A Two Short, Too Different Spring Break Trip (Time to Say Goodbye)

0606091050.jpg

Aww, he is so cute!! My son, Carter, is 10 months--I am so enjoying his new found independence with crawling and being able to give himself a bottle. He is very close to walking, but that just means chasing him even more!! What part of Northern Ohio are you from? I live in Cincinnati, but I graduated from Mount Vernon Nazarene University (college when I graduated in 2000). I am very familar with the trek from Mansfield/Mt. Vernon to Columbus!

MeMom--Love all the updates, but you are giving me resort envy--first I wanted to stay at AKL and now CBR, hurry and post some pics of Pop, so I am excited that we are staying there!! :goodvibes By the way there is a path from Pop Century to CBR, it's really the CM parking lot, but you can cut through, DH runs from Pop to CBR on every vacation and no one has said a word. Walk straight out to the parking lot by the 50's buildings you'll come to an "intersection" with a road that goes down to a tunnel. The tunnel goes under the main entrance of Pop, by the security shack and comes out in the CM parking lot at CBR. When you come out of the tunnel, follow the parking lot around to the left and go around to the front of the CM building and the path to CBR will be straight ahead. The path comes out by Trinidad South. This is about a half mile walk, if you are brave enough to try it out NEXT MONTH!!!!

that breakfast at sunshine seasons looks good! ray and i ate breakfast there back in 2007 and it was yummy.

if you ever do decide to grow a garden my grandpa could give you lessons. he is MR. gardner and does a great job at it! my grandma's vegetable soup is the best i've ever tasted! they have a farm on highway 109 in gallatin and always have such a great garden.

HEy everybody. Checking in after a crazy weekend. I was sick on Thursday. Bella had her two month check up on Friday. Can you believe she is already two months? Time sure does fly. She is now 23 inches and 10 pounds. Still a little peanut. I can't believe people deliver babies as big as she is now that is crazy!!! John's sister came down with her family Thursday through today. That was an adventure! Her oldest just turned 4 in May and his behavior is horrible because he has no discipline. He went to church this morning with us. He went in Brooklynn's class with her and when I went out with Bella I could hear him screaming and yelling and the teachers saying "sit down." I couldn't do anything because I had the baby so I ended up getting his mom to go in there with about 5 minutes of class left. Then during service he left and wandered around the building with his dad following him. When we got in the car I asked Brooklynn how class was and she replied "Tucker was really bad. He was running and throwing things and he hit and kicked the teacher. And he was yelling!" I felt so bad that I apologized to the teachers tonight. At lunch he ran out of the restaurant into the parking lot while we were all still at the table. I am so glad they went home this afternoon. We will see them in just a few days though since we are headed to Ohio on Wednesday for John's little brother's wedding. If anybody has a prescription for Prozac can I borrow it? Brooklynn is the flower girl so I of course will be taking lots of pictures. Me and the girls are headed to MeMom's tomorrow to go to VBS.

MeMom I need a banana tree. I cannot for the life of me find any bananas that are not ripe in the groceries. Three trips, too ripe for us! I bet it would not like the cold of OHIO though!

Jill where are you headed in the fine Buckeye state this week?

Have fun at VBS... Hannah is going this week too!

Loved, loved your Soarin pics. That was Avery's favorite ride right after BTMR. First time I went I cried through the whole thing-born and raised in Southern Ca, college in Nothern Ca. I am all Ca LOL. It was just like going home. Awesome!
Also really liked Living the Land-have a cool double hidden Mickey pic for my TR.
Great update!

Those are two of my favorites, too - Soarin' and Big Thunder Mountain.

I want to do the Behind the Seeds Tour sometime before they do away with it, like so often happens.

I'll look forward to seeing the Hidden Mickey.

I love Living with the Land. It really is just a great ride and so neat what they do! It always inspires me to grow a garden too but it never happens. :lmao:

Me, too. I'd love to have a garden full of tomatoes, cucumbers, squash, onions, corn, potatoes, cabbage, cantaloupes, watermelon...I could go on, but since it will never happen, it's pointless.

I have never done Living with the Land. I think it looks like a lot of fun. :) We plan on doing the rush to Soarin' in the morning. I hope the kiddos and I don't get trampled or anything. ;)

Just tell everyone to hang on to each others' shirts and keep shuffling!

After you get off Soarin', you should try Living with the Land. It'll be a walk-on, and it is very interesting.

We had a great time....I went with the my neighbor, which is the same group I will be going to Disney with. The girls are 3 1/2 and 5mo. and they were SO good!!! Not that I really thought any different but I hadn't been around Rylee that much since she has gotten older and this was Katelyn's first trip :upsidedow. They did great in the car....on the beach....at the pool....in the evenings, it was very nice!

Thought about stopping by to say hi to Jill as we passed through N. AL :flower3:...but I did wave!

Maybe that's why the food at Disney is SO good!! They use all fresh stuff from the Land :thumbsup2

You should try the topsy turvey tomato plants. We have 2 of those this year and they seem to be doing really well!! I will keep you updated, but they are VERY easy!

That was good practice for the Disney trip, then!

Jill, did you sense Erica waving as she passed through?

I think Garden Grill uses a lot of the Land stuff, from what I have read.

Oh, you'll have to bring me a tomato (if you have one ripe) when you come to the Hippo Meet! :cool1:

Hmmm that Sunshine Seasons breakfast looks yummy. We've only had lunch there and the food is so much better than the typical theme park fare.

I like Living with the Land too. Its cool to know they actually use some of that stuff in the food at WDW. The only thing my BF and I were confused about was why they had alligators in there? :confused3

Sunshine Seasons is a great counter service option! We go there often.

If I do the Behind the Seeds Tour this summer, I'll see what it is they do with the gators.

Great updates, MeMom. CBR looks so nice. I'd love to visit the resort (or better yet, stay there!) some day. So nice that you were able to get a ride over there!

I loved your Soarin' pictures. If I could go to WDW right this minute and ride just one ride, it would be Soarin'. I just love it! I also enjoyed your Living with the Land photos. That ride is one that I wouldn't have thought I'd be all that crazy about, but I really liked it! So relaxing and interesting, too.

I've eaten both lunch and dinner at Sunshine Seasons, but never breakfast. I may have to try that next trip.

Looking forward to your next update!

I'm right there with you on the Soarin' thing. Love it!!!

The breakfast was okay, but about like what you'd get at Pop's food court. In my opinion, lunch/dinner food is better than the breakfast food.

Yummy breakfast plates!

I enjoyed the Living with the Land pics. My DMom loves that ride, she wishes she could copy some of thier ideas. :goodvibes

Vandyfan, glad you had a lovely time at the beach.

There seems to be a lot of wannabe gardeners around here!
That ride can inspire you, that's for sure.

I love the epcot opening its so intimate especially when you're up there! I havent been to it in a while I always seem to miss it, but maybe with my october trip ill make it!

You've gotta get up early, little girl! I guess you're always snoozing away in all of those awesome resorts you stay in! :)

I want to stay in every resort eventually. I want to stay in Wilderness Lodge, Animal Kingdom Lodge, Polynesian, Old Key West... All of those are on my list!

I will try to find that path during the daytime with someone else with me. I'd love to walk it! I've read that you could walk over, but that you had to go across a road you weren't really supposed to be on, so I've never sought it out. If it's legal, I want to find it, but I think I would be a little scared to do it alone in the dark hours of the morning. I'm putting it on my ever-growing list of things to do in July.

I'm going to head out to 109 and see Grandpa and Grandma! Tell him if he sees a lady with a basket milling around in his garden, it's me!

Me and the girls are headed to MeMom's tomorrow to go to VBS.

See you this afternoon!

I'm not sure a banana tree would make it here, either, but I need one. I get the greenest ones I can, and I have to go every other day to keep them stocked. Trent and his friends eat several a day, and I usually eat one about every other day. Drew will chop one up in cereal occasionally, but he doesn't devour them like they do. Drew and his buddies are more likely to eat their weight in potato chips, and those things are expensive! I need a potato chip tree!

Have fun at VBS!

Ahh, even your pictures of the CBR pool in the early morning are relaxing. Thanks for taking them and well as the Soarin pictures. I love some Soarin'. Pass a little Pixie dust please for Ian to grow just a smidgen in the next week. He is ever so close to the 40" cut off.

Memom, it sounds exciting to be in a mass of people all trying to get to one place. One day I am going to have to give that a try. We actually made it to MK before it opened but we stood out and watched the show so we didn't get into all the crowds of people standing at ropes. Thanks for the soaring pictures.

Jill, it sounds like you had quite a weekend. I have a little boy in my Bible class that sometimes acts like that. It is a hard thing to deal with. I love him, but he sometimes makes me dread Sunday. I am glad you made it through. I know Brooklynn will be a great flower girl.

I'm going to head out to 109 and see Grandpa and Grandma! Tell him if he sees a lady with a basket milling around in his garden, it's me!

they'd welcome you! they are the friendliest people you'll ever meet. i strive to be like them. honestly my grandparents are the reason i was such a good kid. i mean, i occasionally got into trouble but nothing major because i didn't want to disappont my grandmother! :goodvibes

so do we know the details of the hippo meet on the 20th? the reason i ask is i found out that my brother's only day off is saturday with his new job and of course i want to see him and margot. i don't think it'll be a problem to do the hippo meet but i just want to know when i need to be there so i can plan around it.

I hope you decide to do the 'Behind the seeds tour'. I want to send my DMom on it as a surprize. Your opinion would be greatly appreciated. :flower3:

The tunnel from POP to CBR sounds very neat, maybe you can take an afternoon stroll when you take a break from the parks.

I'm finally back to work later this afternoon.... (me dancing cause I need to make some Disney $$$ and pay some bills too.)
I close tonight so it should be a nice transition back.

Enjoy the visit today.
Is it "Vera Bradley Sale" or "Vacation Bible School" :rotfl:
Either way have fun at VBS!

Brooklynn will make the sweetest little flower girl. Does she have a pretty white dress?
Be safe travelling to the wedding.

The breakfast at Sunshine Seasons looks yummy! Mum and I ate there loads in November, we loved it for the huge variety and also its all really good food!

When is your next trip MeMom? I have been trying hard to persuade hubby to take Toby and I this year... I thought I had just about won him over on a late September trip then my Mum piped up and said it was hurricane season so we forgot that idea :sad2:

I just want to go back now!!!

Sorry I've been AWOL. My parents were in town this weekend and we had our first kid-free weekend together since before Doug was born. we spent a lovey 3 days in Louisville together. It was so nice to have the hubby to myself for a while!

Loving the pics from the Land - both Soaring and Living with the Land! If you go on the Behind the Seeds tour, you DO get to try some of the cucumber. It was quite tasty, if I remember correctly. We found the tour to be very cool and well worth the cost.

Jill, I'll be sure to wave as you are driving by this weekend. Is Tucker a ring bearer?

Yep Tucker is the ring bearer. It should be interesting.

We are headed to Mansfield and Ashland area.

After that, we went on Living with the Land.

I quite enjoy this ride, and it always makes me want to come back and grow a marvelous garden.

I never do.

People in Ancient Greece thought it to have special healing powers. It was a symbol of immortality.

I think it didn't work. As far as I know, they all died. :upsidedown

DH is plotting (no pun intended) a garden at our soon-to-be new home.....He tried to grow herbs once upon a time - they did not live happily ever after! :scared:

Memom, you crack me up! :rotfl:

Hi,

All caught up. I had 50 pages to read. Too much to comment on but great pics.

I should stay up to date more now that we are in fully and now just waiting for Europe.

I like seeing the pools so still and quiet in the mornings. The reflections of palm trees and other things on the still water make good pictures.

Brooklynn is right at the 39ish area, too. We figure she'll get by on some and she won't on others, so however that plays out, we'll just go with it.

She says she wants to ride Dinosaur. We'll see.

Yes, you need to do the Soarin' trot once. It's quite funny! You can't really understand it unless you've waited for nearly an hour to hold on to someone else's shirt trying not to lose them as you power walk with fourteen thousand other people toward a two minute activity.

The way you see your grandparents is the way I hope my grandchildren will see me.

I PMed tinkgurl to see what their plans are. I don't know if they are thinking RFC for lunch or dinner. When she answers, I'll let you know ASAP. If Brett's up for it, maybe you could bring Margot to the mall with you. She'll need a trip to the Disney Store, won't she? ;)

If we go, I will come back and give a thorough report. Jill mentioned leaving the girls with the guys and just she and I going. I'd like that, because we don't get to do anything together alone hardly ever. She also mentioned the backstage AK tour, which would be even cooler. If we can do that one, I'd love it, but if not, we may do Behind the Seeds.

I'm going to go with Vacation Bible School on the initials!

I will be finding the tunnel
In the daylight.
With someone else.
Probably Jill.
My partner in Disney crime, in case it ends up being illegal. :)

Brooklynn has a dress that she seems to think she is beautiful in.
She says she is going to be in a wed-din.

I just want to go back now!!!

We're going in July and then again in December, with the slightest chance of an October trip. I've got a fall break, so we've tossed around that idea, because our cousins are going at that time, and it would be a lot of fun to do some things with them. Jill has also talked about going on her birthday earlier in October, but I don't know if I'd be able to go on that one.

We totally know how you feel about wanting to go now!
You have a lot less chance of not having a hurricane than having one. It will be so fun to take Toby!

It's great that you and hubby got to have some free time together. I know that was very enjoyable.

I'm surprised at the reasonable price for Behind the Seeds, since most tours are so much more.

DH is plotting (no pun intended) a garden at our soon-to-be new home.....He tried to grow herbs once upon a time - they did not live happily ever after! :scared:

No green plant has ever lived happily ever after at my house.
I'm a plant mortuary.

As you go on 71 N past Kings Island... wave! We live around there... I hope the girls are good in the car ride for you and John.

They're breaking the trip up into little sections, so that should help everybody. Coming back, they're driving straight through, with the exception of stopping by here to pick up Ben, so that won't be much fun.

Hi,

All caught up. I had 50 pages to read. Too much to comment on but great pics.

Hey, Scott! I know moving has been a huge thing. It's good to hear that you are all settled in.

Make sure you wave to us too! We are Laura's neighbors. :goodvibes I hope the drive is uneventful and bible school is fun!
