it is, so I would like to stretch the CS again.

Thank you for your excellent report. While we are 2A and 2C, I like to see how people handle a larger group at some of my favorite restaurants.

If I may ask one question...you said that at Coral Reef your 6 yo ordered a child meal but had no appie as one wasn't available. When we were there in April, both of my sons (8 and 3.5) were offered appies off the adult menu and my 8 yo is now obsessed w/ lobster bisque. Are they no longer offering children this option or did your child simply not like any of the offerings? We'll be there dining again during the free dining period and I want him to have this and will be happy to pay OOP for it if necessary but just wondering.

Thanks for the great review.

We had the same experience in May. Because kids choices were so limited, our server told us (without us asking) that DD4goingon24 could order one off the adult menu. ;) ;) (his winks, not mine) She ordered the shrimp cocktail. :rolleyes1

Like many things Disney, I suspect it all depends on which CM you're dealing with, where, and when.

A good report and think this information will help put many minds at ease. Sounds like you had great dining experiences too.

Thanks for the review. I am now a little more hopeful that my DD will enjoy the dining plan. I wish Disney had an inbetween plan for kids. DD is 9 and wouldn't never eat as much as the adult plan offers, but she is getting away from wanting chicken nuggets and grilled cheese for every meal. Hopefully she will be able to get an appetizer that will make her meal seem less childlike.

Thanks for the review.
Sounds like you all ate well and that you had some very good servers. :thumbsup2

Coral Reef child appie update...I was wrong and will fix the original post...

DS6 had the shrimp coctail...I had to call Dmom to find out as he sat far from me, but beside her...sorry for the confusion.

Thanks, Tink. Seems as if they are still (at least right now) allowing kids to order an appie off the adult menu. Of course, as we all know, that could change tomorrow. But since ds8 loves that bisque so much, I'll just pay OOP (we are on free dining, a little bit extra won't hurt) if needed.

Thanks again.

I just spent the last few minutes wondering why coral reef offers "apples" aka "appie" on the adult menu. :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :lmao: :lmao:

I swear im not normally this slow just tired tonight :p

The action to do is really to just announce to your server what your intentions are at the beginning. Usually, you will not get any retort, much less a bad one in that instance.

It does depend on the CM serving you and if you just state that you are not that hungry and two people are going to share, 9 times out of 10, you will be successful.

I plan on doing exactly what you did with the sharing. I have a dd10 and dd11 that eat nothing but chix fingers and ice cream. I am hoping with the credit that they will be sharing they will be allowed to order chix fingers with an adult portion off the kids menu. Thank you for your reviews!!!

Last year DH and I shared meals at Sci-Fi and Tony's with no problems.(and no negitive attitudes.) :wizard:

Thank you for sharing your experiences. We plan to share some meals too, and we have some meals where one is using a credit and another isn't- we're going to a few restaurants where I just will not want all that food.Glad to know that they are being accomodating still. :)
