We are thinking of giving Disney a miss next year ( :guilty: ) and visiting Toronto and Niagra Falls ~ I came on a school visit over 25 years ago at 13 yr old and although I remember having a fantastic time I don't think that I appreciated the wonderful surroundings etc. We are looking for somewhere nice to stay (we tend towards the unusual and are open to self catering) so if anyone has any recommendations they would certainly be appreciated. We will have to visit in August (our school holidays start in July but eldest son will be swimming at the Nationals at the end of July so we can't interupt his training!!!!) what will the weather be like.

We are planning on visiting the CN Tower (maybe I will be brave enough to go out onto the glass walkway this time), Casa Loma - did I remember it right!!!, Niagra falls and I remember going to a Fort (may be called fort york) were the staff were all dressed up and showing of traditional crafts etc.

Thanks for any help and if I can help anyone with a visit to London I will do my best

Glad to hear you'll be coming to visit! I'm sure you'll have a great time. There's already a few threads about Niagara Falls to help you out (Clifton Hill is in Niagara Falls), and lots of us are from Toronto.

I'm not sure what sort of price range you're looking at as far as accomodations go. The Skydome hotel would certainly be unusual, although the rooms run around 289CAD a night. Anyway, I'm sure you'll get a lot more hotel help than I can provide since, living here, I haven't stayed at a lot of hotels.

Hi Snookhams :wave2: ,

I recommend staying at a College residence while you are here. If you are part of an Alumni, you can get rates for a 2 bedroom, with kitchenette and bath for $47 + taxes/night. Here is the link: http://www.residenceconferencecentre.com/
We stayed at the one at Algonquin College in Ottawa and it was quite roomy!

There's lots to see and do in Toronto, we now have Canada's Wonderland since you were here last www.canadaswonderland.com, there's Ontario Place, the C.N.E is on in August(great big fair).

That is Fort York you remember. Toronto has changed a bit since you've been here. We also have the Rogers Centre and Air Canada Centre for sports and such.

The weather here in the summer is HOT! It's 26 today and supposed to get hotter as the week goes along.

Anymore questions, just ask.

A great Disney-like hotel that has just opened in Niagara is Great Wolf Lodge (you should be able to google it for the web address) It's a big "water-park" hotel close to all the tourist stuff in the area (we like the Butterfly Conservatory). There's so much to list in Toronto - and I've never stayed in a hotel to recommend one. For a good location - anywhere near a subway link is best. You'll be able to shop at the eaton centre, or yonge & bloor st, go to the Royal Ontario Museum, the Art Gallery of Ontario, get on a ferry to go over to the toronto islands, go to skydome or the cn tower (you're braver than me - I can't even manage the elevator nevermind the glass floor!). Check out toronto.com - you'll find links to all sorts of hotels plus all the attractions. You'll see that this weekend is a busy one - Grand Prix, Italian Festival in little italy, Yonge Street Festival, and lots more - no need to rent a car in Toronto - everything is linked by subway.
Have fun planning!
