A Very Lurkyloo Christmas is FINISHED! New 3/16: Last Day of the Trip!

More gratuitous shots of my favorite public area at BoardWalk Inn…

DSC07999.jpg
:cloud9: That's my favorite public place in all of WDW!

On our way to Everest, DH asked if we could check out the Dig Site playground, which we’d never bothered to explore before.
Ooo, it's much neater looking at night!

“This guy is photographic GOLD!!

:rotfl2:

And our first impressions of Osbourne Lights!
:yay: Oh, I hope they treated you well!

Love it! I think you surpassed "pretty good" :). That is so Joe's basement! :rotfl: I love all of the nightime pictures at AK. Actually, I loved all of the pictures! :goodvibes

Danger frog is on Patrick!!!!!!!!!!!!:scared1::scared1::lmao::lmao:

I think the frog may have left Disney - on this weeks Podcast Teresa said she kept being attacked by a frog - sounds suspiciously similar to me ;)

Why, look! It’s two people who just rode Everest three times and didn’t toss their cookies!

Just spotted Patrick has the pin I need  The height restriction one - I have all the others  Does he collect specific pins (DH goes for Stitch and weird Mickey ones (like Pluto dressed as Mickey) and Mickey dressed in costumes. I like the cuties ones and generally anything else that I like. There have been some nice CM pins - in fact there are a couple of newer sets I like (pictures from pinpics.com)

Hmmm, may need to get a few spares to trade when we go in December (hopefully they won't release many more that I like :lmao:)

AK is interesting at night, was it quieter? I can imagine it is quite peaceful.

Great update! I've always wanted to see Animal Kingdom at night. We've just never made it over there! Maybe our next trip :)

Coming out of lurkdom! :goodvibes Great TR so far (and no, it is definitely NOT boring).

Your photos are great, and of course, the Roots' are awesome too!:thumbsup2

I am so sorry to hear about your Dad. :sad1: I know you must be going through a lot right now and it is incredible that you are still entertaining us with your updates. Thank you.

I love anything with peanut butter and chocolate and especially something with cake, but I always seem to forget to wander to the Boardwalk Bakery to try that cake. I must make it there on one trip because it looks so yummy :woohoo:

The birds in the trees at AK are pretty cool, aren't they! We saw them on our trip last year. I'm shocked you don't like Primeval Whirl. DH and I love it, we always squeal like little kids on it, lol. Although you do get whiplash on that thing sometimes!

You have some beautiful pictures at the Lodge, although my favorite shots are always of the food :thumbsup2

Welcome back. Thank you so much for posting all the Boardwalk pictures. Bill and I are staying there for the first time in October. We go back and forth about spending the money, but seeing your pictures has helped me decide to stick with that reservation. Also thanks for the cake pictures, I am thinking about surprising him with a cake on our first night.

I loved the AK after dark pictures. The one with the mirror where you were kissing Patrick was too cute. I liked your Roots mirror picture. Your ride pictures cracked me up, you both looked so calm. You made me smile with the "Joe Rhode's basement" comment.

The dizzy picture at AKL did make me feel dizzy, was it because you put the suggestion in my head?

Oh my goodness the Roots AKL pictures are GORGEOUS!! You had me laughing out loud when you were waving madly at the stranger thinking it was Nathan. So sorry Patrick had to work on vacation and so sweet that he wrote a letter to your Dad.

I have been away from the boards for 6 FULLL DAYS.......CAN YOU STAND IT?????? but I come back to find one of my favorite TR writers completing an installment. It was such a lovely update Carrie. But the last line....was.....very poignant. I am sure you must still be aching after finishing things up with your dad's estate. I can't imagine. I hope that in one of your updates you will write about him. I am certain he was a wonderful person. Probably as charismatic as you are.

I love your pictures of the Boardwalk. It is so beautiful. Dh and I visited it in September and it is on my "must stay" list of places.

I have never ridden EE! It is on my "must do" list for May. All arranged with a Dismeet at the Y&Y bar and ....then....off.....to .....EE! I can't wait. It is my dream to ride it at night!

I love the picture of the peanut butter cake......yum....yum! I am also enjoying all of Patrick's pictures and the Rootography. I just bought a new Cannon EOS and I am really enjoying taking pictures. I can't wait to take it to Disney.

What type of software do the Roots use for their photography? Do they use photoshop, apeture? Just curious, because their photos are gorgeous. I don't ever expect to get that good, but I'd like to see how far I can get.

Not that I don't love everything you've written in your most recent installment (like the PB cake, for example), but...

can you ask Patrick what type of tablet he uses for his computer? I have been looking at a few to make photo editing easier and just can't narrow them down. :goodvibes

I have the cutest story about Fake Santa! We also saw him while standing in line for a Dole Whip Float. A little 4-5 year old boy must have been being naughty or not listening to his dad, because all of a sudden Fake Santa started shaking his finger at him. The little boy looked sheepish, and they walked by. Well, about 30 seconds later, they came back and his father said "Santa, Collin has something he wants to say to you." The little boy looked at him and said "I'm sorry Santa." Fake Santa crouched down and said "It's okay. I'll take that one right off my bad list and put you right back on my good list."
It was absolutely adorable. After they left he told us he'd be going home to write it down, because as often as people look at him, that's very unusual.

Sorry if this is a repeat because I didn't read all your comments. "Fake Santa" is a regular on the Disboards. You can find him on the camping boards and he has lots of great stories about the looks he gets. He did a trip report about this trip and if I remember right the above story was in it.

Wow, your hubby took some really gorgeous photos! :thumbsup2 Thanks for sharing them with us. I really love the photos of AK at night! Even if there's not much to do, I really wanna make it over there for an EMH night on our next trip - if for nothing else than to ride EE in the dark! :scared1:

I toooootally agree with you about Primeval Whirl & Dinosaur. I think I still have bruises on my hips from our ride on PW last October, and Dinosaur.........:surfweb:.........I'm sorry, what was I saying?

I do have to throw in a gratuitous picture of DH2B and I riding PW - even though it's just about the worst ride we've ever been on, it might just be one of my favorite pictures of the two of us. Ever.

(Don't mind the odd spec in the left of the photo)

Fantabulous update and Patrick's pics were totally Root-worthy*. You're going to make me cry in your next update, aren't you? I will fortify myself with tissues. Sending love your way! DH and I are heading to SoCal to see the Pee-Wee show on the 5th. Looking forward to it!

*Up to the second you started posting actual Root pics! (Kidding, Jefe has mad snap skillz).

My condolences on your loss.

I have read all of your trip reports and they always crack me up! My DH and I are staying at the Boardwalk Villas for the the first time in May, we usually stay at Kidani. I may have to try that Peanut Butter cake. Yum!

I just recently read an article about Paul Reubens new project and I thought of your DH. (It is Paul Reubens right? I always think of him as PeeWee).

Can't wait for your next installment. :)

Tiffany

Fantastic updates and photos! You are making me fall in :lovestruc with Boardwalk. Loving all the pics. Never thought I wanted to stay there but now...

AK looks so pretty at night!

Looks like a fun dinner at Jiko! I stayed at AKL and I don't know that I found that little nook off the lobby. Now I need to go back!

 How sweet of Patrick to write a letter to your dad! Hope you are hanging in there! :goodvibes

So I'm staying at BCV for a night. I may have to wander over to the Boardwalk to try out that cake...

Loved the new update.......& it makes me kick myself for not insisting we go to evening EMH at AK on our October trip. Love all the pictures. It looks so pretty at night. Loved the funhouse mirror pics.......so cute.

LOVE the AKL pictures-Patrick's & the Roots. I soooo want that steak now. And you can totally tell you are blusing in the picture after you waving the stranger over. So cute.

Ready for more anytime.........

All caught up. Eating PB cake on your balcony in the world: Priceless. Too bad about the "cookie cutter" trees. You would think they would be differently lit at each park.

I'm one of the only people I know who like Primeval Whirl! But then it doesn't take much to entertain me. I like Dinosaur, but it is a less exciting version of Indy, my all-time favorite at DL!

Oh, and congrats to Patrick on the PW show! I'm glad the pre-work is done and that it turned out so well for him!

Thanks! And I'm glad to hear *someone* likes Primeval Whirl. :cutie:

Great report! Glad you are back! I can't ride Everst more than 2 times in a row or I don't feel so good after ride number 3. I have never been to Animal Kingdom at night, and it looks awesome since there are not many people there!

Yes! It's very romantic at night, especially on the deserted trails near the Tree of Life... until "It's Tough to Be a Bug" lets out, that is!

I love it. Great update!

Hey, thanks! :flower3:

: That's my favorite public place in all of WDW!

You have great taste! :teeth:

Love it! I think you surpassed "pretty good" :). That is so Joe's basement! I love all of the nightime pictures at AK. Actually, I loved all of the pictures!

I will let Patrick know! I think he really had fun night-shooting at AK for the first time.

I think the frog may have left Disney - on this weeks Podcast Teresa said she kept being attacked by a frog - sounds suspiciously similar to me ;)

:lmao: That's hilarious! Oh, and, yes, AK felt very peaceful and quiet at night. Really lovely!

Just spotted Patrick has the pin I need. The height restriction one - I have all the others. Does he collect specific pins (DH goes for Stitch and weird Mickey ones (like Pluto dressed as Mickey) and Mickey dressed in costumes.

Great pins! That height-restriction one was the first one he saw of that set, and when he learned the concept behind the set - little details from all the parks - he had to get the whole thing. My fave one is what we call "No Bad Dancing" - i.e., the ride safety sign that tells you not to stand up in your seat. :rotfl: Patrick basically just collects whatever strikes his fancy. He does like the Vinylmation pins especially, though.

Great update! I've always wanted to see Animal Kingdom at night. We've just never made it over there! Maybe our next trip.

I hope you can - it really does feel like a different place!

I am so sorry to hear about your Dad. I know you must be going through a lot right now and it is incredible that you are still entertaining us with your updates. Thank you.

Welcome out of lurkdom! :wave2: You are so kind to say that. I do think writing this trip report is a nice break from the heavy stuff going on right now.

I love anything with peanut butter and chocolate and especially something with cake, but I always seem to forget to wander to the Boardwalk Bakery to try that cake. I must make it there on one trip because it looks so yummy

The birds in the trees at AK are pretty cool, aren't they! We saw them on our trip last year. I'm shocked you don't like Primeval Whirl. DH and I love it, we always squeal like little kids on it, lol. Although you do get whiplash on that thing sometimes!

Mine too! :thumbsup2 I think, with Primeval Whirl, we just don't care for that kind of coaster and the way it rides. The theming was pretty cute, though. I can imagine you guys riding it and squealing like little kids...

Ooh! If you get a cake, I hope you'll post a pic of it here. Wait... that would mean I would still be writing my TR in October... :scared: OK, how 'bout you PM me a pic? :cutie: And I really think you'll enjoy BoardWalk Inn. I am the type of person who doesn't mind paying for a nice hotel room because it's more than just a place to sleep for me. Of course, I still always gotta work the very best deal... :rolleyes1

I loved the AK after dark pictures. The one with the mirror where you were kissing Patrick was too cute. I liked your Roots mirror picture. Your ride pictures cracked me up, you both looked so calm. You made me smile with the "Joe Rhode's basement" comment.

Yeah, Patrick always looks so calm - even bored - in the ride pics. I don't get it! Maybe when he goes on a ride he concentrates really hard?

But the last line....was.....very poignant. I am sure you must still be aching after finishing things up with your dad's estate. I can't imagine. I hope that in one of your updates you will write about him. I am certain he was a wonderful person. Probably as charismatic as you are.

You are so sweet! You know, I probably should write a bit about my dad. He was, of course, a huge part of who I am, but I've never really shared much about him.

I have never ridden EE! It is on my "must do" list for May. All arranged with a Dismeet at the Y&Y bar and ....then....off.....to .....EE! I can't wait. It is my dream to ride it at night!

Oh my goodness, you are going to have so much fun! Just don't get too liquored-up at the bar first! :lmao:

What type of software do the Roots use for their photography? Do they use photoshop, apeture? Just curious, because their photos are gorgeous. I don't ever expect to get that good, but I'd like to see how far I can get.

They use Photoshop! And apparently you can buy (and create) what they call "actions" in Photoshop that execute different series of editing steps to make photos look a certain way. So they have an arsenal of signature actions too.

Not that I don't love everything you've written in your most recent installment (like the PB cake, for example), but...

can you ask Patrick what type of tablet he uses for his computer? I have been looking at a few to make photo editing easier and just can't narrow them down.

Yes! He uses a Wacom Intuos 3 (Model #PTZ-930). I think it's the 15-inch one, so, pretty big. He won't edit without it - it's sooo much easier and more precise than using the mouse.

Sorry if this is a repeat because I didn't read all your comments. "Fake Santa" is a regular on the Disboards. You can find him on the camping boards and he has lots of great stories about the looks he gets. He did a trip report about this trip and if I remember right the above story was in it.

Yes! I still need to go over there and read his trippie. We also have a shot of him on Toy Story Mania taken by the Roots that he might like to see...

LOVE it! You look really adorable in this pic! ;)

Gawrsh, thanks! I think I look MORTIFIED!

Wow, your hubby took some really gorgeous photos! 2 Thanks for sharing them with us. I really love the photos of AK at night! Even if there's not much to do, I really wanna make it over there for an EMH night on our next trip - if for nothing else than to ride EE in the dark!

Totally! I prolly came down too hard on AK about the nothing-to-do aspect. That didn't bother us, and was a nice change of pace!

I toooootally agree with you about Primeval Whirl & Dinosaur. I think I still have bruises on my hips from our ride on PW last October, and Dinosaur.........:surfweb:.........I'm sorry, what was I saying?

:rotfl2:

I do have to throw in a gratuitous picture of DH2B and I riding PW - even though it's just about the worst ride we've ever been on, it might just be one of my favorite pictures of the two of us. Ever.

LOVE it! Love your expressions!

Hooray! I'm so glad you're gonna get to see it!

Great update!!!

That peanut butter cake is driving me crazy

Me too... me too..... >drool<

Thank you for your kind words! I also cannot think of Pee-Wee as anybody but Pee-wee. Even when I got to meet him, I prolly called him Pee-Wee to his face - I was kind of dazed. Patrick's mom's reaction to meeting him was to give him a HUGE hug!

Fantastic updates and photos! You are making me fall in :lovestruc with Boardwalk. Loving all the pics. Never thought I wanted to stay there but now...

 How sweet of Patrick to write a letter to your dad! Hope you are hanging in there!

Yes, thanks! I hope you get to try the BoardWalk sometime. It was a place I wasn't that interested in at first either.

So I'm staying at BCV for a night. I may have to wander over to the Boardwalk to try out that cake...

Definitely! And the walk totally burns off any calories you consume at the bakery. No, really.... :rolleyes1

Loved the new update.......& it makes me kick myself for not insisting we go to evening EMH at AK on our October trip.

You know, I almost cancelled it too, but I made us go to EMH cuz it was the only night during our whole trip that we could do it. Maybe I'm imagining it, but it seems like there aren't as many night EMHs there as at the other parks...?

Anyway - highly recommended! :thumbsup2
