A Wedding, a Disneymoon, and drama included free of charge! A Dec 09 TR* UPDATE 8/17!

I've had work get in the way of my disboard time but life sometimes has to take priority. I'm all caught up now and will be hear waiting for your next update - whenever that is... Gotta take care of things on the home front, your dis-family will be here when things are back to normal again.

Ok I'm back! Things have calmed down slightly. We are moving at the end of the month! My uncle decided to rent his house so we will be moving. Moving during my busiest month at work and only getting 1 month to do it is a little daunting, but my mom has already offered lots of help so I know it will get done! Still having some communication issues, but, don't we all?! :lmao: I describe us like this: we are finally reading the same book, but we are not on the same page, and possibly not even the same chapter. Thats us in a nutshell! Hopefully after the move and our busy schedules calm down we can start to work on that some more. Ok enough off topic issues, on with the tr!

Last I left you we were leaving DTD. We had an ADR at one of my most anticipated spots all trip BOMA.

We took the bus from ASMu to AK, then grabbed an AKL bus. It was packed. I mean so packed you could not move. There was a woman who fought her way from the back of the bus all the way up to the front to try to talk to the driver!:scared1: The driver was having none of it. He promptly told her in not so many words that he was driving and to sit down and shut up. She however, did not get the hint.

Of course we were running behind (it was a theme this trip) and the bus just HAD to stop at Kidiani before Jambo house. We ended up being about 5 minutes late.

We went immediately to check in and wait for our table. This was taken from the waiting area. I was amazed!

I will say neither of us enjoyed BOMA. I cannot eat nuts and generally avoid anything with seeds. It's a stomach issue as opposed to an allergy. I was just a little aprenhensive to try a lot of the food. I will say that I am not a very adventurous eater, but DH is. I loved the carved meat station, the beef was amazing, and the server there was very nice and went out of his was to have a conversation with us. My other favorite was the cream of mushroom soup. I looooove mushrooms. This was the best soup I have ever had. I believe I had 3 bowls!

It was a nice atmosphere, and we loved certain things, but we agreed that we would most likely not be returning. I'm not sure if it had more to do with the fact that neither of us found much to eat, or if it was a buffett and I really never get my money's worth. Great experience, glad we tried it, but we will not return for awhile. I'm glad we had free dining for this one!

After eating we expolored a bit.

We did go to the observation deck, but being dark did not get to see much. I already knew how amazing it would be, and was very glad we had a lunch ressie at Saana so we could come back to this area. Spectacular.

We were both pretty beat so we decided insted of hitting a park we would turn in for the night. We had a big day coming up!

Next up: Epcot, and will this rain evvvver stop!?!?

We ate at Boma's in 2007 and I found it just okay. I know I'm in the minority but I just wasn't overwhelmed. DH liked it okay but hasn't asked to go back, maybe in a few years. We did however really enjoy looking around the resort. It is just Beautiful!

Yay an update! Wonder what that woman was wanting to talk to the bus driver about??? :confused3

Bummer about not liking BOMA. Perhaps there will be better meals as the trip goes on! :goodvibes

I know. I figured i would be royally flamed on here for not loving BOMA. I can see why people would. They have food I'm sure that not many people can find at home. I guess I'm just too picky :confused3 We loved the resort. I only wish we could afford it!

I wonder if she wanted to know either where he was going next or what resort he was stopping at first. I only heard him talk to her, she had a think accent and I wasnt sure what she asked. I just thought it was incredibably rude.

I know, we were really looking fwd to it! We def. have some wonderful meals coming up!

I'm sorry you didn't really enjoy Boma. We thought it was good, but we aren't a fan of Disney buffets for dinner, unless we're on the dining plan - like you, we just don't eat enough to justify the price. We do enjoy the buffets for lunch, though. :)

I would try a lunch buffet, but probably not a dinner buffet again. They did have some great desserts, I loved the zebra domes! I wish I would have had the forethought to grab some at Mara to take back to our room!

I understand! Some of our favorite restaurants at Disney are buffets, but I refuse to do them for dinner anymore. We'll probably do a lunch at Boma next March when we stay at AKV again.

I can't wait to hear about the rest of your trip. :)

Thanks for the update - we have never eaten at BOMA but are not big fans of different food either. Have fun packing and getting moved.

Ohhh i dread the move! And DH just informed me that we wont be able to move unless our current apt gets rented, so I'm sending lots of goood vibes to potential renters out there to come and rent it! I still really hope to move. We have goals we would like to meet soon and moving will make that easier for us....I hope. :goodvibes

So here is an off topic rant (sort of). We have to move, I need a new car as my lease is up, my student loans are coming due, and I still only work 3 part time jobs. On top of that, Disney announces free dining for visa card members! Oh how they temp me! Terrible timing Disney, terrible!

However, the dates for free dining make it better. We would rather go at the end of Oct. insted of the end of Sept. But still. We love free dining and are itching for a vacation. AND my sister and her family leave for Disney on sunday, and I really want a medium sketch dooney to go with the wristlet DH surprised me with!

I am trying to be a responsible adult lately. I paid off 3 of my credit cards, and have become a coupon clipping queen to off-set the cost of groceries. I really don't like being a grown up lately :rotfl2:

I suppose I will keep a watch out for more free dining dates and hope they extend them as they usually do and save all my pennies!

Rant over :)

I'm feeling your pain. It's so hard to say no.

Don't you hate those moments that sneak up on you, when you realize you are a grown-up and should act like it? I get at least one of those every day. Its hard to ignore, but I do my best. On the other hand, sometimes I realize I am an adult, and if I want to eat ice cream for lunch, no one can tell me no!

Last year we got a PIN for free dining (before it was released to the public) but had to be there by the end of September. We usually go at the end of October, but decided free dining was worth it and changed to September. The free dining was great, but we had record high temps and almost couldn't deal with the heat. It was about 95 degrees out every single day.

The year before, when we went at the end of October, we had record LOW temps (seriously, we set records; it was 40 degrees out one morning). We deal with the lower temps better than the heat, so we are scheduled this year for the first of November.

So we are hoping Disney continues to follow their old patterns and eventually offers free dining through the end of the year. Then maybe we can have a DIS meet!

Yes it sure is. I am just getting discouraged with the job outlook. I feel as though my years of college, my degree, and my $50,000 in student loans was all for nothing as I am not working in my career field, and have a sneaking feeling I may never be able to full time.

DH did mention something about super cheap airfare the other day, so that encourages me that he wants to go as welll and will contribute more this time. :)

We also got a PIN last year, and were able to use it in Dec. That was awesome.

I agree about Sept/early Oct. TOO HOT. I do not do well with heat adn I have a freaky reaction to too much sun, i get a terrible rash. So being able to go at a time of the year when the sun isnt so terrible and the temps are bearable are a must. I wont spend that much money to sit in the shade.

I am feeling overwhelmed lately. The move (maybe?!?), the car, the loans, little money...I feel like I am being pulled in 14 different directions. I am working 67 hours next week between 3 jobs, but then again the week after that I may only work 20-30. I wish I had a consistant job with reliable income. I'm still on the search, it's just taking longer then I would like!

I'm sorry to hear you're having such a hard time finding a job. What's your career field/degree in? Money is such a stressor in a relationship, so I sincerely hope that you find something with steady hours soon. :)

I am a dental hygienist. A career field I was certain would be no problem finding a job. I did not find out until more then halfway thru the program that hygienists rarely work full time and usually split their weeks between serveral offices. No one felt the need to inform us of this fact until it was too late, and all of us had researched the field and completed observation hours. The economy and my graduation year did not help things either.

I know I complain but we could be way worse off. I do fear my student loans however. I have no idea what to do about them ( I know pay them off, but thats a little difficult right now haha). Money is a big issue with us. I refuse to combine our checking accounts until we are both in a more steady work environment. No need to cause a fight about buying shoes when I used "his" money! :lmao:

I hope to find something more steady as well. it is beyond frustrating to have a (what seems like) worthless degree that cost me a ton of time money and effort. I would love to go back to school, but adding more debt would probably not be the best decision. Still thinking about my options, but like a lot of others, I'm waiting on that perfect job :thumbsup2

As far as the student loans go, call your lender & discuss options. Most loans have a "hardship" deferment, where you can postpone the repayment for 6 months at a time if you legitimately can't afford to start repaying them right now. I did that once or twice with my student loans when money was too tight to make the $200+ payment.

A good majority of mine are in forebarence or deferement, but they are coming due soon. I'm still crossing my fingers that it will all work out!
