Ooh, that costume sounds awesome! Do you have any photos of it?

I am good. A little depressed. Dillon has to do some travelling next week for his job and is going to be gone for 3 days. I have the option of going with him, but that might be a lot of work with Seth, plus we go on another long trip the week after! But I also don't know if I am ready to have 3 days of being by myself with Seth. Maybe if his gassyness wasn't getting him so upset all the time, but he is a handful the last week or so. Plus I always get a bit of anxiety when Dillon has to go away for any overnight stuff. But it's an extra $1200 just before Disneyland, so I should learn to suck it up, but I can't.

How are you?

I am okay.

Loren had terrible problems with gas. I used to have to give him this stuff I called baby beano. I don't remember what it was. He suffered and therefor so did I.

I know you will miss Dillon but in the long run the money will be nice.

We started Seth on a Gentlease formula that is supposed to help with gas, plus these drops called Ovol. And also been trying different things with feeding, burping, etc. Nothing really seems to help all that much. Lately we've been rubbing his back and belly and it's been helping him get the bubbles out, and so far it's working pretty good. But he just gets so upset it's really hard for both of us to deal with, let alone just me. But I will manage. That money would be really nice.

I am in the process of trying to book Seth in for a photo shoot from this lady that a friend knows. She is having a kids special next month, and it would be so nice to get some nice photos of Seth while he is little. I just hope she has some openings!

Andrea do you sit him up to feed him? That was something they had me try with Loren. Kody was on soy because no matter what formula I gave her she had problems.

Oh I hope you get that appointment.

We've just recently started sitting him up more when he eats. He's on about a 45 degree angle now, but maybe we should do even more? Maybe we might have to try a lactose free formula. But we will see what the dr says at his next appointment on the 11th.

Also he is almost impossible to burp. We try 3 different positions and we also try rubbing as well as patting. Nothing seems to work. If he would burp, it would probably help greatly!

Sorry you are having so many problems figuring out the right formula. Hopefully you are able to figure something out soon!

That is always best, a good dr can be wonderful.

Kacy was hard to burp. If I sat her up with my arm as support to get the best burps out of her. My mom used to lay her across her lap and always got a burp out of her.

Seth isn't a fan of laying across the lap for a burp. He gets pretty upset when I try it that way. We will keep trying different things to see what works. Or ask the Dr for advice when we go.

Poor guy.

No of course he doesn't. If it is a real problem can you at least call his dr to ask for advice?

We called the Alberta Health link the other night and she gave us some advice, which is what we have been trying. He seems to be a little better, but still pretty gassy. At least we know how to help a little bit now, but would still be nice if it would go away completely, or at least settle down more.

I had a rough time with Loren. It was Simethicone that I gave him. I slipped it into water or his formula. It is so hard when they can't tell you what is wrong.

Andrea: sit him straight up & start patting on his low back slowly moving all the way up......we always go "pat, pat, pat, pat, pat, pat, pat......Burp!" Usually 3 cycles of it worked on our hard to burp kiddos.

Another way is to put him really high up on your shoulder (his belly up on top) & pat his back. Sometimes they need the pressure on their belly to help get it out (of course sometimes you get more than you wanted.....lol)

What kind of bottle are you using?? Sometimes changing bottles helps. We really liked the Dr Brown bottles.....cut down on the air bubbles which also alleviated the sore tummies.

HI EVERYONE!!!! Just got back from karaoke & now heading to bed.......cya 2morrow!!

Thank you so much for the tips Laurie! We will give those burping methods a try for sure. We are open to any suggestions at this point!

We are using Avent bottles. It does sound like he sucks in a lot of air when he drinks, but we don't know what bottles to change to. I have heard Dr Browns is a good one, but I haven't been able to find them here in Canada. I've looked at Walmart and Toys R Us, but no dice. Not sure where else to look or if I should try Amazon or something. Just afraid to spend the money and it not work.

I'm surprised those 2 stores don't carry them....that's where I used to get them.

The Dr Brown has some funky parts to them that cut out a lot of the air bubbles.

If you could find it online & try a couple bottles (I think they sold them separate & in 3 packs) I think you'd be happy.

Of course if this ends up being a formula intolerance....nothing will help until the right formula is found.

I just found a pack of 3 on Amazon for $14. I am considering giving them a try. I have read a lot of good things about them. Wondering if I should get them now or wait until his Dr Appointment on the 11th to see if they want to try switching formula.

Hey Andrea, have you tried soy milk. I know when my son was a baby he would get terrible gas and draw his legs up in pain from it. And he was a fast bottle drinker, so he would suck in alot of air. The soy milk really helped alot. And maybe stop half way through feeding and burp him. If he will let you.

This may be advice you have already been given. If so, sorry to make you read it again.

I can totally relate to hating your husband being gone away on business. I remember when the kids were little and being overwhelmed doing it all. Even though when he was home I would still do most of the baby duties, it still was comforting to now he was there.

I remember when Bradley was born i went through a depressed spell. I loved him, but I just felt like my life had been turned upside down. And he was a baby that fussed and cried and never slept through the night. I remember feeling overwhelmed. It does get better, you just need to give it time. He will settle into a routine eventually.

I hope some of the things i said were helpful and maybe a little encouraging.

You are an awesome Mom Andrea, and don't forget it. And your going to DL!! I am so happy for you. And maybe a little jealous!

Oh, one more thing. The soy we used was a powder. I can't recall who made it. But, that's been almost 19 years ago, so i imagine alot has changed since i bought formula last.
