A Very Lurkyloo Christmas is FINISHED! New 3/16: Last Day of the Trip!

OK, so today I was editing the latest PassPorter e-book and got to the restaurant section (and started getting hungry!), and it got me thinking about our ADRs.

I thought DH might enjoy this newish package they have where you get free reserved seating for the Nemo show just for eating at Tusker House between 1pm and 1:40pm, so I set aside my loathing for buffets and made a reservation. To be honest, I thought our meal at Boma when we were on free dining last September was pretty dang good considering it was a buffet, and since Tusker House serves basically the same stuff, I'll bet we'll really enjoy it!

Setting aside my loathing for wasting time in a show at a Dinsey theme park is another matter entirely, but if I'm gonna do it, at least it'll be for one of the best shows! :lmao:

In other news, I tried modifying some of our other reservations from two people to four people so the Roots could join us and got nowhere fast. The only way to change them would have been to eat hours earlier or later :headache: I guess places are already booking up cuz of free dining. I'll have to keep trying with the online system til someone cancels...

I'm glad to hear someone else isn't really into the shows. I haven't ever seen Nemo (or really any other show, except for the Indiana Jones thing in MGM/DHS/whatever), but another DISer swears to me that if I take the time to see Nemo I'll really enjoy it and not care that I missed out on rides. I find that highly doubtful, but I might have to give it a shot. Maybe.

I'm so disappointed that the restaurants are filling up so quickly. I don't mind having to deal with crowded restaurants, but I hope that's the only place the crowds are instead of FD impacting the crowds at the park also. :headache: Good luck with changing the ressie from 2 to 4, I'm sure something will open up. What are you looking for?

We really enjoyed the Nemo show, but we like most of the shows at Disney. So sorry to hear about the trouble with the dining modifications. I hope that gets straightened out. You always seem to have such a great time with the Roots, they are great people and the pictures, they are fantastic!!

P.S. Follow @lurkyloo on Twitter today for live updates from The Lurkyloos' patented Disneyfied Tour o' L.A. as we show DISer cdotla around our hometown!:banana::banana:

Yeah, it could just be that everybody's made tons of ADRs to start with and will be canceling and moving them around as much as we DISers do. With persistence, I'm sure I'll be able to tweak stuff enough. The biggie is our California Grill ressie at 7:20 on Sunday night. That's one restaurant I don't think you can just show up with extra guests and be accommodated. So far the only other options are 6pm and 9pm. I wouldn't mind 6pm, but I wanted to be able to stay at the MK til closing at 7 and then scoot right over to dinner.

Thanks for the perspective! :goodvibes You're right - we *do* have a great time with the Roots, and we're gonna have a ton of fun no matter what time our ADRs are for.

Carrie good luck with changing the ressie's. I was trying to do some the other day when I was doing all that rearranging and there was nothing available. No matter what you will have a great time with the Roots even if you have to eat a little ealier or later. Hoping it works out for you!

...is makin' me hungry - ok.....gotta ask the "Goofy" question of the day. Would you recommend attending at GF the Park Faire??
I have never been to it, love to interact with the characters but what about the food??:confused3.

Anywho - love following your TR and looking forward to more.:cloud9:

CYA -

We did the Tusker House/Nemo combo back in April when we were there during Spring Break. Granted, we were there during one of the busiest, (if not THE busiest) times of the year, so getting two birds killed with one stone (food + guaranteed viewing of the show) meant a lot to us. I've never eaten at Boma, but we really liked Tusker House. The only problem we had at all was that we had time to kill between lunch and the show so my son dragged my mom and I on Kali...without ponchos... Needless to say we all got drenched and then had to go sit in the air conditioned theater. But, it was nice to be able to sit so close to the front. We just tried to not let our teeth chattering interrupt the show!

Thanks! I hope it works out for both of us - I know we're so persistent, we'll prolly both end up with exactly what we want! :goodvibes

That's a good question. I don't really care for Disney's buffet food or character meals, so I have never done 1900 Park Fare. However, I think people who like character meals say it's a good one to go to because they have some characters you can't find elsewhere (Cinderella's Stepmother and Stepsisters), and I've heard the food has more variety. So you might like it!

Ooh - thanks so much for sharing your experience! So where is the reserved seating section? I'm glad to hear it's close - poor DH was the last guy let into the theater the time he saw Nemo, so he got a really bad seat.

Holy crap! A lurkyloo PTR, and I'm 42 pages behind! I have a sleeping newborn in my arms right now, and I need to catch some ZZZZs myself, but you better believe that I'll be catching up soon enough! I just wanted to let you know you have another one along for the ride! :worship:

Hi! You had your little girl - how exciting!!! Please don't let these 42 pages keep you from getting the sleep you need! :goodvibes

The seats we had were down front on the right hand side of the stage. I will try and find a picture to post.

Sorry it's so huge...I'm still new to this stuff!

Oh wow, those are great seats! Thanks so much for digging up a picture - that totally helps!

Hello Lurkyloo! I'm coming out of the state of lurkiness to say "hi"! I have enjoyed reading your reports, they are entertaining and informative. I have not read all of this one, but plan to get on the ball to do it. It's exciting that you are coming in Dec. We just moved here 3 months ago and I am enjoying all FL has to offer. Although we hardly do anything but WDW, but that's ok with me. Maybe I'll bump into to you when you come :)

Hi! :wave2: You are sooooo lucky to be that close to WDW - I'd be just like you if we moved there and spend every waking moment at the parks!

I hope we run into each other at Christmas! :goodvibes

So, er, coming out of lurkdom to say that I love reading your TR's and am so so happy I found one where it's not completely done yet so I can follow along! Your wedding was absolutely gorgeous, and I hope that when I eventually get married, I'll be able to have a DFTW that's at least half as gorgeous as yours.

Anyway, I noticed that people were posting pics of cake as an 'entry fee', so here's mine :)

Marbled chocolate and peanut butter bundt cake with a chocolate and peanut butter glaze on top. I made it this morning, and it's sooo good. I love this cake :lovestruc:lovestruc You can tell how often I make it because of the chocolate stuck to the page in the cookbook :rotfl:

OOH! That looks and sounds yummy!! :thumbsup2

I forgot to add my own entry fee. Here's Caroline's birthday cake this year. I thought I had better pictures, but I must not have uploaded them to PB. The bottom layer was chocolate cake, and the top tier was strawberry. Both were really yummy!

To bring up a long dead subject, can y'all tell me more about TGM? I looked into it when I was catching up here, but I can't decide how "worth it" it is. How far in advance does he publish the least crowded parks info? In enough time to make ADRs? Is that the biggest benefit; to know which days to go to which parks?

What differences are there between going to WDW for Christmas theming, if you go before Thanksgiving as opposed to going after? I know there are more Christmas-y things happening after Thanksgiving, but I don't know what they are.

I think I had more questions, but memory is failing me now.

I hate I'm going to miss you, Carrie! You're a year too early! We'll be there around the first week of December next year. Our dates are a little up in the air, though. We definitely want to hit MVMCP, it's just a matter of picking a week. We bought into DVC recently :woohoo:, so it looks like the first week of December might be the best time. Isn't that when "every DVC'r on the planet" is there? Can't miss that meetup! :goodvibes

According to my half-cut-off ticker, today marks 1 year, 1 month, and 1 day til we leave for WDW, assuming we go on our earliest possible week. I doubt we go that week, but it's still fun to see that on the ticker! :goodvibes
