A vent and request for updates for headliners rides reopening this week...

It's official.

Disney just updated the calendar.

Soarin' over California is off the refurbs list, beginning today.

Space Mountain is still listed as "pending" on refurbishments list through April 24.

To be absolutely honest, if I had looked at the calendar and seen that BTMRR, SM, and Soarin were all scheduled to be down during my vacation, there is a good chance that I may have decided that going wasn't worth the money. Just seeing that BTMRR was down, had me questioning whether it was worth it or not because I LOVE that ride but I talked myself into it anyways. Now, like I said, if this had been a result of the man falling then I would understand but it's not, it's a result of a fine and that is just plain disappointing.

Even before the OSHA closings, we had already eliminated DL from our plans due to BTMRR being closed for long term refurbishment. Yes, it's THAT important. Now, with Space Mountain down, and Matterhorn supposed to close if and when Space reopens, I'm glad we alreadly decided to ditch DL.

Still planning DCA for May 8. I'm glad Soarin' has reopened but now I hear there are problems with California Screaming. If both of those aren't running smoothly by the time we go we'll probably chuck DCA as well.

Just not worth it to us if those headliners are closed.

I can't get over the love for BTMRR, our kids have no desire to do it again, when they heard it was going to down they were glad. I guess it is good that we all have different favourites, else we'd all be in one line!!

I'd pick it hands down over all the other coasters at DL/DCA! :)

My son agrees with you. Absolute favorite coaster and he's bummed that it's down this trip. Honestly, if it wasn't soooo long until it comes back we might have had to reschedule.

Have they ever been on it at night? That is my absolute favorite time to go on it. I've also been on it twice during fireworks and it was awesome and one of my most vivid memories of Disneyland as a child.

What exactly are they doing to BTMRR? I'm sure someone posted on it, but I skimmed and couldn't find the info? I love this ride, too. It's such a classic. Reminds me of going as a child.

They are replacing all the trucks throughout. It will follow the same path just new tracks. Heard they are redoing the trains as well. (Hopefully they aren't as bad as the new Matterhorn ones. Though I haven't gotten a chance to ride in the new trains yet, i heard they are horrible.)

And I heard that they are redoing the loading platform to make it more handicap accessible, Which I think is what started the whole shut down and they just figured they might as well upgrade the tracks as well.

I think you mean the new Matterhorn bobsleds. Those are pretty rough. Space Mounain ones are not so bad.

Slightly OT, but I've found that while rows 2 and 3 of the new Matterhorn bobsleds are a tight squeeze giving you a painful ride on the small of your back, if you sit in the first row of each bobsled with your legs crossed (the only row where there's enough room to do this), it's far more comfortable--almost like it used to be. I know it sounds odd, but it turned those new bobsleds from painful to really fun again for me. :cool1:

Oops. yea. Guess I've had Space on the brain too much with all these drama involving it. lol. I did mean Matterhorn.

Just edited it. My fingers type before my brain can think. lol

I'll take the hint. My bf is over 6 feet tall so I don't want him to suffer to bad for one of my favorite rides.

We are going May 22 and were very disappointed that Space Mt. and Soarin' were going to be closed but we weren't going to let that bring down our trip. We look at the Disneyland website and as of this morning they show that Space Mt. will be open in May as will Soarin' hopefully this is true but we will see.
But this might be wrong, hopefully not....it was showing that they would be closed for today. We are keeping our fingers crossed that they will be open and nothing else will be closed when we are there!!!

I am across the street waiting for son the CM to get off today at 3pm.Soaring is definitely open we rode it twice yesterday.Son was out front pulling his hair out.It was crazy busy..

no change in the refurb calendar for several days

Space Mountain ought to be back in operation Thursday

Hoping that everything is back up and running by the time we go in June! Flying from GA to CA, it's a first trip for my DH and 2 DD's. On that note, I see that Disney is starting to post park hours for June, but there is no Fantasmic listed...Is this normal, or does it have anything to do with the DOSH closures?
