A Very Lurkyloo Christmas is FINISHED! New 3/16: Last Day of the Trip!

That baby cake is too cute

I'm soooo glad you got everything you wanted  Can't wait to hear where and what you'll be munching :thumbsup2

I love the wonderful nerdy idea of printing everything out and doing the moveable stickers and all that jazz, its a great way to de-clutter your brain so you can concentrate on the yummy task at hand. :wizard:

I do the nerdy thing too, just in excel :)

So glad it worked out and am looking forward to seeing the list!

So glad to hear you got everything you wanted, even with having to call in. Can you sign on in advance of your 90 day mark to try to "associate" your confirmation number with dining reservations? I haven't tried yet, but I guess if I can that's something I should probably do.

So what was the problem with the online thing--just the whole it wouldn't make your 90+10 reservations because of your split stay? If that's the case, when you called, I'm assuming that means they allowed you to make your 90+10 for a split stay on the phone?

I have to get up at 5:30 this Sunday to make mine. At first, I was all "This is going to be a piece of cake---I'll get everthing I want" and now I'm turning into "Oh s&$t, I'm freaking out---what if I don't get everything I want?!"

I went for a check-up at the Dr. this morning and honestly considered telling them that if my blood pressure was high, don't worry---it's because my 90 day mark for WDW dining reservations is almost here.

How pathetic.

:rotfl:I'm always that way! Our trip in November 2008 we were there for 9 days. I woke up at 6 a.m. (because I had to have an hour to prepare :confused3) every day for 9 days to make ADR's (as we didn't have resort reservations until a month before our trip) AND I had another phone dialing to try and get an IllumiNations cruise at the same time. It was a nightmare (and such an adrenaline rush)! One of those days I passed out after making them and I was two hours late for work! Bosses sure don't understand the importance of ADR's!

I can't imagine what it'd be like living in another timezone! :faint:

Good luck tomorrow! pixiedust:

I have plan out for 14 days!:headache: I bet I will be asleep at my desk tomorrow morning when I finally get to work after being up so early to make the ressies! I will need lots of :surfweb:

Carrie you are too funny! I did almost the same thing you did spreading it all out so I can see it all. I didn't go as far as cutting out the names though  Glad you got everything you wanted! Can't wait to see your itineray. Maybe will we have some of the same. Wish me luck tomorrow when I do it.

Forgot to add those cakes are adorable!

Will you be tweeting/blogging from the TSM party? I will try and stay up (get up early) to hear and see all the goings on, it's gonna be so cool

Definitely! :thumbsup2 Even though the iPhone software update has made it so I can copy and paste image code into posts on the DIS, I think I may stick with my blog and Twitter because it's so much faster.

Do you think you would ever want to do a Disney cruise? If so you HAVE to sign up for Podcast Cruise 2.0 (12/12/2010 - 4 night cruise), 1.0 in May was the best ever - our first cruise too DH now says he won't do WDW without a cruise for part of it - gotta love that man :lovestruc

You are a lucky lady! :goodvibes I have to confess, the idea of a Disney cruise gets less and less appealing to me the more I learn about it. :guilty: :duck: I think I am just not a big-ship cruise type of person. But if I were going to go, I think you're right - the DIS Podcast Cruise would be the way to start! :thumbsup2

I will be very interested in hearing about the D23 Expo too. I really wanted to join but the shipping charges for overseas about doubled the cost and it's unlikely we'll ever be able to do one of the tours or anything cool like that : I just couldn't justify the cost for 4 (I'm sure very nice) magazines, pin, membership card and over priced exclusive merchandise (which we would also have to pay extortionate shipping and duty on)

Oh man - I don't blame you! It was tough for me to give in and join at half the price! :sad2: So far, I don't think you're missing much, since you don't even have to be a member to go to D23 Expo (and the discount for members is pretty small).

I totally feel your pain - planning is only fun once you've done your ADR's I've gone through a full notepad changing everything around soooo much, gives you such a headache. We're finally sorted 100% now, at long last. Just try and take a break from it now & then so that your head doesnt completey pop, as that could be very messy to clean up. I hope you manage to get sorted and everything you want :wizard: Cant wait to hear all about it:

Thanks for the pep talk! :goodvibes I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who stresses out about it.

I hope it went well!

I was able to get online this morning, but then again, I was only making 1 ADR. Ahhh...the joys of off-site!

I kinda like the 3 month window vs. the 6 month window....that'll be even harder, though I understand the reasoning.

Yeah, the good thing about a 90-day window is being that much closer to your trip that you might have an idea what you'll want to eat. I think I just missed 180 days because it seemed like there was less competition for ressies (again, this is all based on DIS hearsay...)

How'd it go? Can't wait to hear what you got!

I hope you aren't disappointed! :rotfl: I'm going to explain some of the ressies because they're kinda

I'm envisioning her still passed out with her ADR list stuck to her face and her yelling out "Le Cellier! 5:30 p.m.!!" when Patrick calls to tell her she overslept

It's like you're *psychic*!!! :rotfl2:

I hope your ADR's went smoothly and you got what you wanted.

Thank you! I think I did! Let's just hope what I want doesn't change... :lmao:

Exactly! I agree with your DH So if we ever do it....it will be there.

Oooh! Which one? Wait, judging by your signature, I'm guessing Saratoga Springs for the Treehouses? Those things look so fun!

I might be that way tomorrow when I have to go through the same thing

 I hope you aren't half as stressed as I was. Having had 8 solid hours of sleep might help. :)

How fun you are staying at the villas at the Grand Californian!!

We will be in Disneyland in a few weeks and I hope to sneak a peak!

Oooh! I hope you post pix! :thumbsup2

A-ha! So you're the same way. :teeth: I'm so glad I never have to try for another IllumiNations cruise as long as I live...

Totally! I think I'm one of those visual types. I have even been known to deposit cash in the bank and then turn around and withdraw the amount of cash I need because I want to see the income going in and the expenses coming out... :rolleyes1

I do the nerdy thing too, just in excel :)

So glad it worked out and am looking forward to seeing the list!

Oh yeah, I would looove to be able to figure out Excel enough to use it, because I know there are some whizz-bang features. I usually end up accidentally deleting code and screwing it all up though, so I have to make all my charts in Word.

So glad to hear you got everything you wanted, even with having to call in. Can you sign on in advance of your 90 day mark to try to "associate" your confirmation number with dining reservations? I haven't tried yet, but I guess if I can that's something I should probably do.

Well, I thought I had done that earlier in the day when I was on my work PC, but maybe it's not possible or it didn't "take" or something. That's the reason I spent so much time thinking the problem was Mac-based, because I'd been playing with the system all day on Google Chrome for PC with no problem....

So what was the problem with the online thing--just the whole it wouldn't make your 90+10 reservations because of your split stay? If that's the case, when you called, I'm assuming that means they allowed you to make your 90+10 for a split stay on the phone?

Oh yeah, duh - I forgot to put that part. Our first three days' stay was made using a Cast Member pal's Friends & Family discount. I'm able to use our confirmation # for online resort check-in, so I never thought I'd have a problem with ADRs. I think it's just that the online system can't handle that type of confirmation number, the way it had trouble with DVC member reservations at first. Because when I called this morning and gave the lady our number, she didn't bat an eye. (I think - I couldn't actually see her though... maybe her eyes were batting wildly!)

So, no trouble with split stays - in fact, I think you can even make ADRs for 10 days beyond the start of your stay even if it doesn't last at that hotel for 10 days.

Carrie you are too funny! I did almost the same thing you did spreading it all out so I can see it all. Yes! It would be cool if we overlapped, just in case we can't meet at the DIS party. :cutie:

:cheer2: Good luck!!! :cheer2:

:eek:So wait, it won't take DVC confirmation numbers online? Those are the only one's I have. I don't want to lose out on an hour just because of that! Also, I am doing a split stay the first ressie 9-14 and then the second 16-22 can I book for all of it when I put the first one in? I am wondering if I am going to have to call. This is so hard.

Visual types are fab, their plans are the ones that work :goodvibes

OMG  I cant believe you do that with your cash! guess it makes things easier when your trying to tie up loose ends on your paperwork though :thumbsup2

I just got an idea of what I can put in your "Christmas Box!" :goodvibes

Glad to hear you got everything you wanted!! Now, when are you going to tell all of us? hmmm?

xo

... and its baby cake:

photo-42.jpg

SO cute! And $2.49?!? What a steal!

:scared1: you passed out? I'm counting myself lucky now, I only felt like I was going to pass out but didnt :cutie:

I know! It was one of those "I'll just lay my head down for 5 minutes..."

A-ha! So you're the same way. :teeth: I'm so glad I never have to try for another IllumiNations cruise as long as I live...

:cutie: I am! And, thankfully, after reading one of your TR's I will not be trying for one ever again! I didn't want to share ('cause I'm greedy) and now I know it wouldn't be worth the $300+ (and I know I'd go through all of that trouble and $$$ only to get the same reaction from my bf as your guests getting in the boat after your wedding ).

Oh no - sorry to freak you out! DVC confirmation numbers are A-OK now! I know - I just entered one last night and it associated with the page perfectly! :thumbsup2 They only had trouble when the system launched a couple months ago.

Re: the split stay, as far as I have heard, yes. They don't care when your vacation ends, just when it starts. You might ask on the Restaurants board just to put your mind at ease though.

I just got an idea of what I can put in your "Christmas Box!" :goodvibes

Ooh! Ooh! Is it a cake shaped like a turtle?! :hyper: Also... I'm getting a Christmas box?! Boy am I a lucky little bozo!

:rotfl2: Well, gee, now I hope I didn't put you off an idea that maybe you'd love. It's just the $300 that sticks in my craw... :rolleyes2

Not at all!:goodvibes Between your TR and pics and other people's experiences I just know I won't love it $300+ worth of love. That's 100 cinnamon rolls from the Main St. bakery! Or approximately 65 fudge cookies dipped in all sorts of goodness from Goofy's!

Whew! That's good. I will have to go check out the boards so I can see how I can get it all done. Thanks Carrie! :goodvibes

OK I am so glad to know I am not the only one who uses charts and graphs and post-its and highlighters for the ADRs!! I LOOOOOOOOVVVVVVVVVEEEE office supplies and any excuse to use a lot of them...I have to make my ADRs on Friday morning....I am sooooo not a morning person, so hoping I dont oversleep...I have visions that the only ADR that will be available when I go online will be like the Turkey Leg cart! :rotfl:

:rotfl: I love your math! Gee... I wonder how many slices of peanut butter chocolate cake I could get at the BoardWalk Bakery for the price of the CP package... :scratchin

:rotfl2:

I love stationery supplies TOO! After I took that picture, I went down the street and bought three new highlighters, an automatic pencil, and an eraser in a pen barrel that you advance by clicking, all just for the ADR project - whohoo!

OK, here's how I did with my ADRs...

Kouzzina: This one’s a natural because we check in to the BoardWalk on our first evening and can just walk over, plus I want to try it cuz it’s new! We may also end up eating breakfast there sometime during our stay.

Coral Reef: I wanted a sit-down lunch for our first day in Epcot, and I miss the pepperjack cheese grits and our shark buddy, Steve. I’m just not crazy about having to backtrack from World Showcase to make an afternoon meal here, but nothing else in World Showcase sounded good.

Jiko: I thought we could spend the evening of our first day in Animal Kingdom for Extra Magic Hours. Now I know TGM and others tell you to avoid EMH like the plague because it’s a crowd magnet, but we’ve never been to AK after dark, so it will be worth it even just to walk around and look at stuff. But I’m hoping for a night-time ride on Everest... Anyway, I hadn’t planned to eat at Jiko again, but it was awfully convenient to make a late dinner reservation for after the park closes.

’50s Prime Time Cafe: OK, this is a place I have absolutely no interest in, and the reviews do nothing to change that. But one time we stopped in here to use the restroom, and DH looked around with his mouth agape and asked, “What is this place...?” in wonderment as I dragged him out, snapping “Nothing! It’s nothing. We don’t want to go here.” Since I grudgingly have to spend at least a morning in DHS for DH’s sake (that’s a mouthful!), I figured I could make him that much happier by letting him finally eat here.

Todd English’s bluezoo: Now this is a place I’ve been dying to get back to, and I know DH is going to love the food. It’s part of another crazy scheme, this time to do DHS in the morning, Epcot in the afternoon, eat dinner between the two, then go back to DHS for Osbourne Lights while everyone is in Fantasmic!, and end up in Epcot in time for IllumiNations! Whaddya think? Are your feet getting tired just thinking about it?

The Plaza: Somebody was baggin’ on The Plaza on the Restaurants board the other day, and it really got my dander up! I think the burgers here are just as good or better than those at the vaunted Beaches & Cream, and it’s definitely the best table service restaurant in the MK for consistency and quality at the level it aspires to. Tony’s may have steak and seafood, but if they perpetually overcook and over-season them, what’s the point? I’ll take a perfectly cooked burger and fries with a chocolate-chocolate milkshake over that any day!

Bistro de Paris: We haven’t been here since our honeymoon, and I’d like to see if I’m more impressed with the food than last time. I think we had fancy-dinner fatigue (or maybe I had steak fatigue) by this point on our honeymoon, so the place didn’t really stand out to me – other than the romantic atmosphere and fun view of IllumiNations through the window!

Yachtsman Steakhouse: We’ve had two excellent meals here, and I can’t stop dreaming about the filet side of the Porterhouse we split last time. (This time I’m going to figure out a way to keep it all to myself!) I really enjoyed my dinner at Shula’s with Jensey, but I don’t remember what my cowboy cut tasted like the way I remember Yachtsman’s Porterhouse. Plus the bread basket alone is worth a trip – I’m bringing Ziplocs in my purse, Grandma-style!

California Grill: We’ve enjoyed both meals we’ve had here, and it’s walking distance from our room at Bay Lake Tower—what could be bad? However it may get dropped if A) we can’t find another time to do the Magic Kingdom dessert party or B) D23’s “Magic & Merriment” event for members on Dec. 12 & 13 turns out to be something we want to do and can get into...

Le Cellier: OK, I still can’t figure out if I continue to eat here for the food or for the hype. I do really like the cheese soup... and the mushroom filet with cream cheese mashed potatoes is very nice, if overpriced. I dunno – I just made the reservation cuz I could!

Biergarten Candlelight Processional Package: This is a restaurant that DH has been wanting to try and I have been avoiding as long as I can. After all my agonizing over whether to buy the Candlelight Processional dinner package, I found out that CP is Jensey’s absolutely favoritist Christmas activity, so I thought we should do it “right.” Paying $17/person more than the cost of a regular dinner there (and $26/person more than lunch, which is when we prolly would have gone otherwise) is tough to swallow, but when I think of how much cheaper it is to see the popular 8:15 show by eating there than at the Tier 3 restaurants like Le Cellier, I feel slightly better. Plus maybe our special reserved fireworks-viewing section will be Italy!

The Wave: I’m not crazy about the menu descriptions here, but I want to try it at least once because it’s new. Since we’re doing MVMCP the last night of our stay (Jensey strikes again!), I thought we could have a big honkin’ lunch here to minimize the amount of ghastly counter-service food we have to eat at the MK that night. We may do breakfast here too...

The ADRs look great. I wish we could do bluezoo. It's definitely one we are going to add if we decide against the Deluxe DDP.

I have been going back and forth and back and forth about MVMCP. The date we would go is the same date you decided you are going. I think I'm going to wait to see how MNSSHP goes in October and if it's just huge tons of fun---I'll do it. If it is a waste, I won't. We'll see!! :santa:

Great ADR's!!! You did a really good job. We are eating at Plaza for the first time ever in November. I'm really excited!! I told DH after I read your last TR that we have to try that place. The milkshake just looked too darned good!! :lmao:

The Wave was good, both times we have been... First last Nov when it was new, I thought was "better" than this past June/July trip, but DH liked it both times. Blue Agave Margarita... that is all I am going to say, and the dessert "samplers" were very good. We had the lettuce cups I think, as well.

Re the rest of your ADRs, I like your trip from DHS to the Blue Zoo to DHS to Epcot...

Oh! let me tell you about a lovely waiter there at 50s Prime Time.... I think his name was Todd, I will double check, HIGHlarious fellow, very droll and played the "tired waiter" very well... maybe too well  Nah, he was delightful and FUNNY... Really got my DH a few times... OH, and in one TR I read the DH didn't like greens which came with his meal, and the waitress said WHADAYA mean you don't like greens? And she took them away and came back with the plate COVERED with whipped cream and sprinkles... And made him take a bite! Betcha your DH won't like that "gimmick"

Great ADRs I like your choices!! We are trying Kouzzina as well... I will look forward to your report back on it! :thumbsup2
