A trip to WDW w/NO kids? Hubba Hubba! Wink Wink! UPDATE: EXTRA, EXTRA!!! Pg 158

Can't wait for more! I'm loving this TR. I also thought it was hysterical how that CM is smiling at the pic :rotfl: Very cool you got to ride the Segways. When were were there early in the a.m. the people who paid a ton for the Segway tour were in there practicing and the CM told us to come back later to try them for free but we never did, although with two little kids it wouldn't have worked. Looked like fun. Can't wait to see what happens next!popcorn::

I'd love to have a go on a segway it looks so much fun but I'm the same as Lesley with 2 kids so not possible, only 6 more years though until we can do it as a family :) So were they easy to get the hang of?

I sleep pretty soundly....so that's probably why.

Oh, I told Mike I thought I saw a shadow outside...sorry for what you had to see. :rotfl: JUST KIDDING!

Well maybe a BIG update today....I think it's big enough for 2 posts!! (I got really talkative...sorry!)

Don't worry...I didn't peek in!! Just went on my merry way.:rotfl:

Nice update. I'm having the same problem with getting through day 1!:lmao:

Great update Cheri :goodvibes The segways look fun. Is that a whole line of people waiting in the background of the pic? Looks like they are watching very intent!

I'm here!!! Trying to get caught up...Segways look like so much fun!!!

Did you hear about the new Segway tour they have a Fort Wilderness on the off-road segways?

How cool that you guys got to try out the Segways.

yep, never thought that was possible! where else but in Disney?! :goodvibes

Great Update!!!

There goes my pregnancy theory:rotfl2:

That is so cool you were able to try the segways for free. Dh woul love to do that.....Not me, I woluld probably fall off or hit something:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I was afraid Epcot ball would look too bare with out wand, but it really looks great!!!!

thanks!

I loved it....nah you wouldn't fall off :lmao:

It does look great. You should've heard Mike. He kept saying things like: "It just looks like a giant ball now!"

To my little apprentice...

You are doing a very good job. Keeping us interested, yet not bored with too much. I think you deserve an A+ for this update! :thumbsup2

Anywho ... You take such cute pics. Or should I say that Mike takes such cute pics of you?

And look how lonely Spaceship Earth looks without the Mickey hand with wand .... :sad2:

aww thanks! Glad you are giving me an A+ and I don't need the curve. :rotfl:

thanks...I guess Mike takes good pics...well they're not all good. Just wait and see...:rotfl2:

I think it looks good in its original form. It was weird though, at first. I found it strange that a lot of Epcot souvenirs/memorabilia still shows the sphere WITH the hand/wand. Guess they have to sell it all before making new things without the wand. :confused3

Great update!:thumbsup2 Just the right length too.:goodvibes that is so cool that you got to try the segway.:cool2:

oh thanks! you are too kind!

Yeah, it was cool! :thumbsup2 I figured a lot of people wouldn't know about it yet, and I hadn't seen it on anyone else's reports (just the tours that you pay for) so I knew it would be some good information for everyone. BTW the sessions go from 1-7 PM

Thanks!! It's too bad they don't let the kids play around on them, but I guess they *could* get hurt and they don't want the liability. I'm sure it wouldn't move because they're so light.

I hope Tim is feeling better!

actually they were very easy. Not so much for Mike because he has a bad ankle, but at least he got to see. Now I know not to schedule a tour

Don't worry...I didn't peek in!! Just went on my merry way.:rotfl:

yeah I wrote the same thing on your report. :lmao:

Great update Cheri :goodvibes The segways look fun. Is that a whole line of people waiting in the background of the pic? Looks like they are watching very intent!

they are waiting their turn, kinda like we did. And they probably keep getting told "10 minutes" If they ONLY KNEW! :rotfl2:

well I'm headed home for now...catch y'all later!

So…we were at Disney World! What better way to celebrate, and feel the REAL Disney magic, but to go to one of the parks! We did, afterall, spend that extra whopping $2.00 for the extra day to make sure we could spend a little bit of time in the parks on our arrival day.
So we made a quick stop to squash some pennies by the game room, and headed for the bus stop. Where do we want to go? Before we walk outside, I say “Let’s go to _____! Well I’ll be a monkey’s Aunt…there’s the bus, RIGHT on TIME! (This wouldn’t be the first time this happened)
We arrive at the “park” and….

And now, the moment you’ve ALL been waiting for….

Drumroll please!

….

Mike snaps a pic of a sight we haven’t seen in a while…

Disney2007028.jpg

Look Ma, no hands!!!!!!!

We grab a map, and of course Mike had to snap the first pic of me in the park:
Disney2007029.jpg

This is me going…"I need to reorient myself…there’s too many walls up!” Epcot involves enough walking without the walls, and now we had to navigate around them….this would prove troublesome later in our trip.

We were hungry (we knew we didn’t want to eat at our food court, so we planned on finding something at the park) so we headed for the Electric Umbrella. I completely forgot to take a pic (but doesn’t matter so much with the CS right?:confused3 ) but we split a CS credit and shared a Grilled Chicken Sandwich with fries, a light lemonade, and strawberry cheesecake for dessert. Since it was pretty early for dinner, we wanted to eat light so that we could eat a normal dinner later on. Once we were finished up there…

We decide to do something new...

Let’s go see Nemo! Oh my gosh! I’ve NEVER seen a longer queue in my ENTIRE LIFE. By that, I don’t mean the actual LINE, I just mean the entrance…does that make sense? We weaved throughout the long long entrance, and walked right on. I’m sure when the sign said 10 minutes, they meant it just takes that long to GET to the ride! The theming was really nice, though. I couldn’t imagine the wait time if that whole queue was filled though.

Disney2007030.jpg

Unfortunately this is the ONLY pic I have on photobucket…(I am not quite sure but I think the rest of them may have been too dark and that’s why I didn’t upload them. I’ll have to go back and check when I get home.)

It was a really cute ride, but a one-timer for us. Or…maybe not?
We decided to walk over to see our pal, Crush, since we had never done it before. (The lines for that thing in mid-summer are HORRENDOUS!) It was absolutely the CUTEST thing, and it was actually really funny! I love that technology, and it got me excited to see the new Monsters Inc. show in MK. For anyone who doesn’t have kids, and thinks that show is just for kids, it’s definitely for all ages. He only speaks to the children (and occasionally their parents) but he had us cracking up the whole time! :rotfl:

We exited and took a few minutes to look at all of Meeko and Cleo’s cousins. (for those of you that didn’t read the PTR, those are my :fish: ) The seahorses are my fav! (sorry, no pics here) We noticed one of the venomous puffer fish was sorta laying at the bottom of his tank, so when we left the room Mike wanted to do his good deed of the day and we found a CM to tell about it. He said that’s what he was on his way to check on...he said those fish sometimes get into odd positions, but it didn’t seem normal and he might be sick. I sure hope he’s okay!

We left the Seas building, and managed to be there for the brief moment in the day when there aren’t 80 strollers clogging up the walkway and 120 children taking pictures with the fish statues. So I jumped up there and had Mike take a pic. (not a great one)
Disney2007031.jpg

That kid was the only one taking a pic at the time. He was so cute, he didn't want to leave Nemo.

As soon as we were done, swarms of parents and children came to take pictures. What timing we had!

Okay, I think I’ve done way too much chattering and not enough pics. :guilty: Hope y’all are still tuned in!

Next, we decided YET AGAIN to do something else we’ve never done (never had the time to). Innoventions! I wasn’t sure which one to go to, so we just picked one, and it turned out to be Innoventions West. We walked in, not sure of what to do. I think there is more stuff at IE, but what we found here was pretty cool, too.
We saw some people riding segways, and thought maybe that had something to do with the tours ($$$), but I asked one of the CM’s riding one, and he said that it was free :yay: and we could try riding one briefly, after watching a short film. He said the next show was in 10 minutes, so we thought, hey, why not try it out! We were the first ones, and waited in “line” for the next session.
Since I forgot to get a pic while we were waiting, I found one online and this was our exact view:
http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/guides/epcot/photos/segway-250.jpg

10 minutes later we were still waiting. And the guy still kept saying “in 10 minutes.” Mike suggested leaving after 15-20 minutes of waiting, and I said “Well, we’ve already waited THIS long, might as well keep waiting.” Finally, after 30 minutes of waiting :snail:, we were allowed into that big round room in the picture. The CM introduced the video and it lasted about 10 minutes. We had to sign a release form, and then we were let out of the room to try out the Segway! (Also, no one under 16 could ride it, you had to have good balance and be able to stand on it alone, and women who are expecting can’t ride---there goes that theory, huh?)
I went first.
Disney2007033.jpg

I rather like how the movement made it blurry….I must’ve been turning.

Disney2007034.jpg

Go forward.

Disney2007035.jpg

Now backward.

Disney2007036.jpg

Now forward really fast. No, faster! I am like “hey, I don’t want to hit you, man!” And he kept insisting I wouldn’t hit him. But he was walking backward the whole time and awfully close!

Disney2007037.jpg

Time to practice that turning.

Disney2007038.jpg

Alright, you’re done. Good job!

Now it’s Mike’s turn.

Disney2007039.jpg

Not quite grasping it as well as me…

Smile!...
Disney2007041.jpg

I like how the CM is actually smiling at the camera, and Mike is looking off in the distance at who knows what!

I didn’t get quite as many pics of him. Didn’t want to embarrass him…haha (Seriously though, I think his bad ankle made it really hard for him)

After that….we had enough of Epcot for the day and needed to save the rest for later in the week…..Or did we? :confused3 And did we have enough energy left to hit PI? Find out in the next installment, where I take a pic with someone I’m actually taller than! :thumbsup2

(Bonus cliffhanger: How long will it take me to get through day 1? :lmao: )

awesome update Cheri.

Love the pics of you on the Segway. Mike seems to always look off in the distance in pictures. :lmao: Like he's trying to look like he's smart by "looking off in the distance in thought" :lmao: too funny.

anyways, good job chickadee. cant wait to read more!

Great update, love the pics.

I did the Segway demo as well and kept getting the same "It will be starting in 10 minutes" for about 30 minutes as well.

Hey! I found you! I've been looking for your thread over on the pre-trippies but someone went and got herself moved! :rotfl:

Hi Cheri!

I have been subbed to your PTR for months, but I kept being just too far behind. So, I've just started in with the actual TR. Sorry I'm not as good as disneydadfanatic who went through the whole PTR! :lmao:

Anyway, it's a great start, love the pictures and your writing style is terrific! :thumbsup2

I would soooo biff it on the segways. I would be the "one." :sad2:

Ok, I'm caught up (thanks to the handy dandy links!)

Loved your Epcot update and the Segway pics! I am so doing Innoventions next time, we always seem to skip it in our rush to ride the rides.

Hey Cheri! Welcome back (yes, I know I'm late to the welcome home party)! I'm enjoying the trip report and pics, and it looks like you had a great first day. Looking forward to the rest of the report!

BTW, I wonder what happens if a Disney resort screws up, give you the last available handicapped room, and then someone in a wheelchair who needs that room (and requested it) shows up? Would the ADA require them to force you to give up the room for them, or would they find the handicapped guest an accessible room at another resort? :confused3

I'm here!!! Trying to get caught up...Segways look like so much fun!!!

Did you hear about the new Segway tour they have a Fort Wilderness on the off-road segways?

DH would love that. Perfect since we are staying at Ft Wilderness next year....:thumbsup2

yep, never thought that was possible! where else but in Disney?! :goodvibes

thanks!

I loved it....nah you wouldn't fall off :lmao:

It does look great. You should've heard Mike. He kept saying things like: "It just looks like a giant ball now!"

DS said that this past May......I wanna go see the Big Golf Ball!"

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Cheri hasn't checked on her TR all weekend and it fell off the front page of the TR board! I couldn't let it stay there, so I'm checking in to see if we have updated.

Nope, not updated. Guess we gotta wait til Cheri's at work so she'll work on her TR.:goodvibes
