Glad to know the swing wont hurt him. He loves it, and so do I. We already have a bouncer thing for him to sit in when he is able to hold up his head well. I am looking forward to seeing him in that! Also I wouldn't mind trying one of those Jolly Jumpers that hang in the doorways or whatever and bounce. Apparently that was my favourite thing has a kid, so it would be nice to see if he likes it too.

You know Andrea, maybe it wouldn't hurt to give your Dr. a call. If Seth is having his gas issues on a daily basis maybe see if the Dr. thinks it would be a good idea to try soy now rather then wait until his next appt. I really don't see the harm in trying something new. But, then again, i'm not a Dr. either. I'm just thinking of Seth's comfort, and your sanity.

And the disposable bottle liners are great. As i mentioned last night, you get virtually no air, because the liner shrinks around the milk as the baby drinks. And they were so handy to take with you places.

Also, its nice to have the DIS here, so we can have at least SOME adult contact. Even though its Disney! Lol

It's so nice to be back and talking with you guys. I am taking the day off work today. Jon is at work, both the kids are still sleeping, so i am enjoying a cup of coffee and a quiet house for now. Except for the road crew outside tearing up our road. They are so noisy, and they start at 6:30 in the morning.:headache:

Chatty peeps!:rotfl: I could only go back a couple of pages :rolleyes1

Andrea, *TOTALLY* normal to feel that way. I remember feeling the same way. Also, I BF DD7 and hated to pump, so I really felt like she was attached to me, especially in the first few months where they need to eat all the time, and had no freedom. While I felt, somewhat unfairly, that DH had no lifestyle change and tons of freedom  You'll get through it  Have you checked out any local mom groups? Those helped me a lot, hanging with other moms in the same situation.

Be careful changing formulas without the dr's go......when we got Addy at 2mths....the other foster mom had tried 3 different formulas in 4 days & she was sick....sick....sick. Even switches in milk-based to another milk-based can cause problems.

I am still trying to figure out how I am going to feed him on the road and in the parks. It will be easy if he's drinking 6 ounces by then, cause i can measure the powder ahead of time, and when he's hungry, i can just pour water, shake and be good. But if he's still only drinking 5, then it's hard to measure the scoops to be exact. With the liner bottles, can formula keep longer?

That must feel nice to have a day off! Do you get monday off? Its a long weekend for us.

BF was just too much for me. I didn't like that feeling of being needed ALL the time. And pumping was a pain. I'd have to pump for 30 mins, then feed him for another 30. I was getting too overwhelmed by all that and was hating feedings. Plus, it hurts! I think the women who stick to it are very brave and tough! I haven't checked out any mom groups yet. Might be a good idea since I don't know anyone in town with young kids. My friend who has 2 kids who are 2 and 4 is two hours away, but we still chat on skype and text which helps a lot too.

That's why I did mention calling the Dr. first. Each child is different.

Right now we are mixing a days worth of bottles in a big tupperware shaker and just pouring bottles as we need them. If we got one of those lunch bags that are designed to keep things cool, do you think it would be ok to keep the formula in the container in the lunch bag while on the road? As long as it's kept out of the sun of course.

Hm, well I don't have much to add to the baby discussion,
But I am taking mental notes for when/if I becomes a mom! :thumbsup2

Good luck with everything Andrea! :goodvibes

If using powder I'd just mix as you need. If you have a bag/cooler that will keep the mixed cold that should be ok.

Thanks ladies! It feels so much better to know that I am not the only one that has these feelings! I hate feeling like I resent Dillon for going to work every day. It's getting a little easier this past week. I think I am just starting to get used to it all. Or at least I was until Dillon said he had to go away for a few days, lol.

Some alone time sounds like a good idea though. I briefly thought about going to the movie alone tonight when Dillon gets off work, but we were at Costco last night and ended up picking up one of their coupons. You get 2 admissions, 2 drinks and a large popcorn for $25. So we are both gonna try and go at some point this weekend. I am so thankful it's a long weekend! I am going to see if Dillon is up for doing all the feeds one night (since I do it all night every night during the week), so I can catch up on some much needed sleep before he goes away.

Laurie, we do have a baby swing and it works wonders when he is just being fussy. He usually has at least one nap in it a day, lol. But when he is in pain and pulling his knees up, etc, that's when he is hard to calm him down. Dillon has found this awesome thing on youtube called "The Happiest Baby On The Block" and it's a whole bunch of tips to help with calming and soothing gas, etc. So far it's helped us a lot when Seth is just going bonkers! The other night he was crying so bad, I had to get in my car and take a drive just to get a break! I think Dillon and I would have ripped each others heads off if I hadn't done that, lol. We get stressed at each other too much when that happens. But luckily those tips have been working! Now just to get the gas to slow down or stop. Hopefully the doctor suggests something like changing formula or bottles.

The movie sounds like just what the dr ordered.

Hey Andrea, I remember the baby swing being a huge help as well. They have a very calming effect on the baby. I had a battery operated one. So it would keep going and going. The ones you crank by hand are very noisy when you crank it and wakes the baby.

And I know how you feel saying your jealous of Dillon. I remember feeling like I was the one making all the sacrifices, not him. Jon was still going about his life, working and traveling and getting more sleep then me. At times I felt like I no longer had a life. You just kind of stopping doing the things you enjoy, because there doesn't seem to be time to do simple things like read or watch a movie. I loved taking care of my babies, but just felt like i had given up some of who i was. Does that make sense???:confused3

I loved the swing. Kacy was happiest in the swing than anywhere else. Kody didn't like the swing, I wanted to cry. I took me a while to find something to work with her. Loren liked the little bouncy seat. That was my best friend with him.

Howdy, Michele. How are you? I have been thinking about you all lately! I've missed you as well.

I am good. How are you? We got Kacy all registered in college and she starts two days after her brother and sister. I took Kody my 17 year old clothes shopping today. We went to a favorite store of hers Rue21 today. She loves the sales racks. She got 10 shirts, 2 pairs of shoes, 7 pairs of socks, make up and 2 hair decorations for $85 today. The girl is a shopping genius.

Well hi to Michele, lol.

Hi Miss Jessica!!

That makes total sense! I have been able to watch lots of movies so far, once I got past the idea that I'd have to do lots of pausing, lol. But reading seems too difficult right now, and I miss reading! But I know I will get into a good part of a book and just get disrupted, so I don't even bother. I am missing my reader though! It's just sitting there dead and lonely on the coffee table, lol. And it does seem like Dillon is getting the better end of the stick. Yeah I know he works long hours and is stressed sometimes, but at least he gets out of the house and away. Seth is usually an angel in the day at least. Most days anyways. It's usually around 9 or 10 in the evenings that he gets upset. Thank goodness Dillon is there to help me. And that's why I am afraid of him leaving for 3 days, lol. What if Seth gets really upset and I can't help him? I am sure I will be fine. I just need to get my mind prepared for it now.

The swing we have is battery operated. He is in it as we speak, lol. He loves it. It's not bad to have him in it too long is it? Once he is in and asleep, i usually just leave him until he wakes up. I just hope too much swinging isn't bad for him. Once he is asleep, I sometimes turn it off just in case. I was joking in Costco last night that we should stock up on C batteries. We are going to need them lots through the next few years. I remember all my toys as a kid needing C batteries, lol.

I buy batteries in bulk out to Costco. That is the way to go.

The twins lived in their swings & I actually had to replace them & get ones that would go to a bigger weight & they got to the point we had to get rid of them. Shy was able to stand up in the seat (not on the seat, but stretch her legs out to reach the floor) & then she'd move the swing around. They went thru withdrawels but they don't make swings for toddlers.

Some kids just need that constant motion....won't hurt them to be in them. When he gets a little bigger....get him the jumpy seats that are free standing. Addy would sit in her seat & jump until she fell asleep....it was so cute!!!

The stress feelings your having are from frustration of not knowing what's wrong & how to fix it. (I have that still with Michayla since she doesn't communicate vocally or signing or pointing) Just remember you're both doing the best you can & sometimes we just can't fix it!! Don't beat yourselfs up.

I'm jealous of Mike working......he gets to leave, speak to adults & get in the car & drive. I'm stuck at home, no car & no adults at home anymore. Totally normal to feel that way!

I still get really jealous of Scotty.

This is my silly bird. All the outdoor construction has her all worked up!

My Green Cheek used to love his nest. He would go to bed at night. He would tell me goodnight and crawl in for the night. In the morning I would uncover his cage and tell him good morning and he would stick his head out and say his good mornings before crawling out. My Sun Conure wouldn't go near hers.

Hm, well I don't have much to add to the baby discussion,
But I am taking mental notes for when/if I becomes a mom! :thumbsup2

Hi Jillian!!

Andrea, i would think maybe just keep some bottled water in the cooler bag and bring the can of formula, and mix as you go.

I loved that about the powder. I could carry it and bottled water. It was so convenient.

... I was responding to you saying hi to me int he first place, silly. Unless we want to continue this and make a game out of hi.

Hi, Michele.

Nah I think we have that covered. How are you?

I'm alright. Just got home from work and I'm suh-leepy. I need to clean up around here and pay some bills since I got paid today. It's funny how fast if disappears.

How are you?

Good Afternoon everyone....

So I am going to go for a swim in a little bit!!

We have a pool in our backyard but the entire time I've lived here it has not been swimable. I used to refer to it as the "swamp"

We finally got it cleaned up and it can now be swam in! Hubby and MIL went for a dip yesterday but I was taking a nap so this will be my first time. Then of course I will be going to sleep as I work the next 5 days in a row.
