A Very Lurkyloo Christmas is FINISHED! New 3/16: Last Day of the Trip!

Great start Carrie!

Your ringing endorsement of "Ok" on the Kouzzina soup is definitely better than Kevin's review on the podcast - LOL!

Love, love, love the Boardwalk! In fact, I think your photos have officially convinced me that I need to stay there!;)

And what is a Lurkyloo trip report without an attendance at an Illuminations wedding dessert party?! Pretty soon I think you are going to have attended more than the EP's themselves!:rotfl:

As usual, can't wait to read the next installment!:goodvibes

Carrie, so sorry about your dad!

I am super excited that you have started your trip report! Your room at the Boardwalk is just beautiful! So are all the pictures from the lobby and the little sitting area! It makes me want to stay there someday!

"Tarted up version of Spoodles" -- :lmao::rotfl::rotfl2:

The dessert party sounds like a lot of fun not to mention a prime spot to watch Illuminations!

Gorgeous photos as usual! I love it!

Don't feel so bad, we used a certain unnamed on-site rental agency, and it took an hour to stand in line and fill out the paperwork! This was at 12:30am!! We nicknamed our car too, it was "The Dolorian", because when we gunned it to 88, the car shook like it was entering a new time space continuum! So on top of being as slow as molasses, they gave us a crap box too! :rotfl:I can't really complain though, because I paid a next-to-nothing rate! :lmao:

Can't wait to read more! popcorn::

awesome update lovey! Boardwalk looks so pretty! I *reallllllllllly* want to stay there at some point! Glad to read your review of Kouzinna. I am also not an adventurous eater (although, my waist size may say something different:rolleyes1) The breakfast looks OK, but dinner just wasn't doing it for me..like you the cinnamon, and olives..and ugh fennel..no thanks!

Looking forward to what you have to say about breakfast though!

*HUGS*

This means the cross-country flight was a blazing 3 ½ hours long,
 :cool1: Sheesh, I've had flights from Tampa to Atlanta take longer than that!

The rooms have recently been remodeled, and they’re beautiful!

Wow, what a change for the better! :thumbsup2

The Verdict: Despite the celebrity-chef endorsement, Kouzzina is, as I’d suspected, just a tarted-up version of Spoodles.
Noted. Thanks for testing!

OK, wow, that took a long time to describe, and that was only about 1/3 of a day at Walt Disney World! Looks like this trip report will be another long one…
Yay! :)

The refurbished rooms look beautiful! :goodvibes

My bf has been over WDW trips pretty much after our first one :). Nothing went wrong he's just not into riding/seeing the same thing more than once. I'm hoping he'll have early memory loss so that when we go to WDW he'll forget that we were just there and every ride will be a first! :rotfl: He pretty much just goes to WDW now cause I love it (and I have to sit through many Red Sox games:rolleyes:) and promise lots of treats :lovestruc.

Can't wait to read more!! I'm all for the longest, most drawn out TR ever :cloud9:.

Awesome start Carrie! I will join in the "must now stay at Boardwalk Inn" group too! I can't get over how lovely those rooms are! And great Illuminations pics, that holiday ending ALWAYS makes me weep!

Looking forward to a long report! YEAH!!!

Hm. Now DH is even more interested in Boardwalk after seeing your room pics. Sheesh, that means I'll have to work some OT!

YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:woohoo::woohoo: and.... here's an extra

Anyway...I'm sooo glad you took those awesome pics of your room at Boardwalk because on our wedding trip, I was so pre-occupied with you know...wedding stuff, I totally forgot to take pictures!!

Sigh and I loved our room and our view too! I never wanted to stay at BW and we just picked it because of SBP, but it's way up there on our list of resorts to stay at now!

Anyway, so glad you started, sorry about Kat's restaurant.. :( I was hoping to hear good things about it.

Glad you made it to Rachel and Chauncey's DP! Whew! Speed Racers you guys are!

So, I have decided I need to get a new camera before our trip next year....I don't know if I can swing the camera you got DH, but what kinda camera youse got? LOL..

Also, DH has been asking me already about why can't we go somewhere else for vacation and we've only been to WDW 3 times in a year! But I promised him after the next two trips, we won't go for more than another year at least!

So I can totally sympathize with the whole "husband bored of WDW for now" thing going on in the Lurkyloo household.

So excited for Patrick's Pee Wee action going on! (oh crap, that doesn't sound right!):lmao: but you know what I mean...

ok one more  for now, can't wait to read and see more!! Am LOVING all the visuals so far!

I'm so glad you've started!!! :yay:

The Verdict: Despite what I’d heard from some well-meaning DISers, in our experience, using Hertz really does add at least 30 minutes to your airport getaway time vs. using an on-site rental car company.

Live and learn, right? :confused3

Beautiful!!! I so want to stay there someday!

Mmmm... :woohoo:

OK, wow, that took a long time to describe, and that was only about 1/3 of a day at Walt Disney World! Looks like this trip report will be another long one…

Fine with me!

Awesome start Carrie! Patrick did an amazing job with the new camera. I can't wait to see the rest of his pics!

BWV was never super high on list of "must-stays," but I think I'm going to move it much higher! Those rooms look AMAZING! And even your standard view is nice!

The only problem with staying there is that I might regret buying SSR. :lmao:

Sounds like a fabulous start! Can't wait to read more!

Carrie,

I just happened upon this report. I was so excited to see there was a new one. Your trip reports are always such interesting reads! I was very sorry to hear about your dad.

Looking forward to the next installment!

Carrie....loved your start on the trippie. I think my favorite part besides Danger Frog of course :lmao: was your conversation with the person at the rope at the Dessert Party. You have such a great sense of humor.

P.S. Eric is talking about maybe wanting to come back to California for his
40th birthday. I'll keep you posted.

I adore the rooms at the Boardwalk...
I really wish Kouzzina was getting better reviews :(

Me too! I was fully expecting it to be like Restaurant Marrakesh, which most people avoid cuz they think it's weird but the food is actually quite tasty. And maybe if we'd ordered the steak we woulda been like, "Hey, this place is quite tasty!" But if they can't even get their (vaguely) Greek food right.... :confused3

Yay! When you start a TR you really start a TR. You've got some great pictures there!

Thanks! I'll be sure to pass along the compliment!

DH and I have been 3 times in the past year and a half and halfway through our last trip, DH also told me he was getting tired of Disney World!!!! How is that possible?! You have to teach me how you convinced Patrick to go again so I can try! ;)

Boys are silly! :headache: What worked for me this time was the "new and different cuz it's Christmas" angle. Maybe it would work for you too?

Also, we were in the Candlelight "preferred" area with the rest of the herd for Illuminations, and I got so aggravated with the wall to wall people, we left thinking "oh whatever, we've seen Illuminations before."

Oh my gosh - me too! I was thoroughly unimpressed with that so-called "preferred" viewing area. Too crowded and way too far from America Gardens Theater if you're at the last showing of CP.

I am sooooooooo excited you started your TR! Absolute perfect beginning! Sorry you did not like the time it took for Hertz rental. I rented there once, eons ago, so I don't remember how long it took. I do know that thrifty (which is off site) is pretty fast.

That's a good tip! I think I heard that Hertz and Thrifty are coming onsite sometime in 2010, so hopefully they'll all be fast at some point.

Do tell! I'll be there in a few months, and I heard that they got rid of the amazing 50th anniversary show. Is there a better one now?

Wellllll.... OK, it's hard to live up to the 50th Anniversary show, but their Halloween show was pretty dang spectacular, and the same guy who designed it is doing the one that will be showing when you get here. :thumbsup2

Great start Carrie!

Your ringing endorsement of "Ok" on the Kouzzina soup is definitely better than Kevin's review on the podcast - LOL!

Tee hee! Yeah, it sounds like Kevin may not be a very adventurous eater, but I did agree with his points about the quality and quantity not being commensurate with the prices.

Carrie, so sorry about your dad!

Thank you so much!

:rotfl: That's hilarious!

*HUGS*

You are so funny! I didn't wanna mention it, but I'm not a huge fennel fan either. I hope you get to stay at the BoardWalk sometime - I think your kids would love the pool!

Noted. Thanks for testing!

Anytime! :thumbsup2

My bf has been over WDW trips pretty much after our first one :). Nothing went wrong he's just not into riding/seeing the same thing more than once. I'm hoping he'll have early memory loss so that when we go to WDW he'll forget that we were just there and every ride will be a first!

:rotfl2: I think that's exactly it with DH - he thinks it's the same stuff every time. And I have to admit, there were times when, say, we walked into Epcot for the fifth time in three days that I thought "So.... what's left to do here...?" Gulp! :guilty:

Awesome start Carrie! I will join in the "must now stay at Boardwalk Inn" group too! I can't get over how lovely those rooms are! And great Illuminations pics, that holiday ending ALWAYS makes me weep!

Looking forward to a long report! YEAH!!!

Thanks for reading along! I'm so glad to be able to share our experience at BoardWalk Inn - it's shot past almost every other Deluxe resort on our list now... maybe tied with Beach Club...

Hm. Now DH is even more interested in Boardwalk after seeing your room pics. Sheesh, that means I'll have to work some OT!

Or maybe you can take advantage of the killer deals they have going on right now - isn't there one with a gift card or something?

So, I have decided I need to get a new camera before our trip next year....I don't know if I can swing the camera you got DH, but what kinda camera youse got? LOL..

I got him a Sony DSC HX-1. The price is already coming down from what I paid, so maybe you can get a deal! Alternatively, they have some similar models with not as many bells and whistles for less dough.

Also, DH has been asking me already about why can't we go somewhere else for vacation and we've only been to WDW 3 times in a year! But I promised him after the next two trips, we won't go for more than another year at least!

That is hysterical! :lmao: I dunno about Eoghan, but Patrick is mostly hung up on the idea that we are wasting money on WDW that could be spent on Tokyo DisneySea - and I totally see his point, but I say we should be able to go to BOTH! :teeth:

I'm so glad you've started!!! :yay:

And I am glad you're here to follow along! :goodvibes

Awesome start Carrie! Patrick did an amazing job with the new camera. I can't wait to see the rest of his pics!

I'll be sure to pass along the compliment! It's really becoming quite a hobby for him, and I'm so proud of him.

BWV was never super high on list of "must-stays," but I think I'm going to move it much higher! Those rooms look AMAZING! And even your standard view is nice!

And you know they've just done over the DVC rooms at BoardWalk too, right? They don't have as many amenities, but they are quite good-looking. Maybe you can use your SSR points there!

Carrie,

I just happened upon this report. I was so excited to see there was a new one. Your trip reports are always such interesting reads! I was very sorry to hear about your dad.

Looking forward to the next installment!

Glad you found the trippie - and thanks for the kind words about my dad.

P.S. Eric is talking about maybe wanting to come back to California for his
40th birthday. I'll keep you posted.

Hi! :wave2: Oh boy - I hope Eric keeps talking. That would be great! When is the big day? Our new World of Color show is s'posed to open in April; you guys could stay at the Villas @ the Grand Californian and see it from the roof - or your room!

Yay--you started!!! :yay: Wow, your room at the Boardwalk looks so nice -- I hope to stay there soon.

I hope you get a chance to - it's just so nice. :cloud9: Thanks for following along!

Love it! Cannot wait for the next installment:)
Keep writing, you are one of the BEST TR writers.

Boys are silly! :headache: What worked for me this time was the "new and different cuz it's Christmas" angle. Maybe it would work for you too?

Oh my gosh - me too! I was thoroughly unimpressed with that so-called "preferred" viewing area. Too crowded and way too far from America Gardens Theater if you're at the last showing of CP.

Yea I think I have to start working on that Easter angle :scratchin

I can't wait to read what you have to say about the CP Illuminations seating. I'm sure we had a similar experience but yours will be more hilarious to read about. We were at the last CP seating and our run from America Gardens to the "preferred" viewing was expletive-laced to say the least. And then once we got to the spot and saw what we ran for.... Oh man, you didn't want to be around me:lmao: Keep in mind this was on Christmas eve :crowded:

Why, thank you! And may I say that you are one of the BEST TR reply-ers! :teeth:

Oh my goodness - I think you and I are kindred Disney curmudgeons! :lmao: That was exactly my reaction when we did the same thing. Here I had been theorizing that they would have separate viewing areas for people from each of the three showings, with the area for the last showing being someplace closer to America Gardens Theater for convenience. But nooooooo! And to think that we had all paid *more* for our dinners to see that last showing, yet we had the farthest to go. :headache:
