A view on the VIP Tours

I guess I don't understand why this is okay.

In the not too recent past, there was a huge discussion about those staying in Deluxe resorts getting more (or better) fast passes than those staying at Value resorts.

The discussion became heated quickly. People hated this idea.

Isn't that pretty much what we have here?

I would assume that if you are okay with one, you are okay with the other.

I could be wrong, but I think the basic difference is, some people don't want to spend as much for a hotel room. It's just not important to them, because they want to spend the money more on the experience in the Parks than on where they sleep. So if folks *want* to spend large amounts of money on a better room, with better views and better hotel amenities, that's OK with them, because it's not a priority.

But then, if you add things like more (or better) fastpasses only for the folks who want a nicer place to sleep, and those items aren't available (even for purchase) to folks who choose more modest sleeping arrangements, you are now segregating the Park experience based on where you choose to stay. And that seems an unfair distinction to some.

If you offer every Park amenity for purchase, then it is, basically, available to everyone who chooses to pay for that specific amenity, regardless of where they choose to sleep. You don't have to pay for an expensive hotel room (which you may not want) to get the nice Park experiences/amenities.

I have no problem with the VIP tours, either the new "premium" ones or the old ones. I think at the rates that Disney charges for them, it will keep the number of people who are willing (or can) pay for that perk very small--so small that it won't really impact me. Nevertheless, I do fear that this will lead to the charging for things that were once free, such as fastpasses.
