So Day 20 dawns, and it is sadly our last day.

We have an appointment with Bobby our DVC guy at 12 noon and somewhat sadly an appointment with a ‘plane at 1805 hours (as those flying johnnies say!).

So what to do to fill the time?

We decide that maybe a few hours at IoA is in order. So I try to call Bobby to bring our appointment forward, only to get his answerphone saying that he is not in until 10am this morning (he’s been away for the weekend). So I leave a message saying we will be there just after 10am on the basis that if he wants our business he’ll be available. If I were a gambling man, I would put money on him making himself available;)

Check out via the TV is attempted but it does not seem to want to work, so I decide to try the telephone based check out. A stunningly good idea I say, right until the point where I am asked, by the nice electronic woman on the end of the ‘phone, to spell my email address and use the phonetic alphabet for each letter. This starts well but soon goes down hill, so if anyone gets an email with our hotel bill I apologise!
It ends up being more frenetic than phonetic, but as with Bobby earlier I bet on the fact that as the hotel has our credit card details they will find some way of charging us!!

We set off for Saratoga Springs and the lovely and charming Bobby (or should that be the money and wallet separating Bobby?!), who unsurprisingly is able to accommodate us ;) ;)

The deed is done and we set sail for IoA with our DVC bag and hundredweight of paperwork!

It is a pleasant warm day so we decide to have a walk around IoA and lunch at Margaritaville. As with most parks, we are not too bothered about riding many rides, albeit we would like to get on Spiderman, but as we approach the “time” board changes to 50 mins, which is just too long so we give it a miss. We continue to perambulate and are just entering Seuss Landing when we spot a cart on The High In The Sky Seuss Trolley Train Ride. I cannot remember how long the tracks have been up there and not running, so we simply must have a go. Wait time is a very respectable 20 mins, so away we go. I enjoyed the ride, it is a nicely themed and relaxing ride but you are quite high and so I would say those with a fear of heights may want to give it a miss.

After all of this excitement, there is only one thing left to do MARGARITAVILLE!

We sit at the bar, imbibe a couple (Deb’s margaritas are spectacular) and have some excellent wings and possibly the best burger of the holiday – after all it is called a “Cheeseburger in Paradise”. I have a moment trying to work out how to stay here and not have to make the journey home. Good food, good Lone Palm Ale, the best company in the world in Deb and Jimmy playing in the background; everything seems right with the world.

Oh and the volcano did blow!!

We decide it is time to make the car journey when we start talking to the couple next to us at the bar, it never ceases to amaze me the variety of people you meet in bars. The guy offers to buy us a drink if we are staying for another one, after some deliberation, which could probably be measured in milliseconds, we decide to stay for another. The guy is from Boston and the girl from Ireland. As with all bar discussions, we discuss many things, one of them being the NFL. The Colts are playing the Patriots tonight and he is an avid Patriots fan, and they are trying to decide where to watch the game. I suggest that the Colts will win, but somewhat unsurprisingly he says the Patriots, we have a moneyless wager, but stupidly I don’t get his email address – as the Colts did win!

After our last drink we conclude that we cannot prolong the inevitable any longer and head off into the sunset for the homeward journey.

The rest of the day is mostly uneventful, other than being kept onboard waiting at the gate by some people who’ve checked in but not arrived at the plane. We were discussing where they could be, and one could hear people around the cabin slating them, but, as Deb quite rightly said we don’t know what may have befallen them.

A very wise and understanding thing to say, but even Deb thought better of this when the captain came on and said that the missing passengers had arrived at the gate and were arguing the toss – always a good idea I say :confused3 . We were away moments after!!

So that was that. Another fantastic holiday done and dusted. Bring on the next!

A conclusion possibly?

I’ve already commented on the first 18 days on Kev’s report so that leaves these two (or so) days only.

Having extra days after your companions is always strange. We’ve done it a few times and you can often feel like you are just waiting around to go home, especially if you are in the same accommodation.

However, we had a wonderful couple of days and it is solely down to the company; my darling wife, who is the most generous and wonderful person I know :wave2: :love2: :love2: :love2: , let’s face it anyone who can put up with me needs to be a saint at the very least.

Thanks for reading, I may even try one of these report things again in the future.

As a final postscript thanks to Kev for the inspiration and (hopefully) for not being too mad with my plagiarism of his report titles.

:yay: Great report and I think it is lovely that you say such nice things about your wife. :thumbsup2

Did you come back Premium Economy? Can we have a report on your return flight please?

Yes we did. Little to say really, flight time was quite short and smooth and service was excellent as usual in PE which I would highly recommend.

Was your DVC guy Bobby Corsello from New York? He is our guide. I must admit he did little for his money with us as we so badly wanted to be DVC members and have since phoned him up and done an add on. Hope you enjoy your DVC membership.

Thanks for rounding off these great reports Matt, both you and Kev have made these reports so enjoyable to read

Mandy :)

p.s. I'm so glad that I'm not the only 'drinker' on here :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I've really enjoyed reading your reports :thumbsup2

Matt

Lovely to catch up on what you got up to without us.

Good to see you managed to fit a few drinks into the itinerary

Tam

Grand job with the reports Matt, enjoyed them very much.

Now, just Deb's report from Dublin to be done. ;)

Better get Tam to email me the notes before it all becomes a complete blur! :teeth:

Wonderful trip report, as usual--one for the Trip Report Hall of Fame. Kevin, look at your grown up ladies. What happened? When I first started DISsing, they were just babies. They must make you feel so old. :teeth: They certainly make me feel positively ancient.

Anyways, I bailed on the Raglan Road plans, based on your observations--Mum's not one for loud music. We have an Illuminations Cruise that evening, so I think we're just going to take our chances with ESPN Club, Brewing Company or Beaches & Cream.

Look forward to your trip report on the August visit. Your California report was the best--DH loved the shower story--never seen her before line. How does Tam put up with you?

p.s. I just made ressies for the Richard Petty NASCAR thingie for DH. It's a surprise--can't wait to spring it on him.

Great report Matt! I've loved reading all about your holiday! It sounds like a laugh from beginning to end! Can't wait for you to go away again! What a great wife to let you go and play golf again!!!!! :)

Sue

Ooops! I posted this in the wrong thread. Yikes! I blame it on pre-planning/packing stress. Oh well, Matt, your report is a gem as well. I'm such a ninny. So embarrassing.

Must admit I did think that you were having a funny 5 minutes! I'll be sure to pass your comments on to Mr Stringer ;)

Great report, Matt. We must get to Margaritaville for food one day instead of just being lazy and getting margaritas at the walk up window.

Great report.

Well done with DVC. We still can not decide if its worth it for us. We really want to buy, but for some reason we just can not seal the deal :confused3

What have you trodden in :confused3 free drinks. I need some expert advice. Sounds like you met some great people whilst away. I think people see my 3 kids and start walking away backwards before running. There not that bad........ honest :teeth:
