08/02:

So we wake up at about 9 a.m. We slept in alittle because we were going to head to the HRH. We got up, got ready and had our last breakfast at the club lounge and were off. I was so excited. In just minutes I would be checking into the HRH!!!! This was the only Universal resort that I had not been to yet and I was just so estatic to be going!!!!! We arrive at the HRH, and a bellman got our luggage. They gave us a claim ticket and told us to check in but that our room would not be ready. We were checked in by Elizabeth. She was a little "eager" and seemed very rushed. After checking in, we headed to Universal Studios via the walkway. Elizabeth said they would call my cell when our room was ready. I said "Thanks" She said "Take it easy!" They all said that alot! Guess, it's part of the script. Anyway, once we arrived at the Studios, we stopped at the Boulangerie. DS did not eat and he wanted a chocolate chip cookie and a pretzel from the stand across the way. It's vacation! Sure, have a really healthy breakfast. DW and I had the tuna salad croissant, and ham and cheese croissant. Total bill $17.84. I also bought the refillable mug. There is a new sponge bob one for $4.99. It's a blue sports bottle, with Sponge Bob on the front. Very cool! It came in handy on this trip and we got unlimited refills for $1.34. Great deal! After the early lunch, we did Jimmy Neutron, Shrek, T2, Jaws, ET, and Curious George play area. We did all the attractions with FOTL, but it was packed. More so than last year. We still got in within 15 minutes or less on all attractions. It was now about 3 p.m. We decided to See Beetle Juice and we rode the mummy. Great ride. Loved it as usual, but the animatronic was not working the first time around. We did pictures with Sponge Bob, Jimmy Neutron, Angelica, Shrek and now Dora the Explorer is there. She was really cute. After some shopping, we headed to Citywalk and had dinner at NBA City. We had crab rangoon as an appetizer, DW had ribs, DS had chicken tenders and I had BBQ pizza. How I missed that pizza. It was great. Total bill with tip $62.10 After dinner we walked around Citywalk and I checked my messages. Serge from the HRH called around 2 p.m. to advise we were in room 6096 and it was ready. We headed to the hotel and went to the room. The view was awesome. We had a pool view and we could see both parks and Citywalk in the distance. It was great. After freshening up, we went back to Citywalk, we did some more shopping, we got some fossil watches and sat down to see the fireworks. Great view from Citywalk. We then went to our room, showered and relaxed. Tomorrow! IOA!!!!!

hi spidey

sounds like you guys have been having a busy few days-

soooo ....whats your verdict on the HRH- where do you place it out of the other 2 hotels? (RPR & PBH):scratchin

looking forward to reading more

thanks for taking the time to post- i know you must be tired after getting back from vacation

Thanx for the report, Sounds so good so far, I can never remember the name of that bakery in Universal Studios. I like the way that when the mummy amnitronic they place some projection system on in it's place. Look forward to more reports.

Thanks! Well as for the HRH. Would I stay there again? Yes, absolutely. It's a beautiful hotel and we loved our cabana day. (later trip report...coming soon, I promise!) Is it my favorite, no. I don't know if it's because I did it first, but I love the RPR. The rooms are smaller, but still top notch and the service can't be beat. The HRH did not live up to all the hype and my expectations. They were just "too cool" and the service was not on par with the other two resorts. So as far as favorites, it goes like this:

RPR
HRH
PBH

I did like the way they worked around the animatronic as well on the Mummy!

More coming soon!

Spidey...love reading your reports...can't wait to hear what you think of the hardrock...since you have stayed at all 3 resorts to get your veiw of them....::yes:: amy

Hiya again...I could tell when I was reading that you were a bit disappointed. It does sound like the HRH has changed a bit since we were there 2 years ago. I'm glad we are going to the RPR now! What did you son think of the pool/slide though.....did he prefer the pool or do you think he liked the RPR pool best with the ferryboat to play on?

Thanx for another great report Spidey !!!

Loving your reports by the way. You rated the hotels RPH, HRH, then PBH. We have only stayed at PBH. You said the service was better at the other hotels. So what I like to know is why you like HRH better than PBH. We are returning for 4 nights tail end of June /beg. July and are trying to decide whether or not to do PBH again. Thanks.

Hi Spidey! Am avidly reading your trip reports, and I CAN'T WAIT to see photos!!

Thanks everyone. Sel, we loved HRH, but it just wasn't what I expected. As far as the pools, we love both pools, but the HRH pool was more happening all the time. Lots of fun. RPR is great too! DS loved the slide.

It really does sound like the HRH is not soooo great anymore. The "kitchen" before it was called the kitchen was a really nice place to eat (apart from being a bit expensive).

Overall though I can tell you've had a lovely holiday. The meal at confisco's not so good for dinner. I think we'll do the character breakfast too.......did you pre-book for this or do you think that once we are over there, we will be able to arrange a date over our 2 week stay?

Your reports were a great read Spidey!:D

Spidey, didn't you just love the laid-back atmosphere at the HRH? I wish I was back there right now! Thanks for sharing.

You willl be very happy with PBH. It was wonderful. Just a little boring at the pool area. The HRH was awesome but service was not as good as PBH and RPR.

I prebooked our breakfast before we got there. I would definitely recommend that if you definitely want to do it.

Glad to hear you had a great view. We were in 6090 on our last trip to HRH and thought it was the best. I'm sure 6096 is very similar in terms of view.
