A Voyage of Firsts! The WONDERful Journey North: LA-Vancouver-Alaska, 4/27-5/10 2011

We are booked on the repo and the first Alaska cruise.

It will be me, my brother Nacho1337 on the DIS, and our parents.

I doubt I will keep up to date on this thread as I can barely stay up to date on my other trip threads.

Welcome!

Hello everyone!!! I'm back, live in my living room and enjoying what remains of the weekend... Glad to see we're thinking up some pre/post cruise plans already - of course, I haven't already worked out a detailed day-by-day itinerary - honest... :rolleyes1

I was thinking about flying into San Diego, Monica - I'd love to see the zoo and Hotel del Coronado - BUT it all depends on the flights. I'm crossing fingers and hoping we can get a couple of heftily discounted fares with Virgin Atlantic using airmiles as Richard has loads and they only fly into Los Angeles so, if they're available, that'll make the decision for us.

We stayed here for 1 night before our Mexican Riviera cruise in 2008 - glad we did it (for the experience) but it was a little strange and rather pricy considering the accommodation...

Anyway, I think we'll fly out on April 22nd and spend 5 nights prior to the cruise either in LA/Anaheim OR San Diego OR a mix of the two... We will probably use DVC for a DL stay as I've reviewed our points situation and we have quite a few to use up before September 2011, so it makes sense for us... We'll have to fly back promptly following the end of the 1st cruise as I'm expecting exams to start shortly afterwards... :headache: :faint:

Karen,

Welcome home from Paris. WE had an all expense paid luxury trip to the supermarket this weekend. Aren't you jealous.

I'm going to be points poor in 2011 (I think) because of the family descending from the UK for a fortnight's stay in a 2-bedroom. Plus we get to play (shudder) grand dads!

We had a great weekend in Vancouver.:cool1: Went for the football game and our team won! My nephew (age 10) was on the field with his team at halftime and he had a blast. And of course, we were thinking about this trip and went and did some tourist stuff.
Capilano Suspension bridge was fantastic, but it is kind of expensive ($30 for adults) and involves a lot of stairs. Here's a couple pics

all this planning for the left coast all ready???? I vote we all fly into San Diego a few days early, do the tourist musts, and then rent a VW mini bus cover it with Disney door signs and cruise the coast highway like its 1967

Slapped the first kid in Kindergarden, huh??? :rotfl:

Yes, the rumors are true; I am still alive and look to be booking the B2B from LA to Alaska. I have been waiting for this for awhile and with a little luck, I may even get my folks to join the boys and I on it! As usual life is keeping me very busy and off the boards for now, but hopefully things will slow down soon (not much chance). TinkRules always knows how to get in touch with me if something comes up. Boys are doing well, but Danny is having a hard time transitioning into a work program. I keep telling him he needs to work if he wants to go on DCL trips! Hope to be back on soon.

I have mine!!! :yay: A cute shorty version that were reduced on Amazon... ;) And so very suitable for wearing when sipping (OK quaffing!) pink champagne in the snow...
