Wait, just saw this on another site. $179?!? Holy moly!!

Sounds like it would be a great tour to take during the holidays, but $179?! :faint: For that price, I think I'd rather take the Backstage Magic tour. I'd be interested to see if this one includes the same amenities as the Backstage Magic such as lunch, "free" bottled water and a private bus taking you around to each park. :santa:

Remember what happened to me... the dessert party extension was announced, and it was sold out hours after.

But also remember that several people on the dessert party thread called every day and managed to get their date through persistence.

I thought I'd call repeatedly, but I only called twice. I'm going to try the twenty-four hour cancellation/walk-up period instead of wasting long distance.

Just keep calling, and you'll get the date.

Ooh - you know, I bet you'll get in. From what I've read, they only pre-sell half the seats and leave the rest for walk up. I sure hope you get in, b/c I want you to come back here and post lots and lots of pictures!!! :hyper:

As long as you don't trample a child, you're golden!

:rotfl2: Words to live by.... Yes, guess I'd rather pay for good desserts than get "free" bad ones. I am just trying not to think about the fact that you have to pay that $24 for desserts on top of $54 to get into the party.... :sad2:

Just read about Wishes Party being extended and jsut got off the phone with Dining. Mine said the WP is *not* on MVMCP nights since the fireworks will not be going off.

However, the non MVMCP night that I wanted showed no availability. How's that for being confuzzled? :lmao:

I hope that one of these times when you call back, you hear what you're hoping to hear! :thumbsup2 I called back again today thinking I could switch to the Sunday dessert party (b/c I forgot it was an MVMCP ngiht... :headache:) and was told the same thing I heard last time: Only on MVMCP nights....

Yeah, I'd be worried about that too. I wonder if they don't care though? I would call and ask if that's possible (just like in the "old days" of MVMCP it wasn't common knowledge that they let you in without park admission around 4 p.m. and people would get all worked up discussing it on the DIS. Now, that it's common knowledge it seems like it's ok (not that I do that, only because I don't think I've spent a solid 8 hours at any WDW park in my life!). It may be a thing where they'd rather have you in the park spending money than not (but then if a clueless CM tells you it's ok and you're at the park and the CM says it's not ok...).

That's an interesting point.... there do seem to be DIS stigmas about things. When I called again today, the woman I spoke to actually asked her supervisor and was told that we'd have to have MVMCP admission. I just can't believe the price gouging! I would think that they'd get a lot more takers if they held the DPs on nights when you didn't have to pay extra to be there, but obviously, by the way these things are selling out, they've found plenty of people willing to shell out.

Oh, and don't worry about getting a good spot on Main Street. It's crowded but not too crowded where you can't find a good spot to watch Holiday Wishes (even at the last minute). We've never staked out spots before.

YAY!!! That makes me :cloud9:

Carrie after I saw your post last night I immediatley got on the phone with dinig to book the DP for DF and I and I got the night we are doing MVMCP (17th) but I also found this out. They ARE only doing it on MVMCP nights and you have to check in with your confirmation or hotel information to get into the DP cause I asked how will they know I paid since there are no tickets. So, I don't think your plan would have worked. :confused3

Thanks for the tip! I'm so glad you were able to get into the DP while you're there! :goodvibes

I will tell you though DF and I are actually now thinking about cancelling it. This will be our very first one and we don't want to miss anything by being in the DP for an hour plus the added cost. :confused3 we are still thinking about it. I really tried for other nights but she said they either weren't doing it that night or they were booked. :headache:

Yep - you and I are of the same mind on that one. I think my strategy of spending 45 minutes at the party gorging on desserts and then dashing off to Main Street for the actual fireworks part is so crazy, it just might work! :rotfl: But PM me your cell number and I'll text you the results afterward. :thumbsup2

Ooh - thanks for that! I only found the abbreviated version of the info. I wish someone would review this before we go so I can see if it's worth it. Because, as Anne says....

So true - I never even thought of it that way. It sounds like a glorified Holiday Magic Tour at Backstage Magic prices. I mean, OK, it includes reserved seating at Candlelight Processional, which will run you at least $45/person if you book a dinner package. But all those other things, except the holiday shop backstage, we can see for free! Hmmmm... :scratchin

I did end up calling back later and I got a nice CM, but it took over 15 minutes to figure out what the system was doing, including hr being amazed it was sold out. She double-checked th system and checked with her supervisor and yes, indeedy, there is a WP on a non-MVMCP night. She was shockd that it was sold out, she keep on sayingover and over "..but we only got the memo yesterday!...this can't be right!". :rotfl:

YAY! I found another report from Lurkyloo!!!!

I don't know if I'm late to post this, but here it is...It was my wedding cake! It looks black but it was brown....

You maybe think, a part of being my Wedding Cake what is so special about it?....Look a little closer....Did you notice whom were the bride and groom?

That is sooo great!:goodvibes

Congrats for getting the adrs you wanted!

And I love the little turtle cupcake!

Well everyone, today I received something almost as good as Mickey mail---Carrie mail! :yay:

My long awaited 100th Twitter follower prize showed up. What most coveted D23 souvenier did I receive, you ask?

An official D23 Expo Mickey pin!!

(please excuse the quality of the picture, it's from my iPHONE)

photo-763119.jpg

I just wanted to show it off and also thank Carrie very much for the wonderful prize. I love it! :woohoo: And contrary to what your note states, I will not be trading it to some random pin trader in DTD---it will stay forever in my collection!!

To anyone who second-guesses whether to enter an official Lurkyloo contest, my one word of advice is DON'T. Don't enter, that is. More stuff for me!!! :hyper: :hyper: :hyper:

Aw man -well I hope at some point you are able to book one for your trip!

I just added you to my twitter list so I can follow you :)

Cool! I will try to Tweet only scintillating things.... :cutie:

Sorry, in my flurry of excitement I forgot to post that:

Holiday D-Lights Tour

Thanks for this! :thumbsup2

 I'm so glad you like it! I was bummed that they didn't have anything as wacky as a flashing bouncy eyeball - the D23 Expo Dream Store was 7/8ths stuff you can find at any Disney Store and 1/8th overpriced and over-thought D23 merchandise. But I figured a colorful pin might suit you. :goodvibes

So Carrie,

I have a very serious question for you.

What do you prefer for your live reports---Twitter or live blogging?

Here's the thing. I like the idea of Twitter because as someone who has no self edit, it keeps things short and sweet. I don't like that you have to do a separate picture upload on TwitPic and then your viewers have to click a separate link to see said picture.

With live blogging, I like that I take a picture, e-mail it to my special address and it posts automatically. The picture is right there to be viewed by all, but I can see some entries getting a little lengthy.

So, since you are such a pro at the live reports---which do you prefer and why?

Oooh... that's a tough one. As verbose as I am, the Twitter character limit puts a cramp in my style more often than not... but fewer people know about/read my blog so I feel like I have to do both.

I guess I prefer the format of the blog because it's picture and headline right there, but when it comes down to it, Twitter is easier to do on the fly - just one email with picture and headline to Twitpic, vs. sending an email to iPhoneSlide, getting a reply email, then clicking an upload link. (Sometimes I even forget to follow up and click the link :guilty:)

You know you don't have to do all of that with the blog---right? All you have to do is take the picture, view it in your camera roll and select to e-mail it, and then you e-mail it to a secret address that you set up on your blogger.com page. As soon as it gets e-mailed, it automatically loads onto your blog. :thumbsup2

Log into blogger. Go to "settings" and then to "e-mail and mobile." After that, add your iPHONE, pick your "secret word" for your e-mail posting address and presto---you're done!

After that, like I said, all you need to do is e-mail the picture to your secret e-mail posting address and it automatically publishes the blog entry.

Not much harder than Twitter now, is it?? ;)

:sad2: And here I thought I was sooooooo sophisticated using iPhoneSlide as an intermediary all this time.

Now riddle me this, Ms. Smartypants: Is there a simple one-click way to post pix to the DIS - hmmmmm.....? :cutie: Because if that were easy, I could just post my live blog in my pre-trip report!

Now that I do not know. I wish there was, but if one exists I'm unaware of it, unfortunately. :headache:

Oh thanks for that annnewjerz..........that helps me for my upcoming blog too!!!! Less steps are always good.

Well, Carrie. I'm not sure if you are stalking the "Wishes Dessert Party" threads on the restaurant board like I have---but they just opened up non-MVMCP dates. :santa:

I didn't know if you were 100% decided on attending MVMCP or not, but I called about an hour ago and was able to get the day before your party date when the MK is having evening EMH.

Now I just have to decide whether we eat desserts for dinner, or eat just dinner and stuff ourselves with buffet desserts at the party. Decisions decisions! :rolleyes1

Whoa - thanks for the heads up!

Now I don't know WHAT to do! If I change it to the night you're going, I have to move our Candlelight Processional dinner package (if that's even possible). I thought about doing it Saturday night, but then we'd be rushing to get over to DHS for the DIS party afterward. And basically all the rest of the nights of our trip are MVMCP nights - ACK! ACK! (where's the Bill the Cat smiley when you need it?) :scared:

Oh wait - no, there's one Wednesday night we could do it, but we were going to try out AK EMH cuz we've never been in AK at night.... Ack, I say - ACK!
