A Two Short, Too Different Spring Break Trip (Time to Say Goodbye)

Glad you had a great trip. Go easy on those reports cards, make sure you go to your happy place while filling them out. ;)

I love Eeyore and his comments, what a great idea! :thumbsup2

Was that Crush on the ME bus? That is so neat!! Do they have new bus designs?

The book on the plane....is that the 2009 Complete Guide by Julie Neal or the 2008 edition?? I have the 2008 edition and I really want to buy the 2009 one but I am wondering if it's "worth" it....thoughts?

I absolutely love Eeyore and his signs! :thumbsup2 You're so creative MeMom. :goodvibes

I love Little People, Big World.

Okay, I am officially coming out my lurkdom! I have lurked on all of your previous TR's and I just love them! I do need to go back and re-read Baby and the Tramp again, DH and I took our 8 month old son, Carter to WDW in January when he was 5 months old and he didn't do much but sleep in his stroller. We are going back in Sept and Carter will be 13 months old, I think it will be a MUCH different trip, I'm hoping to get some tips from when Brooklynn was a baby. :)

MeMom, you and Jill are so lucky to be able to vacation together, Stephen (DH), Carter and I go to WDW 2-3 times a year and my parents usually go at least once a year with us. I love our trips with Mom and Dad, it's just nice being together with them on a daily basis, it's almost like being home again. :goodvibes

Anyway, I love your TR's and I promise not to lurke anymore. Can't wait to hear all about your trip with Kay. Oh, we    the Pop too!!

Krista

Safari sounds awesome! Something educational for the kids and a little time to get report cards done. Good luck with the comments. That was the part that always took me forever.

When will you find out if you'll be able to change grades?

Although the trip was fun and Disney is an incredible place, it did confirm my thought that some degree of the magic is created by the people you share it with. It was still nowhere near what a trip with my family is like. It was great - the sights and sounds and aromas are all just the same, but just to a lesser degree of excitement.

It's hard to explain.

IThe friend trip was good, but family trips are still much gooder.
I mean, better.

Did any of that make sense to you?
If not, I advise you to run far away now while there is still time.
If you completely comprehend what I was saying, it is already too late.

Please make yourself at home on this report. This is our report - not just mine. I just throw out the pictures, and then you all join in and tell about what happened when you rode the same ride or how much you liked the same show or how wonderful the meal was when you ate at the same restaurant. This is our hang-out until July, so come in the back door, of course, take your shoes off, and make yourselves comfortable. Please do share your thoughts and pictures and ask your questions. It helps us all learn how to do Disney better! :)

:

Welcome Back Memom, glad to hear you had a great trip! Plus now you have a new grandbaby and a July trip to look forward to. :yay:

I so understand your comments about family trips, I have to travel quite a bit for work and often without my DH and/or kids and I find myself wishing that they were with me since it would make the moment so much better. When DH and I were riding the cable cars in SF in January, I so wanted to share the experience with the kids and see their reaction.

Thanks for the warm welcome as always.

Yay! It's another MeMom report. :cool1: I cannot tell you how much I enjoy your adventures to Disney especially since I will not be back there until 2010 which seems very, very far off right now.

Picture the way you are walking now, with your lame toe. That's how I walk through WDW a lot of the time with my knee and foot so bad. Not a lot of fun sometimes.

:sad1: good for you for continuing to hobble! i'm trying to walk normal but if i'm wearing a shoe i can't. it's just impossible.

Hey Memom -- i love the Eeyore idea. I think it is so cute.
Disney World is so special to me because it really does remind me of a special time with my family. Even when I am there by myself I still think of that first time.
I remember driving down from New York in my Aunt's car b/c my Mom's datsun hatchback had broken down the day before.
I was 10 years old... We did not have that much money back then. I just remember that special drive and all the great memories.
My parents were separated at the time, but I remember the pay phones in Epcot where I called my Dad. The only by the rest room near Figment and the ones by character connection. Every time I walk by I blow a kiss to the memory of my Dad.. Wow -- Did I just get emotional.
Enough about me... I cannot wait to hear more.

Have a good Day:goodvibes. Good luck with the report cards.

I look forward to the shopping pictures, with Eeyore.

I held back on the shopping pictures, because I felt like people may have gotten bored with all the shopping pictures last time, but I still got plenty.
Have I ever said before that they have so many cute bags??? :) They had even more new ones this time. I wanted to buy them all!

it feels like home...comfortable, where you can share.

I love the Eeyore! Does Kay like to remain "hidden" too?

Kay does a bit better than I do for pictures. She doesn't like them, but she doesn't fight them to the death like I do.

I did put in two or three Hidden MeMom pictures in the mix, though.

Aww, I missed your daily reports. I'm so happy you have started, despite ALL the many things you have to do.

Eeyore's comments make me smile. What a cute idea. :eeyore:

I can completely understand what you felt about going with your friend instead of with family.
We have all attached our memories to our families.
I have debated about going on a solo trip but I think I would get too sentimental without my family.
Disney is so much more fun when you are with the people you love.
Seeing thier enjoyment and experiencing new things together, is the best.
It's a time when we are all together and not doing our own things. :grouphug:

I know I'll miss my DS, like you missed Brooklynn. I'll be thinking he would like that or his favorite ride is this. I will feel like something is missing.

I get sad thinking this may be the last trip with Aaron, as he isn't as Disneyfied as us three girls are. It's not that he doesn't like WDW alot, he does. He just gets bored shopping, standing in line for characters and going on rides like "Its a Small World". (no, I don't make him but, he doesn't like standing alone) ;)

It's a shame we couldn't round up a friend for him to hang out with, I think he would have more fun at this age (15).

He is currently back on the..."I want to stay home in August with my friends and you guys go without me". I feel so torn, part of me wants to be selfish and make him go. The other part just wants him to be happy.

This would be the first family vacation without him, I would miss him so much. :sad2:

Sorry to rant on, have a Terrific Tuesday!

Drew's friend, Sam, has gone with us twice. It makes it much more enjoyable for Drew, because he likes to do things other than just Disney. He likes to venture out into Orlando, too, so it's nice for him to have a buddy. Aaron would probably have a great time if a friend could go with him.

Having said that, if I offered to pay for a trip to somewhere else for Drew, he'd probably pick the somewhere else half the time, depending on where it was. He likes Disney, but he's fine with the every few years concept.

My mom did a really good job raising me to be a Disney girl and I have stayed that way for almost 35 years -- I am sure Brooklyn will be the same way. :goodvibes

I am glad the funny looks didn't deter you -- they were just wondering why they weren't as creative.

Good. I hope Brooklynn does just as well.

I didn't know any of those people, so I didn't care.
Besides, I was on my way to Disney World!!!
They are just lucky I wasn't doing this - :cool1:

Glad you had a great trip. Go easy on those reports cards, make sure you go to your happy place while filling them out. ;)

I have my Disney music going in the back ground, so they should all make C's and above. ;)

I love Eeyore and his comments, what a great idea! :thumbsup2

The bus was cool. The bus that took us back on Sunday was just a Mears bus.

I think it was the 2008, but I'll look later and let you know. It is full of information - lots of good pictures, although most of them small, and lots of little extra tidbits of Disney knowledge.

I absolutely love Eeyore and his signs! :

I love Little People, Big World.

The season finale is next Monday. We'll see if it returns for another season.
For a while there, those kids were getting pretty smart-aleck to the parents, but they seem to have calmed down on that. I was about to quit watching that one, too. I guess they didn't want to lose me as a viewer, so they started acting nicer!

Okay, I am officially coming out my lurkdom! I have lurked on all of your previous TR's and I just love them! Krista

Welcome aboard! I'm surprised you didn't chime in earlier when we were talking about 'that old Genie boy'!

I think 2-3 times a year is a good amount to not suffer too much withdrawal, yet still keep it exciting.

All of the CM's at Pop were great to us this trip. We didn't spend much time there, but every interaction we had from check-in to leaving was very good.

Safari sounds awesome! Something educational for the kids and a little time to get report cards done. Good luck with the comments. That was the part that always took me forever.

When will you find out if you'll be able to change grades?

I don't know. Probably not until the end of the year, when he sees who is transferring, retiring, etc. I am really, really hoping to move down. I just need a change.

I'm sure we'll be telling Bella the very first day about her upcoming trip! :)

We're glad you enjoy our craziness.

2010 does sound far off, but hanging around the Disboards can kind of help you be there in small doses as you wait. You can get all kinds of helpful hints to make your 2010 trip the best it can be.

I hope you will continue to join in as we go on this trip, and chime in any time!

:sad1: good for you for continuing to hobble! i'm trying to walk normal but if i'm wearing a shoe i can't. it's just impossible.

I hope you will be walking better soon. I know it hurts, and it is annoying to have to walk funny.

I'm so glad that you have sweet memories of Disney times past. I hope my kids and grandkids will, too. It will hopefully be a place where we will always be together in spirit.

I have my Disney music going in the back ground, so they should all make C's and above. ;)

Nothing wrong with C's; afterall, it's the C students who run the world. :goodvibes

Don't let me stop you from showing everyone your shopping pictures. :rotfl:

So, I had this brilliant idea that my pal, Eeyore, would come along with us and make little comments along the way. He is smaller than a plush doll, so easier to carry, and his little photo holder would be a place for comments.

Here's Eeyore on Wednesday morning.

Memom: I think you did a very good job explaining it. To me "Family makes everything better!"

I love Eeyore. He's gonna make this trip fun. I can tell :thumbsup2

Glad you are back MeMom. I hope you got some rest because we are ready to hear all about it.:)

Jill, how are you feeling? Is Bellarie trying to make her grand entrance today?

Nothing wrong with a C at all. I agree.
I'll also take a D/F student who tries and has manners and morals over a bright 'thug wannabe' who wastes his own abilities and deters others from learning. We have a lot of those at our school, and it is very frustrating.

Oh, I'll show the shopping pictures. Maybe Ma can go ahead and be picking out some things she might like for you to buy her this summer! :)

Yes, family does make everything better!

Eeyore did okay the first day, but I must confess that he was not a very active participant for the middle part of the trip. My fault completely.

Glad you are back MeMom. I hope you got some rest because we are ready to hear all about it.:)

Jill, how are you feeling? Is Bellarie trying to make her grand entrance today?

I planned to get in bed by nine last night, but it was 11:20, so I'm not caught up yet. It is going to be Sunday before I can get back to normal, I think, with all that is going on this week.

******************************

Jill called as she was leaving work today and said they were going to eat Mexican food and then she and Brooklynn are going to bed early. She said Brooklynn kept waking up in the middle of the night crying saying her foot hurt. Maybe she twisted her ankle or got it stepped on or whatever and it's bruised inside. Jill didn't really know. She said she woke up about three times, and they were both miserable this morning. Hopefully, they can make up for it tonight.

I love the Eeyore idea! So cute! Your Eeyore clock is very cute, too.

I hope that Jill and Brooklynn both get more sleep tonight. How has Jill been feeling?

MeMom!

You've started your new trip report before me! Now I feel really bad that I don't have pics up or anything! Eeyore is a really cute idea, it will be great to see how that carries on throughout the report!

Jill,

I hope you and Brooklynn get some more sleep tonight!

Hi,

I found you.

Great start to the report.

:scared1: look at the traffic heading in.

Can't wait for more.

I have had that Eeyore clock for many years. It hasn't gotten much of a workout, though, as far as the alarm part. It seldom goes off, since I'm usually already awake. During church camp, when I'm really going hard all day every day, sometimes it goes off and wakes me up during those weeks.

For the most part, she has done fine. She has started feeling tired in the last couple of weeks, but that is to be expected with working and tending to Brooklynn. I would like to see her only work 2-3 days a week at this point, but they've been shorthanded and she's too nice to say no when they ask her to stay. When Brooklynn is not feeling well or just having sleep issues, Jill can't get anywhere near the amount of sleep she needs to be getting right now. I wish I could take off a few days and just go down and pamper her, but this is the worst possible time for me to be away from school, and I'm already taking off two days when she is in the hospital. She's always trying to be superwoman for everyone else, and it's time for her to sit back and let someone else do some things for her.

I hope the sleep fairy is extra nice to her tonight, too!

Jill,

I hope you and Brooklynn get some more sleep tonight!

I felt like I just needed to put a few pictures up to get started, since everyone was so kind to send their good thoughts our way. That's about all I'm going to be able to do for several days, though, because I've got a full plate right now.

Hi,

I found you.

Great start to the report.

:scared1: look at the traffic heading in.

Can't wait for more.

Good to have you here. I did ride Pirates on your birthday and took a few pictures for you. I told Kay I was riding for Scott, and she wanted to know whose little boy he was. I guess she got that from me taking the Pokemon pictures for CanadianWDWfan's little girl!

And, speaking of Pokemon, although I know nothing about him/it, I did find the following items in Japan just for you, Lexi.

Quick! I must minimize the screen before Connor catches a glimpse of all that Pokemon stuff -- I would be here all night while he browses in your pictures! :lmao:

Ok confession time: I'm a huge Pokemon Fan and was very upset when the store in NYC didn't have a shirt in my size :rotfl2:

Charleston Princess: Does Connor have the new game yet? I got it on Sunday and haven't even cracked the package yet....I'm still trying to beat Ranger, Ranger:Shadows of Almia, and Diamond and Pearl :rotfl:
